EDD deposit delays today - anyone else waiting longer than usual?
Has anyone noticed EDD deposits taking extra long today? I normally get my UI payment within hours after I certify, but it's been almost 24 hours and nothing's hit my account yet. My certification status shows 'paid' in the UI Online portal since yesterday morning, but the money hasn't actually transferred to my bank account. Is this happening to anyone else or should I be worried? My rent is due in 3 days and I'm starting to stress out!

•Ok that makes me feel a little better that I'm not the only one. Any idea if there's like a holiday or system update causing delays?

This happens sometimes. There can be delays in the transfer between EDD showing 'paid' and the actual deposit hitting your account, especially if you're using direct deposit instead of the Money Network card. If the system shows 'paid' status, you shouldn't worry too much. The money is allocated to you, but bank processing times vary. Also, if Monday was President's Day or another bank holiday, that could add an extra business day to processing time.

•but ive had direct deposit for 8 months and its ALWAYS been next day, even after holidays

•Monday wasn't a holiday though, that's why I'm confused. And like the other person said, I've had consistent next-day deposits for months now. Something seems different this time.

I had this exact problem last month where my payment showed as 'paid' but took 3 extra days to deposit. When I finally got through to an EDD rep, they explained that sometimes they do random verification holds or their payment processing system has maintenance issues that aren't announced publicly. If your UI Online account shows 'paid' and not 'pending,' your money is definitely coming - just delayed in transit.

•Thanks, that's reassuring! Did you have to do anything special to get it resolved or it just showed up eventually?

•It resolved itself after 3 days, but I still called just to make sure there wasn't a problem with my account. Getting through to someone was the hardest part - took me like 30+ calls over two days.

TYPICAL EDD INCOMPETENCE!!! They expect us to certify ON TIME every two weeks but can't even process payments consistently! I'm in the same boat - certified Sunday, shows paid, NO MONEY. When I call the automated line it says payment issued but NOTHING in my account. This happened to me twice before and both times it was because of some "system upgrade" they never bothered to tell anyone about. Meanwhile we all have BILLS TO PAY!!!

My friend had this happen and found out his bank was actually holding the deposit for 24 hours for some reason. Have you checked with your bank? Sometimes they put holds on government deposits that they don't normally put on other deposits. Just a thought.

•I didn't think to check with the bank! I'll give them a call too, thanks for the suggestion.

If you're worried, you should try reaching EDD directly to check if there's a system-wide delay or if it's specific to your claim. I had luck using Claimyr.com to get through to an EDD representative when I had a similar issue with delayed payment. It helped me skip the busy signals and actually talk to someone who could check my claim status. They have a video demo showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km - definitely worth it when you're waiting on money you need for rent.

•Thanks for the tip. I've been trying to call all morning and keep getting the "we're experiencing high call volume" message. I'll check out that service if my deposit doesn't show up by tomorrow.

•I tried calling 14 TIMES today and couldn't get through. Is this service legit? Seems weird to pay money to talk to EDD when they SHOULD be available to us already!

UPDATE: Just checked the EDD Twitter account and they posted about 30 minutes ago that they're experiencing a delay in payment processing due to a system maintenance issue that ran longer than expected. They say all payments should be completed within 24-48 hours. Here's the link to their official Twitter announcement: [link removed by moderator - please don't post external links]

•Thank you SO MUCH for finding this info! I don't use Twitter so I would have never seen this. At least now I know what's happening and can stop worrying.

Just checked my account and my deposit finally hit! About 36 hours after certification showed as 'paid' - much longer than normal. Check your accounts everyone!
