EDD approved my claim but no Money Network debit card yet - normal wait time?
I finally got approved for UI benefits last Monday and already received my first payment according to UI Online (shows as 'paid' status). But I'm still waiting for the Money Network debit card to actually access the money. Anyone know how long it typically takes for the card to arrive after your first payment is issued? The EDD website is super vague about timeframes and I've got rent coming up in a week. Getting a bit nervous since I can't use the benefits without the card!

•Thanks for the info! That would put me right around my rent due date. Cutting it close but at least there's a timeframe.

The Money Network debit card is typically mailed 24-48 hours after your first payment is processed as 'paid' in the system. Standard mail delivery takes 5-7 business days, so altogether you're looking at approximately 7-10 business days from your first payment date. If you don't receive it within two weeks, call Money Network directly at 1-866-692-9374 to check on status. They can even expedite a replacement if needed. Once you get the card, remember to set up your account online for easier management. You can also set up direct deposit to your personal bank account to avoid waiting for card transfers in the future.

•This is super helpful, thank you! Is the Money Network customer service easier to reach than EDD? I'm worried that if there's a problem I'll get stuck in phone limbo.

MINE TOOK ALMOST 3 WEEKS TO COME!! I was approved on a Thursday and payment showed 'paid' the next day but I didnt get my Money Network card until almost 3 WEEKS LATER!!! I called everyday and they kept telling me 'it's in the mail' but nothing came. I was FREAKING OUT because I had bills due. When I finally got it, all my payments were there but the wait was HORRIBLE. The EDD system is broken!!!

•Oh no, that's exactly what I'm afraid of! Did you ever figure out why it took so long? Was there something wrong with your address or was it just slow processing?

•They blamed it on 'high volume' and 'mail delays' but I think they just screwed up!! My neighbor got his in a week! So inconsistent!!!

I went through this same situation about a month ago and couldn't get through to anyone at EDD to confirm if my card was actually sent out. After trying for two days and constantly getting the "we're experiencing high call volume" message, I found this service called Claimyr that got me connected to an EDD agent in about 20 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km The agent confirmed my card had been mailed and gave me the exact date it was sent. Got it 3 days later. Might be worth checking out if you're really worried about when it's coming - at least you'll know for sure if there's a problem or if it's just normal processing time. Their website is claimyr.com

•I hadn't heard of this service before. Might give it a try if I don't see the card by end of this week. Did they tell you anything else useful when you finally got through to EDD?

•Yes! The EDD rep also told me I could request expedited shipping for a replacement card if I hadn't received it within 10 business days of the first payment. That's good to know as a backup option. And they confirmed all my payments were correctly processed.

The official timeframe from EDD is 7-10 business days from when your first payment shows as "paid" in the system. Here's what many people don't realize: 1. The payment processing and card mailing are handled by two separate entities (EDD processes the payment, Money Network issues the card) 2. The Money Network card is automatically generated when your first payment processes, you don't need to request it separately 3. If 10 business days pass and you haven't received your card, you should contact Money Network directly at 1-866-692-9374 rather than EDD 4. You can request expedited shipping for a replacement card (2-3 business days) if your original card doesn't arrive 5. Once you receive your card, you can switch to direct deposit for future payments to avoid delays Based on current processing times, most people are receiving their cards within 5-7 calendar days from first payment, but with occasional mail delays, 10 business days is a more realistic expectation.

•This is exactly the kind of detailed info I was hoping for! I'll mark my calendar for 10 business days and then contact Money Network if needed. Thank you!

wait i think ur supposed to have requested the card when u applied? i remember checking a box or something during my application. did u do that part?

•This is incorrect. The Money Network debit card is automatically issued when your first payment is processed. There is no separate request needed during the application process. The system automatically triggers the card issuance when the first payment is approved.

Update: My Money Network card just arrived today! Took exactly 8 calendar days from when my payment showed as 'paid' in the system. Thanks everyone for the help and information. For anyone else wondering about timeframes, 7-10 days seems to be pretty accurate based on my experience.

•Great news! Now that you have your card, don't forget to create your Money Network account online so you can manage your funds easily. And consider setting up direct deposit for future payments to avoid any card delays.

•Already on it! Just set up my account and I'm linking my regular bank for direct deposit. So relieved to have access to the funds now.
