EDD Back Pay Delay: How Long Did It Take You to Get Paid?

Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my EDD back pay. I filed a claim a while ago and I'm still waiting to hear back about it. Has anyone else dealt with this? How long did it take for you to get your back pay sorted out? Any advice on how to speed up the process would be really appreciated!

Ugh, I feel your pain. I've been waiting on my back pay for MONTHS now. It's so frustrating! Have you tried calling them? That's what I did, but it's like impossible to get through πŸ™„

Calling is a nightmare! I spent hours trying to get through and when I finally did, they just told me to wait. So helpful πŸ™ƒ

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 minutes on hold that way!

Thanks for the tip! I'll give that a shot tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed 🀞

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

Trust me, after spending days trying to get through, $20 was totally worth it to finally talk to someone and get my issue resolved.

Here's what worked for me: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your attempts to contact EDD, including dates and times. 2. Reach out to your local state representative. They often have contacts within EDD and can help push your case forward. 3. Be persistent but polite when you do get through. The person on the other end is probably overwhelmed too. 4. Check your online account regularly for any updates or requests for additional information. 5. If you're really stuck, consider filing an appeal. It might take longer, but it ensures your case gets reviewed. Hope this helps! Hang in there, OP. The system is a mess right now, but you'll get your money eventually.

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely start keeping better records. Do you know how long the appeal process usually takes?

Appeals can take anywhere from 30 to 90 days, depending on how backed up they are. But at least it gets your case in front of someone who can actually make a decision.

Have you checked if theres any missing info on your claim? Sometimes they need additional docs but don't tell you πŸ™„

I didn't even think of that! I'll double-check my account. Thanks for the suggestion!

Anybody else think its crazy that we have to jump through all these hoops just to get money we're entitled to? The whole system needs an overhaul tbh

If one works FULL time Monday to Friday and then is on call every other weekend 24/7 as well, Would one be eligible for EDD Paid family leave on the off weekends? Daughter was born few months ago and wondering if I can claim on weekends only? Because I got denied with it saying: "You are requesting benefits for a period outside of your normal contractual employment period. You must be working or looking for work when the need for family care arises. The period for which you are requesting benefits to provide care is outside of your normal employment contract. Basis: California Unemployment Insurance Code, section 140.5"Β  So this makes it sound like they think I'm not working full time, but I am. So do I have grounds for an appeal to claim every other weekend for paid family leave? Or no. Thanks.
