EDD account locked - can't remember last payment amount or access old BofA card
I'm in a frustrating situation trying to log back into my EDD account after not using it for several years. The system is asking for my last payment amount for verification, but it's been so long I honestly don't remember what that was. To make matters worse, I no longer have my old Bank of America EDD debit card (lost it during a move), so I can't even log in to that account to check the payment history. Has anyone dealt with this before? If I manage to get through to an EDD representative on the phone, would they be able to help me access my account without needing this old BofA card information? I'm worried they'll just tell me to remember information that's impossible for me to recall at this point.

Yes, an EDD rep can definitely help with this. They can verify your identity using other methods like your SSN, address history, and employment details. You don't need your old BofA card info specifically. The challenge is actually getting through to someone on the phone - be prepared to call right when they open and still face busy signals for hours. I went through something similar last fall when reactivating my old claim after 2+ years.

•That's a relief! Do you know what kind of verification questions they typically ask instead? I'm nervous about not remembering enough details from my old claim.

they made me answer like 5 other identity questions when i couldnt remember my last payment. had to confirm old addresses, last employer phone #, and the date i first filed originally. took like 15 mins but they got me back in

•Thanks! Did you just call the main EDD customer service line? I've heard horror stories about wait times.

I had a similar issue but worse! Couldn't remember my payment amount AND had legally changed my name since my last claim. Called for THREE DAYS straight and kept getting the 'too many callers' message. Eventually tried using Claimyr.com to get through - they connected me to an EDD agent in about 20 minutes. There's a video showing how it works here: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km. The rep reset my security questions and got me back into my account. They just asked for my SSN, DOB, address, and had me confirm details about my previous employers.

•Is that service legit? Seems sketchy to pay someone just to make a phone call.

•I was skeptical too but it worked for me. They don't actually answer any questions for you - they just connect you to an actual EDD rep who handles everything. I wasted days trying to get through on my own.

NOBODY NEEDS THE OLD BOFA CARD ANYMORE!!! EDD switched to Money Network cards in July 2021 anyway, so that old BofA info is totally irrelevant now. What's happening is you're trying to recover access to an online account where you set up security questions/verification years ago. EDD agents CAN help with this but good luck getting through on the phone!!!! I spent 8 DAYS calling repeatedly before I got through last month. The system is BROKEN.

•I didn't realize they'd completely switched card providers! That makes sense why the system seems so confused about my old info. 8 days of calling sounds absolutely miserable though...

To add some clarification: EDD implemented a new identity verification system for UI Online in mid-2023, which is likely why you're being asked for the last payment amount as a security measure. Since you had a previous claim using the old BofA system, this information is still stored in your profile even though EDD now uses Money Network for current payments. When you call, ask specifically for account recovery assistance rather than general claim help. The representative will need to verify your identity through alternative methods and can reset your verification questions. Be prepared with your SSN, the exact name on your previous claim, your previous address, and details about your former employer. Having your old claim number would be extremely helpful, if you have access to any previous EDD correspondence.

•This is extremely helpful, thank you! I think I still have some mail from EDD in my filing cabinet, so I'll look for my claim number.

•This is not advisable. Creating multiple UI Online accounts tied to the same SSN can trigger fraud alerts and potentially lead to claim delays or investigations. The system will eventually detect duplicate accounts.

Update: Finally got through to EDD this morning! Called right at 8:00 AM and still waited about 45 minutes. The rep was actually really helpful - verified my identity using my SSN, address history, and information about my previous employers. She reset my security questions and helped me set up new verification methods. For anyone else facing this issue, they don't actually need the old BofA card info at all. Thanks everyone for your advice!
