Money Network Card payment showing but no funds available - stuck since 2/12
Hey everyone, I'm stressing out a bit here. My UI Online account shows EDD sent payment to my Money Network card on February 12th (five days ago), but there's still no money available when I check my card balance. Is this normal? The EDD payment history clearly shows 'paid' status, but nothing has hit my card yet. I've had regular UI payments before, but this is my first time with the new Money Network card system. Called the number on the back of the card twice and got stuck in automated hell. Anyone else experiencing delays with the new cards? How long should I expect to wait before panicking?

•A whole week? That's ridiculous! Bills don't wait. Do you know if there's a specific reason it takes so long compared to the old card system?

The Money Network cards typically process within 2-3 business days after EDD shows the payment as issued. Since February 12th was a Monday, you should have seen the funds by Thursday (2/15). The fact that you haven't received it by now is unusual. A few things to check: 1. Verify your Money Network card is activated properly 2. Check if your card has any restrictions or holds (call customer service) 3. Make sure your UI Online payment history shows the specific amount and says "Paid" not "Pending" If everything checks out, you should contact EDD directly to inquire about the delay. Sometimes there's a processing issue on their end that needs to be resolved.

•Thanks for the detailed response! Yes, it definitely says "Paid" and shows the amount. Card is activated (I've used it before). I'll try calling again tomorrow. Just wish there was a better way to reach them without waiting for hours.

SAME THING HERE!! Been waiting since 2/11 and still nothing! This is my 3rd payment with Money Network and the first 2 came through in 2 days. Something is definitely wrong with their system right now. THEY NEED TO FIX THIS!!!

•Wow, that's concerning. Have you been able to reach anyone at EDD or Money Network about it? Let me know if you find out anything!

I had this exact issue last month. Turns out there was a verification hold on my account that neither EDD nor Money Network initially told me about. After 8 days of trying to reach someone, I finally got through using Claimyr (claimyr.com). They helped me connect with an EDD rep within 15 minutes instead of spending days calling. The rep immediately identified the issue and released my funds. You can see how it works in their demo video: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km The rep told me the Money Network system occasionally flags accounts for additional verification, especially if there's anything unusual about the payment pattern. Once they cleared it, my money was available within hours.

•Never heard of this service before. Seems like it might be worth trying if I don't get anywhere tomorrow. Did they explain why your account got flagged? I'm wondering if mine has the same issue.

Not to change the subject but has anyone seen those stories about Money Network and data breaches? My cousin said he had issues with his card last month and now hes getting weird texts about his unemployment. Makes me wonder if thats why theres delays rn???

•There haven't been any confirmed data breaches with Money Network cards for EDD. Those texts are likely phishing attempts unrelated to any actual delays. The current delays are more likely related to processing backups or verification holds. Always be careful with texts claiming to be about your unemployment - EDD primarily communicates through UI Online or paper mail.

In my experience as someone who's gone through the EDD system multiple times, there are specific timing patterns with Money Network deposits. Regular certifications usually process within 1-2 business days, but there are certain situations that cause longer delays: 1. First payment on a new claim (can take 4-7 days) 2. Payments after identity verification issues (3-5 days) 3. Payments following an interview or appeal decision (up to 10 days) 4. System-wide processing delays (happens a few times per year) The fact that multiple people here are reporting similar delays from mid-February suggests a potential system-wide processing issue. If your payment history shows "Paid" status, the money will eventually arrive, but contacting EDD directly is your best option to speed things up.

•This is really helpful context, thank you! This isn't my first payment, but I did have to verify some additional income from a part-time job on my last certification. Maybe that triggered some additional review. I'll definitely contact EDD directly.

btw u can set up direct deposit now instead of the card. switched last month and its WAY faster, like 1 day usually

•Really? I thought the Money Network card was the only option now. I'll definitely look into setting up direct deposit. Thanks for the tip!

•Just to clarify, the direct deposit option was reintroduced in January 2025. To set it up, go to your UI Online account, select "Payment Methods" from the menu, and then "Update Payment Method." You'll need your bank routing and account numbers. The change takes effect after your next certification cycle.

UPDATE: Finally got through to EDD this morning! Turns out there was a "payment verification hold" on my account because I reported some part-time income on my last certification. The rep released the hold and said funds should be available within 24-48 hours. For anyone else experiencing this issue, definitely call EDD directly - the Money Network support can't help with these kinds of holds.

•I called right when they opened at 8:00 AM and waited about 45 minutes. Much better than my previous attempts. Good luck!
