EDD payment delay due to Memorial Day holiday - anyone else waiting?
Has anyone else's EDD payment been delayed because of the holiday weekend? I certified Sunday night like usual and normally I'd see my payment hit my account by Tuesday morning, but it's still showing as 'pending' in my UI Online account. I'm getting worried because I have rent due in 2 days. Do EDD payments always get pushed back after holidays? How long should I expect to wait before I start panicking?

yep happening to me too. soooo annoying!! rent due friday and landlord isnt exactly understanding about this stuff 🙄

This is normal for holiday weekends. Banks don't process ACH transfers on federal holidays, so everything gets pushed back by at least one business day. Memorial Day was Monday, so payments that would normally process Monday night/Tuesday morning are delayed until Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. If you have direct deposit, expect it tomorrow. If you have the Money Network card, it might show up late tonight.

EVERY SINGLE HOLIDAY this happens and EDD never bothers to warn anyone!!! They could easily put a notice on the website or send an email but noooo, they'd rather have thousands of people freaking out about paying bills. I've been on unemployment three times in the last 5 years and it's ALWAYS the same. This is why I keep a tiny emergency fund just for this nonsense. TOO MUCH STRESS!

•Honestly, EDD should be more transparent about this. In other states like New York, their unemployment departments actually post notices about holiday payment schedules right on the homepage. California's system needs so many improvements, starting with basic communication.

Im having the same issue i certified on sunday night and my payment is still pending i called edd this morning and they said its because of the holiday and should be processed by tonight i hope cuz i need to pay my phone bill

This is definitely due to the Memorial Day holiday. Any federal holiday will delay EDD payments by at least one business day. Here's how the payment schedule typically works after holidays: 1. If you certify on Sunday, normal payments would process Monday and appear Tuesday 2. With Monday holiday, processing happens Tuesday and payments appear Wednesday 3. For Money Network cards, funds might appear late Tuesday night in some cases 4. Direct deposit usually takes the full extra day If your payment doesn't show as "paid" (not just pending) in your UI Online account by tomorrow afternoon, then you might have other issues worth looking into.

anybody else ever notice that the EDD phone lines are even WORSE right after holidays? tried calling this morning to ask about my delay and couldn't even get through. just got the "we're experiencing high call volume" message over and over ðŸ˜

•I've had good luck using Claimyr to get through to EDD when the lines are jammed. It's a service that automates the calling process and gets you in the queue. Saved me hours of redial frustration. my certifcation from last sunday is still pending too but my roomate got her money yesterday?? we certified same time and both have the money network card... makes no sense!

•That's unusual. Does your roommate have a different certification schedule than you? Some people are assigned to certify every other week but on different weeks. Also, if one of you has had recent issues with your claim (eligibility interview, income reporting, etc.), that could explain why one payment processed normally while the other is delayed.

I'm on SDI not unemployment but we have the same payment system and mine is also delayed. Last time this happened was Presidents Day I think. Wish they would process payments BEFORE the holiday instead of making us all wait extra days.

•SDI and UI both use the same payment processing! When I was on SDI last year after my surgery it was the SAME exact problem every holiday. The whole system is so backwards!
