EDD Money Network Card Delivery Timeline - Anyone Receive Theirs Yet?
Just found out my unemployment claim was approved last week (finally!) and EDD said benefits will be on the new Money Network card. Has anyone actually received one of these new cards yet? My previous UI claim from 2023 was on BoA, so this is all new to me. The EDD rep I spoke with couldn't give me a clear timeline on when to expect the card. My rent is due on the 15th, and I'm getting nervous about timing. Also, do we get any kind of tracking number or notification when it ships? The EDD website just shows 'paid' status but nothing about the card itself.

•Thanks! Did you get any email or text when your payment was first issued? Just trying to figure out when my 9-day countdown actually started.

I received my Money Network card exactly 7 business days after my first payment was processed. Once you see the payment status change to "paid" on UI Online, the clock starts ticking. The new Money Network cards actually arrive faster than the old Bank of America ones used to. You should be able to set up text alerts once you receive and activate the card. One thing to note - when your card arrives, you MUST call to activate it before you can use it, and you'll need to set up a PIN during that call. The activation number will be on a sticker on the front of the card.

•This is super helpful, thank you! My payment switched to "paid" on Monday, so hopefully I'll have it by next week. Is the activation process pretty straightforward?

•Yes, activation is easy - just call the number on the sticker, verify your identity (usually last 4 of SSN and ZIP code), and create a PIN. Make sure you also register for the online portal right away - that's where you can set up direct deposit to your bank account if you don't want to use the card for everything.

Mine took 11 days to arrive after my payment showed "paid" in the system. But I've heard it varies depending on where you live in California. The most frustrating part is that there's ZERO tracking ability - no email updates, no texts, nothing. It just shows up one day. What makes me angry is that EDD knows people desperately need this money, yet they can't provide basic tracking information that literally every other delivery service offers in 2025. I had to borrow money from family to cover my rent because the card took so long.

•That's exactly what I'm worried about! I might need to ask my landlord for an extension if it doesn't come by the 15th. Really wish they had some kind of tracking system.

If you need to reach EDD to get more specific information about your card status, I'd recommend trying Claimyr. I was in the same situation last month - payment was "paid" but no card after 10 days. I used Claimyr to get through to an EDD rep quickly instead of spending hours redialing. They were able to verify my card had been mailed and even expedite a replacement when it turned out it was sent to my old address. You can check out how it works at claimyr.com or watch their demo video: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km

•Thanks for the tip! If my card doesn't show up by next Wednesday, I'll definitely check this out. Getting through to EDD on my own has been impossible.

Has anyone figured out how to transfer money from the Money Network card to your regular bank account? With the old BoA cards, I could just do a transfer online, but I can't figure out how to do it with this new system. Do I have to wait for the physical card to arrive first before setting up transfers? I got the email that my payment was issued 5 days ago but no card yet.

•You definitely need the physical card first! Once you have it, you activate it, then register on the Money Network website with the card number, then you can set up your bank account for transfers. It's annoying you can't set it up ahead of time.

•That's correct. You need the physical card to set up the Money Network account. Once you have it, log in to moneynetwork.com and set up your bank account for transfers. You can also set up automatic transfers for all future payments. The transfers typically take 1-2 business days to complete.

the new Money Network cards are actually way better than the old Bank of America ones imo. i got mine last month and setting up direct deposit to my checking account was super easy. took about 8 days to arrive after my first payment showed paid. just make sure when u get it u activate it right away and set up the online account!!

•That's good to hear! Did you also get any kind of welcome packet with instructions, or is it just the card by itself?

•it comes with a little welcome packet explaining everything! pretty straightforward actually. the online portal is WAY better than the old BoA one too

IMPORTANT: When you do get your card, immediately set up direct deposit to your bank account! Don't leave large amounts on the Money Network card. I've seen several posts here about people having issues with cards getting frozen during "routine security reviews" and then taking weeks to resolve. The Money Network customer service is almost as bad as EDD's.

•Yikes, that's concerning. I'll definitely set up direct deposit as soon as I can. Thanks for the warning!

I applied for benifits on April 2 and got approved on April 10, payment showed paid on the 12th and I got my Money Network card on the 22nd so it was 10 days. But then my second payment posted on April 26 and was in my bank account on April 27 because I had already set up direct deposit from the card to my bank. So its only the first payment that takes a while becuase of waiting for the card.

•That's really helpful to know! So once I get the first card and set up direct deposit, future payments should be much faster. That makes me feel a bit better.

One more tip - when your card arrives, make sure you activate it and register online right away. Some people have reported issues where cards were automatically deactivated if not used within a certain timeframe. Also, write down the customer service number from the back of your card somewhere safe, in case you ever lose the card and need to report it.

•Good advice, thanks! I'll definitely activate it immediately when it arrives.

•Seems like it really varies. I'm hoping I'll be on the shorter end of that range!
