EDD payment delayed - direct deposit not showing up after certification
I certified for my weekly benefits on Sunday at midnight like I always do, and it's already Thursday morning with NOTHING in my bank account! My UI Online account shows 'paid' status since Tuesday, but the money isn't there. I called my bank and they don't see any pending deposits either. My rent is due tomorrow and my landlord isn't exactly the understanding type. This is the first time I've had a delay since switching to direct deposit three months ago. Is the EDD system having issues? Has anyone else received their direct deposit this week? I'm starting to panic!!

There's actually a processing delay happening with EDD payments this week. I certified Sunday too and my payment just hit my account this morning. If your UI Online shows 'paid', you should be fine - the transfer to your bank is just taking longer than usual. They're probably dealing with system maintenance or something.

•That's a relief to hear I'm not the only one! Did they send you any notification about the delay? I didn't get anything. So frustrating when they don't communicate these things!

•6 days?! I can't wait that long! Did you try calling them when it happened before? I've been trying to call all morning but can't get through.

If your UI Online shows 'paid' status, the money has been authorized and is in transit. This could be a bank processing delay rather than an EDD issue. Most banks take 1-3 business days to process ACH transfers, and some count differently what constitutes a 'business day.' Have you checked if your bank deposit agreement has specific timeframes for government deposits? Also, did you recently change any banking information that might have triggered additional verification?

•I haven't changed any banking info. My deposit agreement just says 2 business days for direct deposits, and it's been 2 days already since the 'paid' status showed up. Previous payments always hit my account the same day UI Online showed 'paid' - that's why I'm concerned.

I was having the same issue of not getting through to EDD about my delayed payments. After spending DAYS trying to call them about a similar situation (showed paid but no deposit), I found this service called Claimyr that got me connected to an EDD rep in about 20 minutes. It basically keeps calling EDD for you until it gets through. Saved me hours of frustration! Their site is claimyr.com and they have a video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km. The agent I spoke with confirmed there was a processing delay this week affecting direct deposits for many claimants.

•Thank you! I've never heard of this service before. I'll check it out if my money doesn't arrive by tomorrow. Did the EDD rep give you any timeline for when the delayed payments would process?

•The rep told me that most of the delayed payments should process within 3-4 business days from the 'paid' status date. She said they're aware of the issue and working on it, but didn't give a specific reason for the delay. Definitely worth calling to check on your specific case though!

When this happened to me last month I found out my bank was actually holding the deposit for review because it was slightly higher than my usual amount (I had reported some reduced hours for that period). Might be worth calling your bank again and specifically asking if they're holding any pending government deposits for review. Sometimes they don't tell you this unless you specifically ask.

You know what's RIDICULOUS about this whole system?? They expect us to certify ON TIME every two weeks, but when it comes to THEM paying US, suddenly delays are perfectly acceptable!!! I've had THREE payment delays in the past six months with ZERO explanation or warning. Call the 800 number? HAHA good luck getting through! Check UI Online? NO INFO WHATSOEVER about system delays! Meanwhile my landlord and utility companies don't care about "EDD processing delays" - they just want their money ON TIME! The system is DESIGNED to be frustrating!!!!!

•EXACTLY!!! If we're even one day late certifying, our whole claim gets messed up. But they can be days late paying us with zero consequences. It's completely unfair.

Just as an update for everyone in this thread - I called EDD this morning and they confirmed they're experiencing a technical issue with their direct deposit processing system that started Monday night. The representative said most delayed payments should process by tomorrow (Friday). They're not sending notifications about it, but they're aware of the problem.
