EDD payment status shows 'paid' but no deposit after holiday weekend - normal delay?
I'm getting nervous about my latest EDD payment. My UI Online account updated to 'paid' status on Sunday (10/23), and normally I'd see the deposit on my Bank of America card by 9:30am Monday morning. I know yesterday was a bank holiday, so I expected a slight delay, but it's Tuesday afternoon now and still nothing in my account. The EDD website shows the payment as 'paid/deposited' but the money isn't there. Should I be worried? Is this just a normal delay because of the holiday? Anyone else experiencing longer deposit times this week? Trying to decide if I should wait it out or spend hours trying to get someone on the phone.

its normal after a holiday. just wait till tmrw morning. banks process stuff differently on holidays and sometimes theres a backlog the next day. mine always takes an extra day when theres a monday holiday

•Thanks for the reassurance! I'm just extra anxious because rent is due Friday and I need this to clear. Have you ever had it take more than one extra day after a holiday?

This happens quite regularly after bank holidays. There are two separate systems at work: EDD's payment processing and the banking system. EDD might show 'paid' because they've processed your payment on their end, but the ACH transfer through the banking system gets delayed because of the holiday. In my experience with Money Network, you should see it by tomorrow morning. If you don't have the deposit by Thursday morning, then I'd consider calling EDD to inquire.

•That makes perfect sense about the two systems. I'll give it until Thursday morning then. Really hoping it comes through tomorrow!

I went through the exact same thing after Labor Day weekend! My payment showed as 'paid' on Sunday, but because Monday was a holiday, it didn't hit my account until Wednesday morning. The banking system basically treats holidays as non-business days, so everything gets pushed back. As long as your UI Online shows 'paid,' you're fine - the money is coming, just delayed. One tip: in the future, try to certify as early as possible on Sunday (12:01am if you can) to get through EDD's system faster.

OMG I'm in the SAME boat!!! Mine says paid since Sunday night but NOTHING in my account yet!! So frustrating! I have bills due TODAY and now I'm gonna get hit with late fees because of this stupid delay! Why can't they warn us about these things?? This is my first claim and I'm so stressed out about everything. Do holidays always mess up the payment schedule like this??

•Yes, any federal banking holiday will delay deposits. For future reference, check the Federal Reserve holiday calendar to plan ahead: New Year's, MLK Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, July 4th, Labor Day, Columbus/Indigenous Peoples' Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas all impact banking transactions.

If you need to check on your payment status, I'd recommend using Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an EDD agent. I was in a similar situation in July and spent days trying to reach someone. Claimyr got me connected to an agent within 20 minutes who confirmed my payment was processing normally despite the delay. Saved me a ton of stress! You can see how it works in their video demo: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km

•I've heard about Claimyr but wasn't sure if it actually worked. Did they ask for any personal info upfront? I'll check out the video, thanks for sharing. Might use it if my payment doesn't show up by Thursday.

•You just provide your phone number so they can connect the call - nothing sensitive like SSN or anything. They basically just help you bypass the busy signals and long waits. Definitely way better than spending hours redialing!

Just want to say that i had exsctly the same issue last presisdents day holiday and my payment SKIPPED a day and went straight to wednesday morning! dont freak out, these thing are normal because of how banks process ACH transfers after holidys. EDD sent the money but banks dont process everything till the next business day and sometimes theres a backlog!

•That's good to know! Wednesday isn't ideal but at least it's before my rent is due on Friday. Appreciate everyone's input - this community is really helpful!

•I certified around 2pm on Sunday. Didn't realize the timing made a difference! Will definitely try certifying right at midnight next time.

Quick update for anyone following this thread in the future: Holiday payment processing typically follows this pattern: 1. Sunday certification + Monday holiday = Tuesday or Wednesday deposit 2. EDD processes payments in batches - earlier certification usually means earlier batch processing 3. Money Network/BofA cards typically receive deposits 1-2 days after EDD shows 'paid' status 4. Direct deposit to personal bank accounts can take an additional business day As long as your status shows 'paid' in UI Online, your money is secure and on the way. The banking system just needs time to process it after a holiday.

Glad to hear your payment came through! This is exactly why I love this community - so many helpful people sharing their experiences. For anyone else reading this in the future, I'd also recommend signing up for text alerts through your bank so you get notified immediately when deposits hit your account. It really helps reduce the anxiety during these holiday delays. I learned that trick after my first few claims when I was constantly checking my balance every hour!

•That's a great tip about the text alerts! I just signed up for them through my bank app after reading this. I'm new to filing for unemployment and had no idea about all these little delays and quirks with the system. This thread has been super educational - definitely saving it for future reference. Really appreciate how supportive everyone is here!

I'm going through this exact same situation right now! My payment shows 'paid' since Sunday but still no deposit on my EDD debit card. Reading through all these comments is really reassuring - sounds like Wednesday deposits after Monday holidays are pretty normal. I'm definitely going to start certifying right at midnight on Sundays from now on, and I had no idea about checking the Federal Reserve holiday calendar to plan ahead. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences, this community is such a lifesaver for newcomers like me who are still learning how all this works!

•Welcome to the community! It's really nerve-wracking when you're new to the system and don't know what to expect. I just went through my first holiday delay a few months ago and was panicking until I found this forum. One thing I learned is to also keep screenshots of your UI Online payment status showing 'paid' - it gives you peace of mind and documentation if you ever need to call EDD. The midnight certification tip is gold too, though like someone mentioned earlier, it's not always a guarantee. Hope your payment comes through tomorrow morning!

This is such a helpful thread! I'm also dealing with a holiday delay right now - certified Sunday, shows 'paid' since Monday, but still waiting on my BofA card deposit. Reading everyone's experiences really puts my mind at ease. I had no idea that the timing of certification mattered or that there's a difference between EDD's system showing 'paid' and the actual ACH banking transfers. The Federal Reserve holiday calendar tip is brilliant - I'm bookmarking that for future planning. It's amazing how much stress these delays cause when you're depending on the money for bills, but this community makes it so much more manageable. Fingers crossed we all see our deposits hit tomorrow morning!

•Same here! I just certified this past Sunday and have been refreshing my bank app every few hours like a crazy person. It's such a relief to see I'm not the only one going through this right now. The whole ACH vs EDD system explanation really helped me understand what's actually happening behind the scenes. I never realized how much the banking holidays could throw off the timing. Definitely going to try that midnight certification strategy next time and set up those text alerts someone mentioned earlier. This community is incredible - so glad I found this thread instead of spending my whole day trying to get through to EDD on the phone!

This thread is exactly what I needed to see right now! I'm in the same boat - certified Sunday, status shows 'paid' since Monday morning, but still no deposit on my EDD card as of Wednesday afternoon. I was starting to panic thinking something went wrong with my claim, but reading everyone's experiences with holiday delays is so reassuring. The explanation about EDD's payment system vs the banking ACH system really clarifies what's happening. I had no clue that certification timing could make a difference either - definitely going to try the midnight strategy next time. Also bookmarking that Federal Reserve holiday calendar someone mentioned. It's frustrating when you're counting on that money for rent and bills, but at least now I know this is normal after holidays. Hopefully we all see our payments tomorrow morning! Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences and tips.

•I'm in the exact same situation! Certified Sunday, showing 'paid' since Monday, but still nothing on my BofA EDD card as of this afternoon. This thread has been a lifesaver - I was about to spend hours trying to call EDD thinking something was wrong with my claim. The whole ACH banking delay explanation makes so much sense now. I never knew holidays could push deposits back this far, but seeing everyone else going through the same thing is really comforting. Definitely going to start certifying right at midnight and checking those Federal Reserve holidays going forward. Fingers crossed we all wake up to deposits tomorrow morning! This community is amazing for helping newcomers like us understand how this whole system actually works.

Just wanted to add another data point for anyone searching this issue in the future! I've been on unemployment for about 8 months now and have gone through several holiday delays. Here's what I've learned: Columbus Day, Veterans Day, and Presidents Day seem to cause the longest delays (sometimes pushing deposits to Wednesday), while Memorial Day and Labor Day usually only delay by one day. The key thing is not to panic when you see "paid" status but no deposit - I've NEVER had a payment not come through eventually when it shows paid in UI Online. One more tip: if you're really stressed about timing, you can call your bank's automated line to check for pending deposits. Sometimes the money is there but just hasn't been released to your available balance yet. Hope this helps calm some nerves for people dealing with their first holiday delay!

•This is so helpful, thank you for breaking down which holidays cause longer delays! I'm dealing with my first holiday delay right now and had no idea some holidays were worse than others for payment timing. The tip about calling the bank's automated line to check for pending deposits is genius - I never thought to do that. It would definitely help with the anxiety of constantly refreshing the app. Really appreciate you sharing 8 months worth of experience, it's so reassuring to hear that payments always come through eventually when the status shows paid. This community has been incredible for helping me understand how this whole system works!
