EDD disqualified me - identity verification denied. What to do when I reach an agent?

Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my unemployment claim. The EDD disqualified me saying they don't have enough info to establish my identity, address, SSN ownership, and verify my wages. I submitted my identity document but it got denied. Has anyone else dealt with this? What should I do when I finally get through to an EDD agent?

I found a way to solve EDD identity verification issues, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04XArcI2K4Q

Ugh, I've been there. It's so frustrating! 😤 Make sure you have ALL your documents ready when you call. Ask them specifically why your identity doc was denied and what else they need. Sometimes they want multiple forms of ID. Don't give up!

Thanks for the advice! Did you have to submit additional documents? How long did it take to get everything sorted out?

0 coins

Yeah, I had to send in my driver's license AND a utility bill. Took about 3 weeks total, but felt like forever 😩

3 weeks? You got lucky! I've been waiting for 2 months now. This system is a joke 🤡

Here's what you need to do: 1. Gather ALL possible identity documents (driver's license, passport, birth certificate, etc.) 2. Prepare recent pay stubs or W-2 forms 3. Have your Social Security card ready 4. Get a recent utility bill or bank statement for address verification 5. When you call, ask for a detailed explanation of why your document was denied 6. Request a list of acceptable alternative documents 7. Take detailed notes during the call 8. Ask about the appeals process if needed 9. Follow up with a secure message through your EDD account Stay persistent and don't let them brush you off. Good luck!

Wow, this is super helpful! Thank you so much for taking the time to write all this out. I'll definitely follow these steps.

Great advice! I'd add: make copies of EVERYTHING you send them. EDD has a habit of 'losing' documents 🙄

lol good luck getting through to an actual person. I've been trying for weeks and keep getting hung up on 🤬

Pro tip: I found a way to get through! There's this site called claimyr.com that has a calling tool. It dials the menu, stays on hold, and then connects you when a live agent picks up. Costs $20 but totally worth it. Check out this video: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

0 coins

I was skeptical too, but it worked for me! Saved me hours of frustration. Just sharing what helped me out 🤷‍♂️

$20 to talk to EDD? That's highway robbery! 😡

I get it, but think about how much time and stress it saves. For me, it was worth every penny.

Have you checked your spam folder? Sometimes important EDD emails end up there. Also, make sure your contact info is up to date in the system.

edd is a complete disaster rn. saw on twitter theyre dealing with massive fraud issues. might be why theyre being extra strict w/ id verification

0 coins

Yeah, I heard about that too. Apparently, they lost billions to fraud last year. Guess we're all paying the price now 😒

Anyone else think its weird that the government cant verify our identity when they literally issue our IDs and take our taxes every year? 🤔 Make it make sense!

0 coins

Preach! 🙌 The right hand doesn't know what the left is doing. Classic bureaucracy at its finest.

Its almost like they WANT us to fail. keeps them from having to pay out benefits 🐍

Hang in there, OP! I know it feels hopeless, but keep pushing. I finally got my issue resolved after 2 months of back and forth. Don't let them wear you down!

0 coins

Thanks for the encouragement! It's good to hear success stories. Did you do anything specific that finally got them to approve you?

0 coins

Honestly, I think I just wore them down lol. But seriously, I sent in every possible document I could think of and called every other day. Eventually, I got a sympathetic agent who went the extra mile.

I went through the exact same thing last month! Here's what worked for me: when you finally get through to an agent, ask them to do a "document review" over the phone while you're on the call. They can see your submissions in real-time and tell you exactly what's missing or why it was rejected. In my case, the photo quality of my driver's license was too blurry. I had to take a super clear photo with good lighting and resubmit. Also, make sure your name on ALL documents matches EXACTLY how it appears in their system - even middle initials matter! The whole process took about 6 weeks total, but once I got that phone review, everything moved much faster. You've got this! 💪

This is incredibly helpful! I never thought about asking for a real-time document review. That's such a smart approach. I'm definitely going to try this when I get through to someone. The tip about exact name matching is gold too - I bet that trips up a lot of people. Thanks for sharing your experience and giving me hope that this can actually get resolved! 🙏

I'm dealing with something similar right now - it's such a nightmare! One thing that helped me was calling the EDD Technical Support line (1-833-978-2511) instead of the regular claims line. They're specifically trained to help with online account issues and identity verification problems. The wait times are usually shorter too. When you get through, explain that your identity documents were rejected and ask them to walk you through exactly what format and quality they need. They can also check if there are any specific flags on your account that might be causing the rejections. Don't give up - I know people who've gotten through this mess! 🤞

Oh wow, I had no idea there was a separate technical support line! That's amazing - thank you for sharing that number. I've been calling the regular line and getting nowhere. This could be a game changer! Do you know what their hours are? And did they actually help resolve your identity verification issue or are you still waiting? Really appreciate you taking the time to share this info! 🙌

I just went through this same nightmare and finally got it resolved! Here's what I learned: when your identity verification gets denied, there's usually a specific reason buried in their system that the agents can see but don't always explain clearly. Ask them to pull up the "rejection codes" or "verification notes" on your account - this will tell you exactly what went wrong. In my case, they said my address didn't match, but it turned out they had an old address from a previous job in their system. Once we updated that, everything went through smoothly. Also, if you submitted documents through the online portal, try uploading them again but save them as PDFs instead of photos - their system seems to process PDFs better. The whole thing took me about 5 weeks but those two changes made all the difference. Stay strong, you'll get through this! 💪

This is exactly the kind of detailed advice I was hoping to find! The tip about asking for specific rejection codes is brilliant - I never would have thought to ask for that level of detail. And the PDF vs photo upload tip could be a total game changer. I've been uploading photos this whole time, so I'm definitely going to try converting them to PDFs and resubmitting. The address mismatch issue you mentioned is something I should probably check too since I've moved a couple times in the past few years. Thank you so much for sharing your experience and giving such actionable steps! It really helps to know that people are getting through this eventually. 🙏

Just went through this exact situation! Here's what finally worked for me: when you get an agent on the phone, ask them to do a "three-way verification call" with ID.me if your account is linked to that service. This helped clear up some database mismatches that were causing my rejections. Also, make sure to ask about their "Tier 2" specialist team - regular agents can only see basic info, but Tier 2 can access the full verification system and override certain blocks. One more tip: if you've had ANY name changes (marriage, legal name change, etc.), bring documentation for that too, even if it seems unrelated. Their system flags ANY discrepancies. It took me 7 weeks total but I finally got approved last Tuesday! Don't give up - the squeaky wheel gets the grease with EDD! 🎯

This is such valuable information! I had no idea about the three-way verification call with ID.me or the Tier 2 specialist team. That could explain why I keep getting different answers from different agents - they probably don't all have access to the same level of information. The tip about name changes is really smart too, even though mine hasn't changed I can see how that would trip up their system. 7 weeks sounds like a long time but honestly just knowing there's a light at the end of the tunnel helps so much. Thanks for breaking down these specific steps and congratulations on finally getting approved! 🙌

I'm going through this exact same thing right now and it's beyond frustrating! 😩 Reading all these responses gives me some hope though. I've been stuck in identity verification hell for about 3 weeks now. They keep saying my documents don't match their records but won't tell me specifically what's wrong. I'm definitely going to try that technical support line someone mentioned (1-833-978-2511) and ask for those specific rejection codes. Has anyone had luck with uploading documents multiple times? Like if it gets rejected once, is it worth trying again with better photo quality or different file formats? Also wondering if it helps to submit MORE documents than they ask for, just to cover all bases? This whole system feels like it's designed to frustrate people into giving up. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences - it really helps to know I'm not alone in this mess! 🤞

Hey Zara! I feel your pain - I'm about 2 weeks into this nightmare myself. From what I've been reading here, it definitely seems worth trying to reupload with better quality/different formats. I'm planning to convert all my photos to PDFs like someone suggested above. And yes, I think submitting extra documents might help - better to give them too much info than not enough, right? The fact that they won't tell you specifically what's wrong is so infuriating! I'm going to try that technical support line too and ask for those rejection codes. We shouldn't have to become detectives just to get our own benefits! Hang in there - sounds like persistence is key with these people. Let me know if the tech support line works for you! 🤞

I'm dealing with the exact same identity verification nightmare right now! 😤 Been stuck for about a month and it's driving me crazy. After reading through all these helpful responses, I'm going to try calling that technical support line (1-833-978-2511) that @NeonNebula mentioned - had no idea that existed! Also definitely going to ask for those specific rejection codes that @JaylinCharles talked about, and try converting my photos to PDFs before resubmitting. The tip about asking for a Tier 2 specialist sounds really promising too. It's so frustrating that we have to become experts in their broken system just to get our own benefits, but at least this thread gives me some concrete steps to try. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences - it really helps to know there's hope and that people are actually getting through this eventually! Will report back if any of these strategies work for me 🤞
