How long after approval does EDD Money Network card arrive? Mine's 2 weeks late

I got approved for unemployment benefits 3 weeks ago and received my award letter in the mail. My certifications all show as 'paid' in the UI Online system, but I still haven't received my Money Network debit card. The EDD website says it should take 7-10 business days max, but I'm already at 15 business days now! Anyone else experience delays with receiving their card recently? Is there something I should be doing? I've tried calling EDD but can't get through (surprise surprise), and I really need access to these funds ASAP. My rent is due next week and I'm starting to panic!!

A MONTH?? Omg I can't wait that long. Did you do anything to speed it up or just had to wait it out?

Same boat right now! Been waiting 3.5 weeks for my card. Called Money Network directly (not EDD) and they said my card was issued 2 weeks ago. They're having delays with the mailing vendor they use. The rep told me I could request a replacement card for $10 fee that would come faster via expedited shipping, but I decided to just keep waiting. So frustrating!

Thanks for the tip about calling Money Network directly! I didn't know that was even an option. Do you have their number?

Sure, it's 1-866-692-9374. Have your SSN and EDD customer account number ready. They're actually pretty easy to get through to compared to EDD.

The Money Network cards are taking longer than usual right now due to increased claim volume in Q1 2025. Here's what you should know: 1. First-time cards typically take 10-14 business days, but are currently taking 15-21 business days 2. You can verify if your card has been mailed by checking your UI Online account - look under "Payment Information" to see if there's a transaction date 3. If it's been more than 21 business days, call Money Network directly at 1-866-692-9374 4. You can request direct deposit for future payments through your UI Online account I'd recommend setting up direct deposit right away, even if you're still waiting for your card. Future payments will go directly to your bank account.

Thank you for the detailed info! I didn't know about the direct deposit option. I'll set that up today. I checked my UI Online and it shows transaction dates for my payments, so I guess the card is on its way.

I waited 18 days for my Money Network card last month. What annoyed me most is they don't tell you ANYTHING once your claim is approved. No tracking number, no email updates, NOTHING. Just 'wait for your card'. EDD is stuck in 1995 with their tech!!!

Totally agree! They should at least text or email when the card ships. My mailbox was being checked by porch pirates so I was stressing the whole time!

I was waiting forever for my Money Network card last month and got desperate after 3 weeks. I finally used Claimyr to connect with an actual EDD rep (claimyr.com) and they confirmed my card was lost in the mail! They ordered me a new one with expedited shipping. Worth checking out their video to see how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km. Got me through to an agent in about 15 minutes when I'd been trying for days.

Never heard of Claimyr before. Did they actually get you through to a real person? I've been calling the EDD number for days with no luck.

Yes! That's exactly what they do - they basically keep dialing EDD for you and navigate the phone tree, then call you when they get a live agent. Saved me hours of redial frustration. The agent confirmed my address was correct but the card got lost in transit.

Whoever designed the EDD payment system clearly never needed unemployment themselves!!1! They make you wait WEEKS for a card while bills pile up, instead of just direct depositing from the start like literally every other state does. I spent 2 hours trying to talk to a human at EDD when my card didnt show up after 3 weeks. FINALLY got someone who told me 'oh yeah we're backed up, just keep waiting' 🤬

Exactly! It makes no sense to default to a physical card in 2025. I'm definitely switching to direct deposit once I get access to my account.

Update for those following: my card FINALLY arrived today! Exactly 26 days after approval. Ridiculous wait but at least it's here. Hope yours comes soon OP!

Congrats! Did they at least load all your back payments on it? I'm getting worried since I now have 3 weeks of payments that should be on mine.

Yes, all my payments were there! Had to activate the card via phone and set a PIN. Money was available immediately after that.

If you need your money urgently and can't wait for the card, you CAN call Money Network and request an emergency cash transfer once your card has been issued. There's a fee, but they can make your funds available for pickup at certain locations within 24 hours. Just another option if you're really in a bind with rent coming due.

Thank you! I might have to do that if it doesn't come by Monday. Really appreciate all the helpful advice everyone.
