EDD Money Network Card: How long after approval until it arrives in mail?
Just got approved for unemployment benefits last week after waiting for what felt like forever (6 weeks!). My UI Online account says my first payment was issued, but I still haven't received my Money Network debit card in the mail. The website says something about 7-10 business days, but I'm getting anxious because rent is due soon. Has anyone received their card recently? How long did it actually take to arrive? Is there a way to track it or expedite delivery? I've tried calling EDD but you know how that goes... 🙄

•Thanks, that's a bit reassuring. Did you get any kind of tracking info or did it just show up?

The official timeframe is 7-10 business days after your first payment is processed, but in my experience (and from what I've seen with others), it typically arrives within 5-7 business days. Remember that's business days, not calendar days, so don't count weekends. If it's been more than 10 business days, you should contact Money Network directly at 1-866-692-9374. They can tell you if the card was mailed and when, and they can expedite a replacement if needed. EDD customer service reps don't have access to that information. Also, once your card arrives, I recommend setting up the direct deposit option through UI Online so future payments go straight to your bank account - much faster!

•Thank you! I didn't realize I should contact Money Network directly instead of EDD. I'll definitely set up direct deposit once I get the card. Appreciate the help!

The EDD system is so frustrating! My card took FOURTEEN business days to arrive last year. Called Money Network multiple times and they kept saying "it's on the way" but couldn't provide tracking. When I finally got a supervisor on the phone, they admitted they had my apartment number wrong! Had to cancel that card and request a new one. DEFINITELY double-check your mailing address is correct in UI Online. And if it's been over 10 business days, don't waste time with EDD - call Money Network directly and DEMAND to speak with a supervisor if the rep isn't helpful.

•This is good advice. Address verification is crucial - even small errors can cause major delays. And yes, Money Network handles all card issues, not EDD.

If you need to speak with an EDD rep to check if there are any holds on your account that might be delaying the card issuance, try using Claimyr.com - it helped me get through when I was having debit card issues last month. They have a system that connects you with EDD agents without the constant busy signals. There's a video demo at https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km showing how it works. Saved me hours of redial frustration.

•Thanks! I'll look into that if my card doesn't arrive by next week. Anything is better than pressing redial for hours.

•does that service actually work? seems like it would be impossible to get through no matter what

•Worked for me! Got through in about 35 minutes instead of spending days trying. The agent told me my card had been returned to sender because of a typo in my address that I didn't even notice in my application.

Here's exactly what happens with your EDD debit card timeline: 1. Your first payment processes (shows as "paid" in UI Online) 2. EDD notifies Money Network to issue your card 3. Money Network processes the request (1-2 business days) 4. Card is mailed via USPS First Class Mail (3-5 business days) So realistically, it's about 5-7 business days from payment to mailbox. If it's been less than that, just keep waiting. If it's been longer, call Money Network at 1-866-692-9374. Also, once your card arrives, you have three options for accessing your funds: 1. Use the card like a regular debit card 2. Set up direct deposit from the card to your bank account through Money Network's website 3. Set up direct deposit for future payments through UI Online Option 3 is fastest for future payments but you'll still need the card for your first payment.

•Wow, thanks for breaking it down so clearly! It's been 5 business days so far, so I should probably give it a couple more days before panicking. I definitely plan to set up direct deposit for future payments.

•The EDD system is completely random! My neighbor and I applied the same week and his card came a full 10 days before mine did. Just another example of their disorganized system.

•Once the money is on your card, you can use it immediately. You'll need to activate the card first by calling the number on the sticker and creating a PIN. After that, you can use it anywhere that accepts Visa.
