EDD payment delay after President's Day - anyone else not received funds yet?

Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing a payment delay after certifying this week? I normally get my EDD deposit the next day after certifying (like clockwork), but it's been 2 days now and nothing has shown up in my account. I certified Sunday night as usual. My claim status shows 'paid' in the UI Online portal since yesterday morning, but no money in my Bank of America account yet. Could the President's Day holiday on Monday be causing the delay? My rent is due Friday and I'm starting to get a bit nervous... Anyone else still waiting for their payment to hit their account?

Thanks for confirming! Was starting to worry something was wrong with my claim. Do you usually see a 2-day delay after holidays or could it be even longer?

The President's Day holiday definitely caused the delay. When there's a federal holiday, the banking system doesn't process ACH transfers on that day, so everything gets pushed back by at least one business day. Since you certified Sunday and Monday was a holiday, the EDD probably processed it Tuesday, which means funds typically hit accounts Wednesday or Thursday depending on your bank. If UI Online shows 'paid' status, you're good - the money is in transit. Nothing to worry about as long as your claim status shows 'paid' and not 'pending' or 'disqualified.'

This ^ I work at a credit union and we literally can't process the govt ACH files on federal holidays. The money isn't lost, just delayed in the banking system.

OMG I'M IN THE EXACT SAME SITUATION!!! I've been FREAKING OUT about this all day because I NEED that money for my car payment. Certified Sunday night, shows paid in the system, but NOTHING in my account yet. I called EDD like 57 times today and couldn't get through AT ALL. Just constant busy signals or that stupid message saying too many callers. Does ANYONE know if we'll definitely get it tomorrow or could it be even later???

If your UI Online account shows the payment as 'paid', the funds have been processed and sent to Bank of America. From there, it takes 1-2 business days to transfer to your personal account. With the holiday delay, you should definitely see it by tomorrow, Thursday at the latest. If you need to speak with an EDD representative about this or any other claim issues, I'd recommend using Claimyr (claimyr.com). They have a system that helps you get through to an EDD agent without spending your whole day redialing. It saved me hours of frustration last month when I had to fix a certification error. Not to scare you but my friend had his payment delayed for 2 weeks even though it said 'paid' in the system. EDD said it was a 'system glitch' and he had to call multiple times to get it fixed. Just saying it might be the holiday OR it could be something else. The EDD system is so broken.

Oh no, that's exactly what I'm worried about. Did your friend have to do anything special to get it resolved or just keep calling until he got through to someone helpful?

That kind of significant delay is extremely rare when the status already shows 'paid' in the system. The much more likely explanation is the federal holiday delay. If it doesn't arrive by Friday, then it would be worth contacting EDD, but I wouldn't worry about a 2-3 day delay immediately following a holiday.

when did u certify tho? i certified late sunday night and got my payment this morning. maybe check your bank of america card account directly instead of your regular bank? sometimes mine goes there first then transfers later

I certified Sunday around 8pm. That's interesting that you got yours today! I have direct deposit set up to my regular checking account (not the BoA card), so it should go straight there. Maybe it varies by bank or by region? I'm in Southern California.

This happens every federal holiday. The payment processing system follows this schedule: 1. You certify for benefits (Sunday for most people) 2. EDD processes certification (usually Monday) 3. Payment shows as 'paid' in system (usually Tuesday) 4. Bank processes transfer (usually Wednesday) 5. Money appears in your account (Wednesday/Thursday) When a holiday falls on any of those days, everything gets pushed back. Since Monday was President's Day, the standard timeline shifted by one day. Your payment is still coming - no need to worry unless it doesn't arrive by Friday.

This is super helpful! Thank you for breaking down the normal timeline. I feel much better knowing this is just the standard holiday delay and not an issue with my specific claim.
