EDD account locked out - password reset not working for family leave claim. Help!

Hey everyone, I'm having trouble accessing my EDD account for family leave. I forgot my password and tried to reset it, but when I clicked the link in the email they sent, it just told me to call a number. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any tips on how to get this sorted out without spending hours on hold?

I found a way to solve EDD account password reset issues, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPNYKswXTgU

Ugh, classic EDD. Their online system is such a mess. I had the same issue last year and ended up having to call. It took forever to get through, but they were able to reset it for me over the phone. Good luck!

Same here! It's like they make it difficult on purpose 🙄 took me 3 days of calling to finally get through

0 coins

3 days? You got lucky. I spent a week trying to reach someone. EDD needs to get their act together fr

A week?! Oh man, I hope it doesn't take that long for me. This is stressful enough as it is.

I found a way to get someone on the phone without the endless hold times. I used this site called claimyr.com - it's a calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, and then connects you when a live agent picks up. It costs $20, but it saved me hours of frustration. Here's a video about how it works: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

20 bucks to skip the hold time? Idk man, seems kinda sketchy

I get the skepticism, but it's legit. Used it twice now. Way better than wasting a whole day on hold.

Just tried it and it worked! Got through in like 30 mins. Thx for the tip! 💯

Have you tried using a different browser or clearing your cache? Sometimes that can help with weird login issues.

Pro tip: call right when they open in the morning. You'll have a much better chance of getting through quickly. Also, try calling from a different phone number if possible - sometimes they limit calls from the same number.

This! I always call at 8:01 AM and usually get through within 15-20 minutes.

Wish I knew this sooner lol. Spent way too many lunch breaks on hold 😭

I feel your pain, OP. The EDD system is a nightmare. Have you tried reaching out to your local assembly member's office? They sometimes have direct lines to EDD and can help push things through faster.

0 coins

I hadn't thought of that! Do you know how I'd find my assembly member's contact info?

0 coins

Sure thing! Just go to findyourrep.legislature.ca.gov and enter your address. It'll give you all your reps' info. Good luck!

Okay, let me break this down for you. I've been through this rodeo before, and here's what you need to do: 1. First, try the password reset one more time. Sometimes it's just a glitch. 2. If that fails, you're gonna have to call. Use the main EDD number: 1-800-300-5616. 3. Best times to call are Tuesday-Thursday, either right when they open at 8am or around 1pm. 4. Have all your info ready: SSN, claim number, etc. 5. Be patient and polite with the rep - they deal with frustrated people all day. 6. If you can't get through, try that assembly member trick someone mentioned. 7. As a last resort, you might want to try that paid service someone mentioned. I haven't used it, but if you're desperate... Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up! The system is frustrating, but you'll get through eventually. Good luck!

This is gold 👌 Saving this for future reference!

Wish I had this info when I was dealing with EDD last year. You're the real MVP 🏆

Thank you so much for this detailed breakdown! Really appreciate you taking the time to write all this out. I'll definitely follow these steps.

anyone else think its ridiculous that we have to jump through all these hoops just to access our own accounts? the government needs to get with the times and upgrade their systems fr

Preach! 🙌 It's 2023 and we're still dealing with this nonsense

For real. My grandma could design a better system than this 😂

Hey OP, just wondering - did you try accessing the site on mobile? Sometimes the desktop version acts up but the mobile site works fine. Worth a shot before you spend hours on the phone!

I actually haven't tried that yet! Thanks for the suggestion, I'll give it a go right now.

I went through this exact same thing a few months ago! The password reset email links were completely broken for weeks. What finally worked for me was calling the technical support line (different from the main EDD number) at 1-866-333-4606. They have a separate queue just for account access issues and the wait times are usually shorter. When you call, press 1 for English, then 2 for technical support, then 3 for account lockout issues. The rep was able to unlock my account and help me set a new password right over the phone. Took maybe 45 minutes total including hold time. Hope this helps!

This is super helpful! I had no idea there was a separate technical support line. Definitely going to try this before dealing with the main number. Thanks for sharing the exact menu options too - that saves so much time!

OMG thank you for this!! I've been struggling with the same issue for days and had no clue about the technical support line. You just saved me so much frustration. Going to call them first thing tomorrow morning 🙏

Wait, really? There's a dedicated tech support line? I've been banging my head against the wall with the main number for weeks. This could be a game changer - definitely calling them tomorrow. Thanks for breaking down the menu options step by step!

Just wanted to add another option that worked for me - if you have the EDD mobile app installed, try logging in through there instead of the website. Sometimes the app can bypass whatever glitch is happening with the web portal. I had a similar lockout issue last month and the app let me reset my password when the website wouldn't. Also, make sure you're not using any password managers or autofill - EDD's system is super picky and sometimes manual entry works better. If all else fails, that tech support line someone mentioned sounds like a solid backup plan!

Great tip about the mobile app! I didn't even know EDD had one. Just downloaded it and going to try logging in that way first. Really appreciate all the different options everyone's sharing here - makes me feel less alone in dealing with this mess. The manual password entry tip is smart too, I always rely on autofill so I'll definitely try typing it out myself.

Had this exact issue just two weeks ago! What ended up working for me was clearing ALL my browser data (not just cache - cookies, stored passwords, everything) and then trying the password reset again in an incognito/private window. Apparently EDD's system gets confused if you have any old session data stored. Also, when you get the reset email, don't click the link directly - copy and paste it into a fresh browser window. I know it sounds weird but it worked for me after days of frustration. If that doesn't work, definitely try that technical support number someone mentioned - that's gold info right there!

This is such a great tip about clearing ALL browser data! I never would have thought to do that. The copy/paste trick for the reset link is really smart too - sometimes these government sites have the weirdest quirks. I'm definitely going to try this method first since it's something I can do right now without having to wait on hold. Thanks for sharing what worked for you!
