EDD payment delay after certification - new Money Network card causing issues?

I certified for my unemployment benefits yesterday morning but still haven't received my payment. This is unusual since I normally see the deposit hit my account the next day like clockwork. I'm wondering if there's a delay because I recently got that notification about switching to the new Money Network card? I haven't activated the new card yet since I was hoping to keep using direct deposit. Has anyone else experienced payment delays after the recent certification? Should I be worried or just wait another day? The EDD website still shows my payment as 'pending' with no explanation.

I had the EXACT same issue last month!! My payment was delayed for THREE days after certification when it usually takes one day max. Turns out the new Money Network card system was causing all kinds of problems with payment processing. I finally got so fed up with the recorded messages and busy signals that I used Claimyr to get through to an actual EDD rep (claimyr.com). They have this video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km. The rep explained they're having system integration issues with the new card rollout. They fixed mine within minutes once I actually got to speak to someone.

Thanks for the tip. Did you have to activate your new card first before the payment went through? I'm wondering if that's what's holding things up on my end.

This happened last time they changed card providers too. The EDD never learns from their mistakes. It's almost like they WANT us to suffer while waiting for our money. I've been on unemployment three times in the past decade and every single system update causes these exact same delays! 🤬

Yeah I checked UI Online and it definitely still shows pending. No transaction history update or anything yet. I guess I'll give it another day before really panicking.

This is a common issue right now due to the Money Network card transition. Here's what you need to know: 1. If you previously had direct deposit, you should still receive your funds that way UNLESS you received a notice specifically saying you're being switched to the card system. 2. Payment delays during this transition period are typically 2-3 business days longer than normal. 3. You don't need to activate the new card for pending payments to process if you're on direct deposit. 4. If your payment status changes from "pending" to "paid" but you don't see the money within 24 hours, then you should contact EDD. The good news is that these transition delays are temporary and don't indicate any problem with your claim eligibility. The system is just experiencing higher processing times while they migrate everyone to the new payment platform.

Wait I'm confused... I got the Money Network card but I thought we HAD to switch to it? The letter made it sound like direct deposit was going away completely. Are you saying we can still keep direct deposit even with the new card system??

UPDATE: My payment finally came through this morning! It took 3 days instead of the usual 1, but at least it arrived. I didn't have to activate the new card or anything. Looks like it was just a temporary delay like some of you mentioned. Thanks everyone for your help and commiseration!

Glad to hear your payment came through! For anyone else experiencing delays beyond 3-4 days, I recommend these steps: 1. Verify your payment status has changed from "pending" to "paid" in UI Online 2. Confirm your payment method hasn't changed in the system 3. Check if there are any certification questions that might have triggered a review (answering "yes" to not being available for work, etc.) 4. If you're approaching day 5 with no payment, contact EDD directly The current Money Network transition is causing some delays, but most payments are still processing within the 3-day window.

Day 5 here and still nothing. Called EDD 17 times today, can't get through to anyone. This is ridiculous.
