Money Network card payment issues - stuck on 'pending' for 4 weeks

I certified for benefits 4 weeks straight and my payments are still showing as 'pending' in the system but nothing has hit my Money Network card. This is my first time on unemployment and I'm starting to get really worried. My rent is due next week and I was counting on these funds. The EDD website just shows the payments as pending with no explanation. Has anyone had their Money Network card actually get loaded recently? I'm wondering if there's a system-wide delay or if it's just my claim that's stuck in limbo. Any advice on how to get this resolved would be really appreciated!

I've tried calling about 30 times over the past week but keep getting the 'maximum callers' message and get disconnected. Did you do anything special to get through to them?

There could be several reasons your payments are stuck in pending status. The most common ones are: 1. Identity verification issues with ID.me 2. Work search requirement problems 3. An eligibility interview needs to be scheduled 4. An unreported work issue 5. Quarterly income review Check your UI Online inbox to see if there are any notifications or interview appointments. Also, make sure your identity verification through ID.me is complete. Sometimes they don't tell you there's a problem until you call in.

Thanks for the detailed response! I checked my inbox and don't see any notifications or interview appointments. My ID.me verification shows as completed too. I guess I really need to talk to a representative to figure this out.

My husband's payments were stuck in pending for 5 weeks and we were FREAKING OUT!! Turned out he answered a certification question wrong about being available for work (he had a doctor's appointment that week and thought he had to report it). Had to call like 50 times to get through!!!!

Oh wow, that's scary. I'll double-check my certification answers. I don't think I made any mistakes, but maybe I misunderstood something. Did they fix it right away when you finally got through?

Yeah once we got through the rep fixed it in like 5 minutes and the money was on his card the next day! So frustrating that such a small thing could hold everything up for weeks!!!!

I was in the EXACT same situation last month. Four weeks of pending payments and couldn't get through to EDD no matter how many times I called. I finally used Claimyr and got connected to an EDD rep in about 20 minutes. They found that my claim had a random flag for "quarterly review" even though I'd only been on unemployment for 6 weeks! The rep removed the flag and all four payments hit my Money Network card two days later. Check out their video to see how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km Their website is claimyr.com if you're interested. It was worth it for me since I needed those payments for rent.

Thanks for the suggestion. At this point, I'm desperate enough to try anything. Did they explain why your account got flagged for quarterly review so early? I'm wondering if something similar might have happened to me.

The rep said sometimes the system automatically flags accounts for review based on certain patterns or answers on certifications. In my case, she couldn't even explain exactly why it happened - just some algorithm thing. She just removed the flag and processed all my pending payments right away. Without getting through to someone, I would've been stuck in pending forever.

If your payments are stuck in pending status for more than 2 weeks, there's definitely an issue that needs to be resolved by speaking with a representative. While waiting to get through on the phone, make sure you continue certifying for benefits every two weeks. Also, check if your Money Network card is properly activated - sometimes people miss the activation step and think payments aren't coming through when the card simply isn't active yet. When you do get through to EDD, ask them specifically: 1. Is there a hold or flag on your account? 2. Do they need additional information from you? 3. Is there a scheduled determination interview? These questions will help identify exactly what's causing the delay.

You know what's RIDICULOUS? EDD expects people to survive with NO INCOME for weeks or months while they figure out their broken system! How are we supposed to pay rent and buy food? Then they act like they're doing us a favor when they finally release OUR MONEY that we worked for and contributed to through our taxes! The whole system is designed to make claiming benefits as difficult as possible!!!

I understand your frustration, but EDD is dealing with millions of claims and limited staff. While the system isn't perfect, most payment delays are caused by specific issues that need human review. EDD isn't intentionally withholding payments - they're trying to prevent fraud while processing legitimate claims. It's frustrating when you're waiting, but there's usually a specific reason that can be resolved.

UPDATE: I finally got through to EDD! For anyone facing similar issues, I used Claimyr after seeing it recommended here, and got connected in about 30 minutes. Turns out my account had a random quarterly review flag (even though I've only been on unemployment for 6 weeks). The representative removed the flag and said my pending payments should process within 48 hours. So relieved to finally have answers! Will update again when/if the money hits my card.

That's great news! Yes, quarterly review flags can happen at somewhat random intervals and often don't require any action from you - just an EDD representative to review and remove the flag. The quarterly review process is meant to verify continued eligibility but sometimes gets applied too aggressively by their automated systems. Glad you got it resolved!
