EDD Money Network card not received after payment posted - normal wait time?
I'm really confused about the EDD debit card situation. My UI claim was approved 2 weeks ago and my first payment of $565 shows as 'paid' on UI Online since Monday. The website says something about the Money Network card being mailed 7-10 business days after first payment, but I've been counting the days and getting anxious. I have bills due next week and really need access to these funds! Does the card automatically get mailed after the payment posts to my account? Do I need to do anything to trigger the card being sent? Has anyone recently received their card - how long did it actually take? I'm in Riverside county if that matters for mail delivery times.

•Thanks! Did you get any kind of tracking number or notification that it was sent? I'm just paranoid it got lost in the mail or something.

The Money Network debit card is automatically mailed after your first payment is processed - you don't need to do anything to trigger it. The 7-10 business days is their estimate, but in 2025 I've noticed it's taking closer to 10-14 business days for most people. Remember that's business days, not calendar days, so weekends don't count. One important thing to know is that even after you receive the card, you'll need to activate it before you can use it. The activation process requires your EDD Customer Account Number (which is different from your Social Security Number). If it's been more than 14 business days, you should call Money Network directly at 1-866-320-8699 to check on the status of your card.

•This is so helpful, thank you! I didn't realize it could take up to 14 business days. I'll wait a bit longer before panicking. Is my Customer Account Number on my UI Online account somewhere? I want to make sure I have it ready when the card arrives.

Yes, your EDD Customer Account Number is on your UI Online account. You can find it under "Profile" then "Personal Information". It's also on any correspondence EDD has sent you including your award letter. If you absolutely need the funds before your card arrives, once the Money Network card has been issued (typically 5-7 days after your first payment), you can call Money Network directly and request an emergency cash transfer to another bank account for a small fee. Not many people know about this option!

•i didn't know about the emergency cash transfer! wish someone told me that when i was starving for 2 weeks waiting for my stupid card to show up!! the EDD system is such a JOKE - why can't they just offer direct deposit like a normal government agency in 2025???? making us wait for plastic cards in the mail is prehistoric!

My card took 13 business days to arrive and I live in San Bernardino which is pretty close to you. The crazy thing is my roommate got his card in 6 days! Same address! Makes absolutely no sense how they send these things out. You just have to be patient unfortunately.

•That's so random! I wonder if they send them out in batches from different locations or something. I guess I'll just keep waiting and hope it comes soon.

If you're still having trouble reaching EDD to check on your card status, I highly recommend trying Claimyr. I was in a similar situation and couldn't get through on the phones for days. Claimyr got me connected to an EDD representative in about 20 minutes who was able to confirm my card had been mailed and gave me the exact date to expect it. Saved me a lot of anxiety! They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km and their website is claimyr.com. It was way better than spending hours redialing EDD's number.

•is this an ad or something? why would i pay someone to call edd when i can just wait on hold myself?

•Not an ad - just sharing what worked for me when I was in a similar situation. If you have all day to keep redialing and waiting on hold, then by all means go for it. I just didn't have that luxury with my work schedule.

One more thing to consider - make sure your mailing address in UI Online is correct and up to date. If there's any discrepancy, your card could be sent to the wrong address. I've seen cases where people moved recently and the card was sent to their old address, causing significant delays. Also, if you've had a previous EDD claim in the past three years, they might not send a new card. They'll just reload funds onto your existing card. Did you have an unemployment claim before?

•Oh! That might be it! I did have a claim back in 2023 but I thought that card expired. I'll have to look for my old card now - I think it might be in a box somewhere from when I moved. If they're reloading my old card, can I just call Money Network and ask for a replacement?

•Yes! That's most likely what's happening. The Money Network cards are valid for 3 years from issue date, so your 2023 card is still valid. Call Money Network at 1-866-320-8699 and tell them you need a replacement card. They can expedite it for a fee if you need it urgently. In the meantime, if you find your old card, you should be able to use it immediately as the funds are probably already loaded on it. Just make sure you know your PIN or have your account information ready to reset it if needed.

Glad you figured it out! For future reference (and for others reading this thread), I recommend setting up direct deposit through UI Online. It's much faster than waiting for funds to be loaded onto the Money Network card. The direct deposit option became available in late 2024 and it typically gets you your benefits 2-3 days faster than the debit card method.

•I switched to direct deposit too and it's WAY better! But just be aware that your first payment after switching still goes to the card. Only subsequent payments go direct deposit. Learned that the hard way lol.
