EDD approved one week but funds not showing on my BofA card - new card coming?
So confused right now. After filing my new claim last week, I finally got through to EDD yesterday (after like 20 attempts calling). The rep said they fixed something and switched one of my weeks from pending to paid status, but the other week is still waiting for some reason. My issue now is I don't see any money on my Bank of America EDD card app yet. My old card doesn't expire until May, but I'm worried they might be sending me a new one since this is technically a new claim? Does anyone know if I should be expecting a new card, or will the funds just show up on my existing card in a day or two? The EDD website shows the payment as issued but I'm getting anxious because rent is coming up fast.

they always use same card unless yours is expired. the money takes like 1-2 business days after it shows paid on UI Online to actually show up in BofA account. check tomorrow

•Thanks for that! I'll try to be patient and check again tomorrow. The EDD website is so confusing sometimes with what "paid" actually means.

The funds should appear on your existing card as long as it's not expired. Typically after EDD shows "paid" status, there's a processing period of 24-48 hours before Bank of America actually loads the funds to your card. This is normal procedure. You can verify this by checking your payment history on UI Online - if it shows the payment was issued with a transaction number, then you're good. The money is coming to your current card.

•This info is kinda wrong actually. If u havent used ur card in over 12 months they WILL send a new one even if old one isnt expired. Happened to me and took almost 3 weeks to get the new one!!! EDD told me they automatically reissue after long periods of inactivity. So frustrating!!

Update: Just checked this morning and the money is in my BofA account now! Took about 36 hours after the status changed to paid. Still waiting on that second week to switch from pending though...

•That's good news! For your pending week, sometimes they hold weeks for eligibility interviews or additional verification. Did the rep mention anything about why that week wasn't processed?

I HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM LAST MONTH!!! Took me forever to get through to someone at EDD to fix the first week but then the second week was still stuck. Had to wait ANOTHER whole week calling every day until someone finally fixed it. The whole system is DESIGNED to be frustrating so people just give up asking for their benefits. Makes me so angry how they treat us!

•If you're having trouble getting through to an EDD representative, I'd recommend trying Claimyr (claimyr.com). I was in the same situation with weeks stuck in pending, and after days of trying to call myself, I used their service and got connected to an EDD rep in about 20 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km. Saved me so much frustration with the constant busy signals and disconnections.

Back when I had a similar issue last year, I learned that the "paid" status on UI Online and the actual Bank of America deposit are processed by completely different systems. EDD marks it paid in their system first, then sends a file to BofA for processing, which takes 1-2 business days typically. About your second week - if you have any wage discrepancies or reported any earnings for that week, it often triggers a manual review.

•not always true about the earnings thing. i always report my part time earnings and still get paid same timeline as regular weeks. depends on if the computer flags something random

Wait I'm confused about something... when you say "new claim" do you mean an entirely new benefit year or just new weeks on an existing claim? Because those are totally different things. If it's a new benefit year then yes they might send a new card even though the old one isn't expired. Also did you verify your identity again with ID.me for this new claim? That can delay payments too.

•It's a completely new benefit year - my old one expired and I had to refile. And yes, I did have to do the ID.me verification again, which was a pain but went through OK. I'm just worried because last time I filed a new claim (2 years ago) they did send a new card even though my old one was still valid.

Just wanted to share my experience - when I filed a new claim after my benefit year ended in January, they did NOT send me a new card. The funds were loaded onto my existing Bank of America EDD card. However, I did receive a letter in the mail about a week after my first payment was processed confirming that my existing card would be used. So you might get similar confirmation soon.

•Thank you! This is really helpful. I'll watch for a letter like that. At least I know the money from the first week is safely on my card now.

btw if ur second week stays pending too long u should ask for a tier 2 specialist when u call. regular agents cant fix certain holds on ur account

•Good to know! I'll specifically ask for a tier 2 specialist if I need to call again. Really appreciate everyone's help here.
