Money Network Card never arrived after 4 weeks of certifying - EDD at capacity and won't help

Is anyone else dealing with this Money Network card nightmare? I've certified for 4 consecutive weeks now, and my card is STILL nowhere to be found. When I called Money Network support, they basically shrugged and told me that EDD controls when my card gets sent out - not them! So I tried calling EDD right at opening time (8:01 AM this morning) and immediately got the 'we're at capacity' message. The rep tried to schedule a callback but then said there were no slots available. I'm literally watching my bills pile up while my benefits are supposedly sitting on a card I can't access. How is this system so broken? Has anyone successfully gotten through to EDD about card issues or found another way to get this resolved?

This is unfortunately a common issue with the Money Network cards. There are two separate processes happening: 1) Your claim being approved and benefits being certified, and 2) The actual card being issued and mailed. Many people don't realize that even after your payments show as 'paid' in UI Online, it can take 7-10 business days for the card to arrive. In some cases, it's taking up to 3 weeks due to processing delays and postal issues. Have you checked your UI Online account to confirm your payments are showing as 'paid' and not 'pending'? If they show 'paid,' the money has been transferred to Money Network, but you're just waiting on the physical card. Also, make sure your mailing address is correct in your UI Online profile.

Yes, everything shows 'paid' in my UI Online account - that's what's so frustrating! The money is there but I can't access it. My address is definitely correct too. I've been checking the mail obsessively. I just don't understand why Money Network is pointing to EDD and EDD won't even take my call. How am I supposed to resolve this?

5 WEEKS?! That's insane. I can't wait that long. I don't have Informed Delivery set up but I'll look into it. Did you ever actually get through to someone at EDD about it?

I had a similar situation last year and found a workaround that might help. Log into your UI Online account and go to 'Contact Us' (not the general EDD phone number). Select 'Payments' as the category and 'Debit Card' as the subcategory. Be very specific about how long you've been waiting and that Money Network directed you to EDD. They typically respond within 3-5 business days, and in my case, they were able to trigger the card issuance. Also, once your card arrives, I strongly recommend setting up direct deposit immediately to avoid future card issues. The Money Network portal can be accessed at moneynetwork.com/edp once you have your card information.

Thank you for this specific advice! I'm going to try the Contact Us method right now. And yes, I absolutely plan to set up direct deposit the SECOND I get that card. I never want to deal with this stress again.

The EDD phone system is completely overwhelmed right now. I was in the exact same position last month - needed my card, couldn't get through on phones. After 4 days of calling non-stop and getting nowhere, I tried Claimyr (claimyr.com) and got through to EDD in about 20 minutes. It's a service that basically navigates the phone system for you and calls you when they've got an agent on the line. There's a short video that explains it: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km I was skeptical but desperate, and it worked - the agent I spoke with was able to verify my card was actually sent but to an old address (even though my UI Online showed the correct one!). They expedited a new card that arrived 3 days later.

Yes, it actually worked for me. I think they just keep calling EDD using some automated system until they get through, then they connect you. I was able to talk to a tier 2 specialist who fixed my card issue.

I'm going to try the Contact Us method first, but I'll definitely keep this as a backup option if I don't hear back in a few days. At this point I'll try almost anything to get access to my benefits!

NOBODY at EDD knows what's going on!!! I waited 6 weeks for my card and every person I talked to gave me different information. One said it was sent, another said it wasn't in the system yet, third one said I needed to request it myself! The whole system is designed to make us give up on benefits we EARNED. Don't stop pushing them. Call every single day!!

That's what I'm afraid of - getting different answers from everyone and never resolving it. 6 weeks is absolutely unacceptable. Did you ever get your card?

Yes finally got it after I demanded to speak to a supervisor and refused to hang up. The regular agents just read from scripts and don't have real answers!

Hey there! Just wanted to let you know that I had a similar issue back in January. What worked for me was calling this alternative EDD number: 833-978-2511. It's their general technical support line, but they can sometimes transfer you to claims specialists who can help with card issues. Try calling at exactly 8:01 AM but also try around 11:30 AM and 4:30 PM, as I've noticed those times sometimes have shorter queues when people are at lunch or ending their shifts.

Thank you for the alternative number! I'll definitely try those specific times tomorrow. Honestly I'm willing to set alarms and try all three time slots if that's what it takes.

I double-checked and my address is definitely correct in UI Online. That's a good thought though - I wonder if there's some disconnect between what shows in my account and what they actually have in their system for the card mailing.

Update: I saw your responses and wanted to add that if you've waited more than 10 business days since your first payment was issued, you absolutely should request a replacement card. Here's how: 1. If you can't get through on the phone, use the "Ask EDD" feature on the website 2. Select "Unemployment Insurance Benefits" for the category 3. Then "Payments" for the subcategory 4. Then "Debit Card" for the topic Be sure to explicitly state that you never received your initial card, how long you've been waiting, and that you've already contacted Money Network who directed you back to EDD. In the meantime, keep trying the phone. Early mornings (8:01am) on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays seem to have the best success rates in my experience.

This is incredibly helpful - thank you for the detailed steps! I've just submitted an Ask EDD request following your instructions exactly. I'll keep trying the phone on Tuesday morning too. Really appreciate everyone's suggestions here.

anyone else think its crazy that we can see the money is there but cant touch it??? what if someone has NO money for food while waiting??? EDD should have better options!!!

You're absolutely right. The system assumes everyone has a financial cushion to wait weeks for benefits, which is precisely why most people need unemployment in the first place. It's a serious design flaw in the process.

UPDATE: Just wanted to let everyone know that I FINALLY got through to EDD using the 833 number at 8:01am sharp this morning! The rep confirmed my card was stuck in some kind of processing queue and hadn't actually been mailed yet despite my payments showing as paid. They've expedited a new card that should arrive in 3-5 business days. Will update again when it arrives. Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions - this forum has been more helpful than any official channels!

congrats!! hope u get it soon!

That's great news! The expedited cards usually do arrive within that timeframe. Remember to set up direct deposit as soon as you get it to avoid future card issues.
