Anybody else think its crazy that we have to jump through all these hoops just to get money we're entitled to? The whole system needs an overhaul tbh
If one works FULL time Monday to Friday and then is on call every other weekend 24/7 as well, Would one be eligible for EDD Paid family leave on the off weekends? Daughter was born few months ago and wondering if I can claim on weekends only? Because I got denied with it saying: "You are requesting benefits for a period outside of your normal contractual employment period. You must be working or looking for work when the need for family care arises. The period for which you are requesting benefits to provide care is outside of your normal employment contract. Basis: California Unemployment Insurance Code, section 140.5"Â So this makes it sound like they think I'm not working full time, but I am. So do I have grounds for an appeal to claim every other weekend for paid family leave? Or no. Thanks.
Ive had this happen b4. turned out i accidentally clicked the wrong option when filing. double check everything u submitted
I'll go back and review everything. Thanks for the tip!
This system is so broken. We need to start a petition or something to get them to fix it. Who's with me?
I'm in! This has gone on for way too long.
Good luck with that. They don't care about us 🙄
Pro tip: if u can't get thru on the main line, try calling one of the foreign language lines and then ask to be transfered to an english speaking rep. Worked for me!
Hey OP, how long has it been since you got the extension? There's usually a processing time of 2-3 weeks.
It's been about 4 weeks now. I guess I'm just outside the normal timeframe. 😕
Ah, gotcha. Yeah, might be time to start making some calls then. Good luck!
OMG THIS IS SO RELATABLE 😠I've been trying to get my military leave pay sorted for months. EDD is a black hole where claims go to die. Sending you good vibes, hope you get through soon!
Thanks for the support! It's nice to know I'm not alone in this struggle. Hope your situation gets resolved soon too!
Hot take: the whole system is designed to be frustrating so people give up. Stay strong and keep fighting for what you're owed! 💪
Preach! 🙌 It's like they're hoping we'll just forget about the money they owe us.

Pro tip: If you do end up owing money, ask about a payment plan. They're usually pretty flexible about it.

Anyone else feel like they need a law degree just to navigate this stuff? 🤔 Why can't they make it simpler?
