Can't log in to EDD account - forgot last payment amount from years ago. Help!
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble logging into my account. They keep asking for the last amount they gave me, but I honestly can't remember. It's been so long since I received anything from them, probably a decade or more. I've tried the forgot password option, but it still asks for that last amount. Anyone else run into this? Any ideas on how to get past this?

Ugh, I hate when they do this! It's like they expect us to keep track of every penny from years ago. Have you tried calling them directly? Sometimes talking to a real person can help bypass these stupid online security measures.

•I've been trying to call, but the wait times are insane. Spent 3 hours on hold yesterday before giving up 😫

•Pro tip: call right when they open. You might have better luck getting through.

I found a way to get someone on the phone fast. I used this site called claimyr.com. It's a calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, and then sends the call to your phone when a live agent picks up. It costs $20, but it worked for me. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

•I was skeptical at first too, but I can confirm it works. Saved me hours of frustration.

•20 bucks tho? Thats kinda steep for just a phone call 🤔

•I get it, but for me, it was worth not wasting an entire day on hold. Time is money, ya know?

Have you checked your old emails? Sometimes they send confirmation emails with payment amounts. Might be worth digging through your inbox if you haven't deleted everything.

This happened to me last year. I ended up having to go to their office in person with a ton of ID. It was a pain, but they were able to verify my identity and reset everything without needing that stupid payment amount. Might be worth a shot if you're near an office.

•That's good to know! There's an office about an hour from me. Might have to make the trip if I can't figure this out soon.

The whole system is broken af. They make it so hard to access our own accounts, it's ridiculous. I swear they do this on purpose to discourage people from claiming benefits. 🤬

•Preach! 🙌 It's like they forget these are OUR accounts with OUR money.

•Idk man, I think it's more about security. Identity theft is no joke.

•Security is one thing, but this is just straight up gatekeeping. There's gotta be a better way.

Here's what I'd recommend: 1. Try to locate any old paperwork or emails related to your account. Even if you can't find the exact amount, any documentation might help. 2. If you can't find anything, call their customer service line. Be prepared with: - Your Social Security number - Any old addresses you've had - Past employment details - Any claim numbers you might have 3. Explain your situation calmly. Ask if there are alternative ways to verify your identity. 4. If phone doesn't work, try visiting an office in person as someone else suggested. 5. As a last resort, you might need to file a new claim to essentially 'reset' your account. Remember, you're not the first person to face this issue. Stay persistent and don't be afraid to escalate to a supervisor if needed. Good luck!

Have you tried guessing? Sometimes they give you a few attempts before locking you out. Maybe try round numbers like $100, $500, etc. Worth a shot before going through the hassle of calling or visiting an office.

•I've tried a few guesses, but no luck so far. I'm worried about getting locked out completely if I guess too many times. 😰

•Ah, fair point. Yeah, maybe best to stick with the official channels then. Don't wanna make things worse.

This is why I always screenshot EVERYTHING. Never know when some random info from years ago will come back to bite you. Lesson learned for next time, I guess.

I went through this exact same nightmare about 6 months ago! What finally worked for me was going through their "Account Recovery" process instead of the regular login. You have to fill out a form with as much personal info as possible (SSN, old addresses, employment history, etc.) and they'll review it manually. It takes about 2-3 weeks, but they eventually sent me a temporary password via mail. Way better than trying to remember some random payment amount from forever ago. The form is buried deep in their website under "Help" > "Account Issues" if I remember correctly. Hope this helps!

•Oh my gosh, thank you @Rajiv Kumar! This is exactly what I needed to hear. I had no idea there was an account recovery option - I've been banging my head against the wall with the regular login. I'm definitely going to look for that form right now. 2-3 weeks sounds way better than spending hours on hold every day. Really appreciate you sharing your experience! 🙏

I had a similar issue a few years back! What ended up working for me was contacting my local state assembly member's office. I know it sounds weird, but they actually have staff who help constituents with government agency issues like this. They were able to contact EDD directly on my behalf and got my account sorted within a week. Just had to provide them with my basic info and explain the situation. Worth trying if the other suggestions don't pan out - it's a free service and way faster than the normal channels!

•Wow, I never would have thought to contact my assembly member's office! That's such a clever idea. I'm dealing with this exact same login nightmare right now and have been pulling my hair out trying to remember some payment amount from like 8 years ago. Definitely going to try this if the account recovery form doesn't work out. Thanks for sharing this tip @Aliyah Debovski - you might have just saved my sanity! 😅
