EDD PFL phone system suddenly routing to Money Network instead of claim status - what's happening?

Anyone else experiencing weird issues with the EDD PFL phone system? I submitted my baby bonding claim about 3 weeks ago, and previously when I called their number, it would ask for my SSN, DOB, and ZIP code, then tell me the date they received my claim. But today something strange happened - it only asked for my SSN and then immediately started giving me information about the Money Network card! No claim status at all.\n\nI'm getting really anxious because I need to know if my claim is processing properly. My maternity disability just ended last week, and I can't afford any gaps in payment with a newborn. Has the system changed? Is anyone else getting routed to Money Network info instead of their actual claim status? What number are you successfully using to check on PFL claims?

So frustrating! Did you try calling at a different time of day? I'm wondering if their system routes differently during busy hours or something.

This is a known issue that happens periodically when they update their phone systems. The PFL division and the payment card division sometimes have their phone trees crossed temporarily. Here's what you need to do:\n\n1. Instead of the general PFL line, try the specific claims status number: 1-800-480-3287\n2. When prompted, press 1 for English, then 1 again for claim information \n3. Have your claim ID ready (should be on any correspondence) rather than relying solely on SSN\n\nIf that doesn't work, there are two other options:\n- Check your status through your UI Online account if you have one set up\n- Try calling Tuesday-Thursday between 8-11am, which tends to have better routing success\n\nThis usually gets resolved within 5-7 business days when their IT team fixes the routing issue. Hope this helps!

Thank you so much for these detailed steps! I'll try that specific number tomorrow morning. I've been checking my UI Online account but it just shows my claim was received with no other updates. Really appreciate the help!

is this ur first baby?? congrats!! the whole edd system is TERRIBLE with both my kids. they lost my paperwork twice for my first baby and with my second one they kept sending letters saying they needed more info but never said what info?? took forever to get my money. the phone thing is probably just another stupid glitch. EDD is seriously the worst government agency ever.

Same experience! My PFL claim took 8 weeks to process for my twins because they kept saying they needed

I had exactly this issue back in February when transitioning from pregnancy disability to baby bonding. The phone system was redirecting to Money Network for about a week. It turned out they were doing some system maintenance.\n\nWhat worked for me was using Claimyr to connect with an actual EDD agent. It's a service that navigates the phone maze for you and calls you back when they have an agent on the line. I was skeptical at first but it saved me hours of frustration. Their website is claimyr.com and they have a video demo showing how it works: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM?si=6N1iCQ3a8Cdb2Ay5\n\nThe agent I finally spoke with confirmed my claim was processing normally despite the phone system issues. Apparently lots of people were experiencing the same problem but weren't aware their claims were still being processed.

I've never heard of Claimyr before - did it actually work to get through? I'm desperate at this point and willing to try anything that might help me talk to a real person!

Yes, it definitely worked for me! I got connected to an agent within about 25 minutes (versus the 3+ hours I'd spent trying on my own). The agent confirmed my baby bonding claim was actually being processed normally despite the phone system giving me weird redirects. They have a money-back guarantee if they don't connect you, which made me feel better about trying it.

THE SAME THING IS HAPPENING TO ME RIGHT NOW!!!! I'm so stressed out I could cry. My disability ended on Feb 28 and my PFL should have started March 1st. I filed everything on time and now I have NO IDEA if it's processing or not because of this stupid phone system. I have bills due next week and nothing in my account. This is RIDICULOUS!!! Why can't they just have a functioning website that actually shows claim status in real time?? Why are we forced to call and deal with this nightmare??

I completely understand your frustration. For the quickest resolution, try checking your UI Online account - sometimes the claim status appears there before the phone system updates. Also, if you're transitioning from disability to PFL, there's often a processing delay of 10-14 days between programs, but payments are typically backdated to your start date once approved.

UPDATE: I just spoke with a supervisor at EDD. They confirmed they're having a technical issue with their phone system that's affecting PFL claim status checks. It's directing people to Money Network information incorrectly. They expect it to be resolved by next Tuesday (March 26th). In the meantime, they recommend checking your UI Online account or using the automated system between 5am-7am when the system load is lowest.\n\nIf you absolutely need to speak with someone, try calling the technical support line at 1-855-327-7057 instead of the regular claims line, as they can sometimes see claim status and aren't experiencing the routing issue.

Thank you SO MUCH for this update! I'll try the technical support line tomorrow morning. It's such a relief to know it's a system issue and not something wrong with my specific claim.

THANK YOU!!! I just called that technical support number and they were able to confirm my claim is actually processing! What a relief. They said it should be paid out by next Friday. Why couldn't they just put this information on their website??
