EDD Identity Docs Submitted but Showing Disqualification - DE 2517-40 Form Help?
I submitted my identity documents to EDD but now it's showing disqualification. I got this form DE 2517-40 but I have no idea what it means. Has anyone dealt with this before? What should I do next?

I found a way to solve EDD identity verification disqualification, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2dF3tGXrO6Q

Ugh, I've been there. The DE 2517-40 is usually sent when theres an issue with your identity verification. Did you get any other letters explaining why you were disqualified?

•No, I didn't get any other letters. Just this form and then saw the disqualification on my account. I'm so confused 😕

•That sucks. You should definitely call EDD asap. They might need additional docs or there could be a mistake on their end.

I had a similar issue last year. Here's what I did to resolve it: 1. Double-check all the documents you submitted. Make sure they're clear and match the requirements exactly. 2. Log into your UI Online account and see if there are any messages or requests for additional information. 3. If you can't find any specific reason for the disqualification, you'll need to appeal. 4. To appeal, you have to fill out the DE 1000M form. You can find it on the EDD website. 5. In your appeal, explain that you submitted all required documents and haven't received a clear reason for disqualification. 6. While waiting for the appeal, keep certifying for benefits if you can. 7. Try to contact EDD for clarification. It's hard to get through, but keep trying. Hope this helps! The process can be frustrating, but don't give up.

•Thank you so much for this detailed response! I'll definitely follow these steps. Do you remember how long your appeal process took?

•My appeal took about 6 weeks, but I've heard it can vary. Just keep following up and don't miss any deadlines they give you!

man the EDD is such a mess rn. feels like they're just disqualifying people left and right without explanation. hang in there OP!

Have you checked if your identity documents were actually received? Sometimes they say they got them but they actually didn't. Happened to me and I had to resubmit everything.

•How do I check if they were received? I don't see anything in my online account about it.

•You'll have to call them unfortunately. There's no way to check online as far as I know. The system is so backwards 🤦♂️

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds sketchy. Is it legit? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

•I was skeptical too, but it actually worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth it IMO if you're desperate to talk to someone.

•How long did it take for them to get someone on the line?

•It took about 2 hours, but I didn't have to sit there listening to hold music. They called me when an agent picked up.

Quick question - did you upload your docs or mail them in? I've heard mailing can cause more issues.

•I uploaded them through the UI Online portal. Thought that would be faster but guess not 😞

Protip: take screenshots of EVERYTHING you submit to EDD. It's saved my butt more than once when they claimed they never got something.

Hey Jade! I went through something similar a few months ago. The DE 2517-40 form is basically EDD's way of saying there's an issue with your identity verification, but they're terrible at explaining what exactly went wrong. A few things to check: - Make sure your documents are high quality scans/photos (not blurry) - Verify that all your personal info matches exactly across all documents - Check that your documents aren't expired The appeals process that Olivia mentioned is definitely your best bet. I'd also recommend checking if there are any local EDD offices near you where you can go in person - sometimes that's faster than the phone maze. Don't let this discourage you too much. The system is broken but you can get through it with persistence. Keep us updated on how it goes!
