Need help remembering EDD payment amount from 2021 to recover account access

Hey everyone, I'm in a frustrating situation trying to log back into my EDD account from the pandemic era. The system is asking for my last payment amount from March 2021 as some kind of security verification, but I honestly don't remember the exact figure. I know I was getting the federal minimum unemployment amount in California at that time. Does anyone recall what that payment amount was? I've searched through old emails but can't find the payment notifications, and I really need to access my account to get my tax documents for this year. Any help would be super appreciated!

The base unemployment amount in California during that time was $167 per week if you were receiving the minimum. But during March 2021, there was also the federal FPUC supplement of $300 per week that was added to everyone's payments. So your weekly payment would have been $467 total ($167 state + $300 federal). But the security question might be asking for the exact deposit amount after taxes if you had those withheld. Did you have taxes taken out?

Thank you! I think I did have taxes withheld, maybe 10%? Not totally sure though. Would that have been taken from the full amount or just the state portion?

Actually, I went through this exact same thing last month! The security question is specifically asking for the net amount after taxes (if you had them withheld). If you had the standard 10% federal tax withholding, your payment would have been $420.30 ($467 minus $46.70 in taxes). That's what worked for me when I had to recover my account access. Hope this helps!

That's super helpful, thanks! I'm pretty sure I did have the 10% withholding. I'll try $420.30 and see if that works. Really appreciate it!

I swear EDD makes everything SO DIFFICULT!!! Why can't they just use email verification or text codes like NORMAL websites?? I had the same problem and ended up having to call them 37 TIMES before I got through to reset my account. It's like they're still living in 1995!!

If the payment amount doesn't work, try calling EDD directly to explain your situation. I had trouble getting through on their main line, but I discovered a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that helped me connect with an EDD agent without the endless redial nightmare. They have a demo video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km The agent I spoke with was able to verify my identity using other information and reset my account access. Much better than trying to remember exact payment amounts from years ago!

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll try the payment amount first, but if that doesn't work, I might check out that service. Did it take long to get connected to an actual person?

Got connected in about 20 minutes instead of spending all day hitting redial. The agent was able to verify me through other questions and reset my security info. Definitely worth it if you're stuck!

Just to clarify some technical details: The security verification is specifically looking for the amount that was deposited into your account or sent via check/debit card. If you had taxes withheld, it would be asking for the post-tax amount. Also, make sure you're entering the amount exactly as it would appear - so $420.30 would be entered as 420.30 (no dollar sign or commas). If you're still having trouble, you can request official payment history by submitting form DE 8714 to EDD, but that takes time to process. Calling is probably faster if the suggested amounts don't work.

He should use his existing account. If he creates a new one, it could cause issues with his claim history. He'll need to log into UI Online and there should be an option to reopen a claim if he's eligible. The system will tell him if his benefit year is still active or if he needs to file a new claim.
