SDI appeal process after identity verification disqualification - need advice
I'm so frustrated with the EDD right now. I submitted all my identity verification documents in person at the SDI office, but I still got a disqualification letter. Now I have to appeal this decision and I have no idea what to do. Has anyone else gone through this? Any advice on how to handle the appeal process? I'm worried about how long this is going to take and if I'll ever get my benefits.

I know it's frustrating dealing with the EDD, especially when it feels like you're doing everything right but the system isn't cooperating. On that note, using Claimyr can be a real time-saver if you're desperate to get through to someone. It might feel strange to pay for something that should ideally be free, but the current state of the system sometimes necessitates such measures. However, it's worth remembering that while Claimyr might help get you on the phone faster, it doesn't expedite the overall appeal process. It's essential to follow all recommended steps for lodging an appeal, such as clearly documenting your case and seeking assistance from state representatives. Remember, you have a community here that's willing to support you through this. The road may be long, but persistence is key.

Unpopular opinion: Maybe we should all just be grateful that unemployment benefits exist at all? Some countries don't have any safety net.

•Bootlicker alert! 🚨 Just because it could be worse doesn't mean we shouldn't demand better.

•I get what you're saying, but we pay into this system. We deserve for it to work properly.

•Fair points. I'm just trying to find a silver lining in this mess. 😅

Ugh, I feel your pain. The EDD system is a total nightmare. I went through something similar last year. Here's what I did: 1. Write a detailed appeal letter explaining your situation 2. Include copies of ALL the documents you submitted originally 3. Send everything via certified mail so you have proof they received it 4. Follow up with phone calls (good luck getting through) 5. Be prepared to wait... it took me almost 3 months to get a resolution Hang in there, and don't give up!

Plot twist: What if we all show up at the EDD office with pitchforks and torches? Maybe then they'll get their act together! 🔥🍴

•Lol, I'm in! But knowing EDD, they'd probably make us fill out a form to schedule our riot 6-8 weeks in advance. 🙄

•Guys, let's not joke about this. The EDD workers are probably just as frustrated as we are. The system is the problem, not the people.

Pro tip: when you write your appeal letter, be super specific about dates and details. I won my appeal by providing a timeline of everything I did and every document I submitted. Don't assume they know anything - spell it all out!

•That's really helpful, thanks! Did you use any specific format for your timeline?

TechNinja
•I just did a simple bullet point list with dates. Like: • 5/1/21: Submitted initial claim • 5/15/21: Received request for additional docs • 5/20/21: Submitted docs in person at SDI office Etc. Keep it simple and clear!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds sketchy. Is this legit? Has anyone else tried it?

•$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is broken if we have to pay to get help.

•I know it sounds weird, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Sometimes you gotta spend money to make money, ya know?

•I've tried Claimyr, and it definitely saved me a lot of time. It was frustrating being on hold forever, so it was worth it for me. But I do understand the concern about having to pay for access to government services. Ideally, we shouldn't have to, but in a pinch, it was useful.

Anyone else feel like they need a PhD in bureaucracy just to navigate the EDD system? 🎓🤔

•Forget PhD, we need a time machine to go back to when government services actually worked! 🕰️

PSA: Always keep copies of EVERYTHING you send to EDD. I learned that lesson the hard way when they "lost" my documents and I had to start the whole process over. 🤦♂️

Yo, I heard theres a secret number you can call to get through to EDD faster. Anyone know if thats true or just an urban legend?

•I tried like 50 different "secret" numbers I found online. None of them worked. It's all 🐂💩

•There used to be some backdoor numbers, but EDD caught on and shut them down. Now we're all in the same sinking boat. ⛵

Serious question: Has anyone had success with the identity verification appeal process? What evidence did you provide that finally convinced them?

Quick question for those who've been through the appeal process: How long did it take to get a hearing date after you submitted your appeal?

Emma Johnson
•It took about 6 weeks for me to get a hearing date, and then another 2 weeks for the actual hearing.

I'm telling y'all, the real move is to just give up on EDD and start an OnlyFans. Probably make more money that way anyway. 💅

Dude, the EDD is such a joke. I swear they make it complicated on purpose to discourage people from claiming benefits. It's all a big scam if you ask me. 🤡

Hey OP, make sure you check your spam folder regularly. Sometimes important EDD emails end up there. Learned that one the hard way. 😑

have you tried contacting your local assemblymember or state senator? they can sometimes help speed things up with EDD. worth a shot!

•I hadn't thought of that. How do I find out who my representatives are?

•just google "[your city] state representatives" and it should come up. most of them have a form on their website for constituent services. good luck!

Have you considered hiring an unemployment lawyer? They can be expensive, but sometimes they're worth it if you're dealing with a complicated case.

•Lawyers are a rip-off. You can do everything they do yourself if you're willing to put in the time.

•Not always true. A good lawyer knows the system inside and out. They can spot issues you might miss and know how to navigate the appeals process.
