SDI claim denied due to overseas doctor error - EDD appeal silence for 2 weeks. How long to hear back?

So my SDI claim got denied because my doctor overseas messed up on the paperwork. I called the EDD office two weeks ago and they told me to file an appeal and send in my baby's birth certificate as proof. It's been radio silence since then and I'm getting worried. Has anyone else dealt with this? How long does it usually take to hear back about an appeal? I'm starting to feel like I'm just shouting into the void here.

Connor Murphy

Ugh, I feel for you. I'm in the same boat with a denied claim. This whole system needs an overhaul.

Preach! πŸ™Œ It's like they're trying to make it as difficult as possible.

It's comforting to know I'm not alone, but also sad that so many of us are struggling with this.

An overhaul would be ideal, but let's share resources and tips to help each other out meanwhile.

Two weeks isn't that long in EDD time, unfortunately. When I filed my appeal last year, it took about 6 weeks to hear anything back. Hang in there!

6 weeks?! 😱 I can't wait that long. I have bills to pay!

Same boat here. The waiting game is brutal. Sending good vibes your way, OP!

Maybe try to reach out to some community groups for emergency financial assistance in the meantime.

Hey, I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Check out this video: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

$20 just to talk to someone? That's highway robbery! 🀬

Sounds sketchy. Has anyone else tried this?

I know it sounds crazy, but it actually worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

How does it work exactly? Do they just keep calling until they get through?

While it seems costly, think of it as an investment for your peace of mind.

Congrats on the new baby, btw! Don't let EDD stress you out too much. Focus on that little bundle of joy πŸ‘Άβ€οΈ

It's important to cherish these moments. The paperwork will eventually sort itself out.

Have you tried calling them again? Sometimes you gotta be persistent and keep bugging them until they give you an answer.

I've tried calling but I can never get through. It's so frustrating 😫

Pro tip: call right when they open. Like, set an alarm and everything. It's the only way I've ever gotten through.

You might also want to try calling multiple times a day at different intervals.

Just a heads up, with the new budget cuts, appeals are taking even longer to process. Might wanna look into other options while you wait.

Budget cuts are affecting so many services, it's really a shame.

Have you tried faxing your documents? I know it sounds archaic, but sometimes it's faster than mail or email.

Faxing? What year is it? πŸ˜‚ But seriously, I'll give it a shot. Thanks for the tip!

Can confirm. Fax is the way to go. EDD is stuck in the stone age πŸ¦•

Just adding my two cents about Claimyr. While their $20 fee might seem steep, it's a one-time cost that can save you countless hours of waiting on hold. They have a pretty good track record for connecting people, but it's wise to read reviews and consider it carefully. Remember, it's just one of several tools available to you, and you should weigh its convenience against your current financial situation.

Ugh, the EDD is such a nightmare to deal with. I've been waiting on my appeal for over a month now. It's like they enjoy making us suffer.

Here's what you need to do to get your appeal moving: 1. Document everything: Keep a log of all your calls, emails, and interactions with EDD. 2. Follow up regularly: Call or email every week to check on the status of your appeal. 3. Contact your local representative: Sometimes they can help expedite the process. 4. Be prepared: Have all your documents ready, including your baby's birth certificate, original claim info, and doctor's contact details. 5. Stay persistent: The squeaky wheel gets the grease. Don't let them forget about you. 6. Consider legal aid: If it's taking too long, there are organizations that offer free legal help for EDD issues. Remember, the system is overwhelmed, but you have rights. Don't give up!
