EDD payment showing 'paid' online but no direct deposit yet - anyone else?

I certified for my UI benefits Sunday night (11/24) and checked my EDD account this morning - it shows 'paid' status already which is good news. But it's already noon and nothing has hit my bank account yet. I normally see the money in my account by 10am on Mondays without fail. Has anyone else who certified yesterday experiencing the same delay with their direct deposit? Starting to get a little worried since I have rent due in a few days and was counting on this money being available today. Is this just a banking holiday delay that I'm not aware of or should I be concerned something's wrong with my claim? EDIT: Never mind, money just landed in my account at 10:40am today! Just a slight delay, everything's fine. Posting this update in case anyone else was worried.

Thanks for the reassurance! You were right - just got the deposit at 10:40am. A little later than usual but not by much.

What you're experiencing is likely due to normal processing variations. EDD typically sends the payment instructions to Bank of America the same day it shows as 'paid' on your UI Online account, but there can be a 24-48 hour processing window before it appears in your personal bank account. This timing can fluctuate depending on your bank's processing schedules, especially around weekends or holidays. I'd recommend waiting until end of day tomorrow before getting concerned. If you don't see it by Wednesday morning, then you might want to contact EDD to verify the payment was correctly processed on their end.

If anyone is experiencing persistent issues with reaching EDD about payment problems, I recommend trying Claimyr (claimyr.com). I was having ongoing issues with delayed payments that weren't resolving themselves, and spent hours trying to reach an EDD representative. Claimyr helped me get through to an actual person at EDD in about 20 minutes instead of spending days redialing. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km Worth it when you're dealing with time-sensitive payment issues that could affect your ability to pay bills.

Does that service actually work? I tried calling EDD last month 57 TIMES IN ONE DAY and never got through. Always got that stupid "we're experiencing high call volume" message and then click, they hang up! So frustrating!!

Yes, it did work for me. The difference is they have a system that basically does the redialing for you until they secure a spot in the queue, then they call you back when they have an EDD rep on the line. Saved me a ton of frustration.

This is actually a common occurrence that happens at least once every few months with EDD payments. What's happening is the Bank of America EDD payment system sometimes gets slightly backed up, especially after weekends when there's a high volume of certifications all being processed at once. The "paid" status just means EDD has approved the payment and sent the instruction to Bank of America, but then B of A has to process it and send it to your bank, and then your bank has to process the incoming transfer. Each step can add time. If you see "paid" on your account, you're in good shape - the money is definitely coming. In my 14 months on unemployment, I've had payments arrive anywhere from 9am to 4pm on the expected day, and occasionally even the next day. As long as the status says "paid" and not "pending" or "disqualified," you're good!

That makes a lot of sense, thank you for explaining the whole process! And you're right - it did come through, just 40 minutes later than my usual time. Appreciate the detailed breakdown!

I certified around 8pm Sunday. Interesting theory about the timing - I never thought about that possibly making a difference! Mine came through at 10:40am today, so not too bad in the end.

THE SAME EXACT THING HAPPENED TO ME TODAY!!! I was FREAKING OUT because my car payment comes out tomorrow and I always get my money by 9:30am. I called my bank and they were useless as usual saying they don't see any pending deposits. BUT THEN IT RANDOMLY SHOWED UP AT 11:15am!!! I think maybe the holiday weekend messed up their normal schedule??? EDD is the WORST with communication!!! They could've at least put a notice on the website if deposits were going to be delayed!!

Glad to hear your payment came through! For future reference for anyone reading this thread: EDD payments typically follow this timeline: 1. Certification processing: 24-48 hours after you certify 2. Status changes to "paid" in UI Online: Usually same day or next day after processing 3. Bank of America processes the transfer: 24 hours 4. Your bank processes the incoming deposit: 24-48 hours depending on your bank So from certification to deposit can take 2-4 days in normal circumstances. Holiday weekends, system maintenance, or high volume periods can add delays. As long as your status shows "paid" in the portal, the money is on its way!

This is super helpful information! Thank you for laying out the complete timeline. I've saved this explanation for future reference.
