Money Network debit card never arrived but EDD says it was mailed - how to access benefits?

I'm seriously stressing out about my EDD debit card situation. I filed my unemployment claim 5 weeks ago and have been faithfully certifying for benefits every two weeks. My UI Online account shows payments as "paid" for the past 3 certification periods (total around $2,400 now), but I STILL haven't received my Money Network debit card! When I checked the Money Network website, it claims the card was mailed out 3 weeks ago. My mail has been reliable for everything else, so I don't think it was stolen. I've tried calling EDD about 25 times but keep getting the "we're experiencing high call volume" message and then it hangs up. I've got rent due in 4 days and absolutely need access to these funds! Has anyone dealt with this Money Network card delay nightmare? Is there a direct number for the card issues rather than the general EDD line? Any tricks to actually get someone on the phone who can help? I'm desperate here.

I had this exact problem last year. The Money Network site said my card was mailed, but after waiting 3 weeks, nothing showed up. Turns out they had my old address even though my EDD account had my current one! You need to call Money Network directly at 1-866-692-9374 (not EDD) and request a replacement card. They can expedite it for a fee, which was worth it for me. When you get through, make sure they verify your current address before sending anything.

Thank you!!! I didn't realize Money Network was separate from EDD. I'll try calling them right now. Did they make you verify your identity again or anything? Just wondering what info I should have ready.

This is incorrect information. Money Network cards are typically issued within 7-10 business days of your first payment. If it's been 3+ weeks as the OP mentioned, something is definitely wrong. Don't just wait longer - either the card was lost or there's a problem with the address. Call Money Network directly, not EDD, to resolve this.

THEY NEVER SEND THE CARDS!!!! This is how they keep your money!!! I waited TWO MONTHS last year and had to call 47 times before someone finally admitted they never even processed my card request. The whole system is designed to make you give up. They're hoping you'll just walk away from YOUR MONEY because of the frustration. Don't let them win!!!

This isn't accurate. While there can definitely be delays and frustrations with the Money Network cards, they aren't deliberately withholding cards to keep your money. The funds remain in your account regardless of when you access them. The issue is usually administrative errors or mailing problems, not a conspiracy.

Have you checked if you're eligible for direct deposit instead of the debit card? EDD introduced that option a while back, and it's much more reliable than waiting for cards. You can set it up through your UI Online account under 'Payment Preferences.' For your current situation though, I'd recommend using Claimyr to contact EDD directly. I was in the same boat of not being able to get through for weeks, then found this service at claimyr.com that gets you past the EDD phone tree and connected to an agent within 10-15 minutes. Totally worth it when you're in a desperate situation like this. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km

I didn't know direct deposit was an option! I'll definitely switch to that once I get this current issue resolved. Thanks for the Claimyr suggestion - I'm looking at the site now. At this point I'd do anything to talk to a real person about this.

Former EDD employee here. This is a common issue with several possible causes: 1. Verify your mailing address is correct in UI Online immediately 2. Call Money Network directly (not EDD) at 1-866-692-9374 3. Ask if a card was actually issued and when 4. If it's been more than 10 business days, request a replacement 5. You can pay $10 for expedited shipping (2-3 business days) Alternatively, once you have access to your Money Network account, you can transfer funds to your bank account through their website/app rather than waiting for the physical card. For future payments, switch to direct deposit in your UI Online payment preferences to avoid card issues entirely.

Thank you so much for this detailed information! I called Money Network this morning and discovered they had my apartment number missing, so the card was probably returned to them. They're sending a new one with expedited shipping. And I'm definitely setting up direct deposit once I get access to my account. Really appreciate your help!

Most EDD offices don't handle debit card issues in person. Money Network (Bank of America) manages the cards, not EDD directly. Visiting an EDD office likely won't resolve this specific issue - contacting Money Network is the correct approach.

I see a lot of confusion in this thread between EDD and Money Network responsibilities. To clarify: - EDD processes your claim and approves payments - Money Network issues and manages the debit cards - They're separate entities with separate customer service systems For card issues (never received, lost, stolen), always contact Money Network directly at 1-866-692-9374. Their hours are 24/7, unlike EDD. For claim issues (payment amounts, disqualifications), contact EDD. OP, once you get your card situation resolved, I strongly recommend switching to direct deposit through your UI Online account. It's much more reliable and funds typically appear 1-2 days after payments are approved.

Update: Problem resolved! After calling Money Network, I discovered they had my address wrong (missing apartment number). They're sending a new card with expedited shipping that should arrive before my rent is due. I also learned I can transfer funds to my bank account through their website once I get access. Thanks everyone for your help - especially the tip about calling Money Network directly instead of EDD. I'll be switching to direct deposit as soon as possible!
