EDD Forms DE 2517 & 4365DI in email - How to respond?
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with some forms from the EDD. I got a DE 2517 and a 4365DI in my email, but I'm not sure how to respond to them. The DE 2517 is about eligibility for disability benefits, and the 4365DI is asking for more info. Problem is, I can only see them in my email and don't know how to fill them out. Anyone dealt with this before? What should I do when I call them?

Ugh, the EDD and their endless forms! 🙄 I've been there, buddy. Here's what you need to do: 1. Write down all your questions about both forms 2. Gather any related documents you have 3. When you call, explain you got these forms by email and can't access them physically 4. Ask how to respond without having the actual forms 5. Get clear instructions on next steps Good luck! The EDD can be a real pain, but stay persistent!

•This is solid advice! I'd add: take notes during the call. Those EDD folks sometimes give conflicting info 🤦♂️

•Thanks for the tips! I'll definitely write everything down. Do you know if they can send me physical copies of the forms?

•They should be able to mail you physical copies if you ask. Just be prepared to wait... EDD mail is slower than a snail race sometimes 🐌

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds sketchy. Is it legit? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

•I was skeptical too, but it's legit. Saved me hours of hold time. Worth it if you're desperate to talk to someone.

•How long did it take for them to connect you?

•It took about 45 minutes, but I didn't have to sit there listening to hold music. They called me when an agent was on the line.

Have you tried logging into your EDD account online? Sometimes they have digital versions of the forms you can fill out there. Might be worth checking!

•I didn't even think of that! I'll give it a shot, thanks!

Protip: If you can't get through on the main line, try calling right when they open or just before they close. Sometimes you can catch them with shorter wait times. Also, Wednesdays tend to be less busy in my experience.

Hey OP, just a heads up - make sure you respond to these forms ASAP. I once missed a deadline and it was a HUGE headache to sort out. Don't be like me, stay on top of it!

Oh wow, this is so timely! I just went through something similar last month. For the DE 2517 form, you can actually download a fillable PDF version from the EDD website if you search for it directly. As for the 4365DI, that one's trickier - I had to call and ask them to walk me through it over the phone. Pro tip: when you call, have your Social Security number and case number ready. They'll ask for it right away. Also, don't hang up if they put you on hold again during the call - I made that mistake and had to start all over! The whole process is frustrating but you got this! 💪

Thanks for sharing your experience @Zainab Ali! That's super helpful. I've been dealing with EDD forms too and it's such a maze. Quick question - when you downloaded the DE 2517 PDF from their website, did you have to create an account or log in? I'm wondering if I can access it without going through all the online portal setup. Also, did they email you a confirmation after you submitted everything? I'm always paranoid about whether they actually received my stuff! 😅

•@Dmitri Volkov No account needed for the PDF download! Just go to edd.ca.gov and search DE "2517 -" it should pop right up. As for confirmation, they don t'always send email confirmations which is super annoying 😤 I usually call back a few days later to confirm they got everything. Better safe than sorry with EDD!

Just wanted to add my two cents here! I dealt with these exact same forms a few months ago and it was such a headache. What worked for me was calling the EDD disability line first thing in the morning (like 8:00 AM sharp) and explaining that I received the forms via email but couldn't fill them out properly. The rep was actually pretty helpful and walked me through what info they needed over the phone. She also sent me physical copies in the mail, which took about a week to arrive. In the meantime, she noted in my file that I had called and was working on getting the forms completed, so I didn't get penalized for any delays. One thing I learned - definitely ask for a reference number for your call! That way if you need to call back, you can reference that conversation. The whole process is unnecessarily complicated but don't give up! You'll get through this 🙏

•This is exactly what I needed to hear! @Sebastian Scott thanks for the detailed breakdown. I m'definitely going to try calling at 8 AM sharp and ask for that reference number - that s'such a smart tip I wouldn t'have thought of. It s'reassuring to know they can note in your file that you re'working on it. Did you end up having to submit both the phone info AND the physical forms when they arrived, or just one or the other?

Hey Logan! I just went through this exact same nightmare a few weeks ago. Here's what saved me: First, try printing the forms directly from your email - sometimes they're actually fillable PDFs that just look weird on screen. If that doesn't work, call EDD and tell them you need the forms in a different format. When I called, I got transferred to someone in the disability department who was super helpful. She let me provide all the info over the phone and then sent me confirmation forms to sign and mail back. The whole call took about 30 minutes but it beat trying to figure out those email forms! Also, keep screenshots of those email forms in case they ask for proof that you received them. The EDD loves their paper trails. Don't stress too much - as long as you respond within their deadline (usually 10-15 days), you should be fine. Good luck! 🤞

•@Ruby Knight This is super helpful! I didn t'even think to try printing them directly from email - sometimes the simplest solutions are right in front of you 🤦♀️ The screenshot tip is brilliant too. I ve'learned the hard way that EDD always wants proof of everything. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Logan, I feel your pain! I just dealt with this exact situation last month and it was so confusing at first. Here's what worked for me: The DE 2517 form can usually be found as a fillable PDF on the EDD website - just search "DE 2517 form" and it should come up. For the 4365DI, I had to call and have them walk me through it since that one's more specific to your case. When you call, definitely mention that you received these forms via email but can't properly fill them out. Ask them to either: 1. Send you physical copies in the mail 2. Let you provide the info over the phone 3. Direct you to online versions you can actually complete Also, write down the date/time you call and get a reference number if possible. EDD loves their documentation! One more tip - if you're having trouble getting through on the phone, try calling right at 8 AM when they open. The wait times are usually shorter then. You've got this! The process is frustrating but totally doable once you know the right steps 💪

•@Yuki Ito This is exactly the kind of step-by-step help I was looking for! I didn t'realize the DE 2517 might be available as a fillable PDF on their website - definitely going to check that out first. The reference number tip keeps coming up in these comments so I ll'make sure to ask for that when I call. Really appreciate you taking the time to break it down so clearly! 🙏

I've been lurking on this thread because I'm dealing with similar EDD form issues! Reading through everyone's experiences has been super helpful. Just wanted to add that when I called EDD yesterday about my forms, the rep told me they've been having technical issues with their email system lately - apparently a lot of people are getting forms that aren't displaying properly. She said the best thing to do is call and let them know you received forms via email but can't access them properly. They can either read you the questions over the phone or send physical copies. Just make sure to mention the specific form numbers (DE 2517 and 4365DI in your case) so they can pull up the right ones. Also, if you do end up waiting on hold, don't give up! I was on hold for almost 2 hours but the rep was really helpful once I got through. Sometimes persistence really pays off with EDD. Hope this helps and good luck getting it sorted out! 🤞

•Thanks for sharing that info about the email system issues! That actually explains a lot - I was wondering if it was just me having trouble with the forms displaying properly. It's frustrating that they're having technical problems but at least now I know it's not something I'm doing wrong. Definitely going to call and mention the specific form numbers like you suggested. Two hours on hold sounds brutal but worth it if you get the help you need! 😅

This is such a timely post! I'm actually going through the same thing right now with my disability claim. Got those exact same forms (DE 2517 and 4365DI) in my email last week and was totally stumped on how to handle them. After reading through all these comments, I'm definitely going to try calling at 8 AM sharp tomorrow and ask for a reference number. The tip about EDD having email system issues makes so much sense - I thought I was going crazy trying to figure out why the forms looked so weird! @Logan Greenburg have you had any luck getting through to them yet? I'm curious to hear how it goes if you try any of these suggestions. This community is awesome for sharing real experiences instead of just the official runaround we usually get! Thanks everyone for all the practical advice - feeling way less stressed about this whole process now 🙏
