EDD Disability claim disqualified without notice - appeal submitted 2 weeks ago, no response. What to do?

I'm so frustrated with EDD disability. My claim got disqualified but I never received any notice about it. I submitted an appeal over 2 weeks ago and still haven't heard anything back. My doctor even sent in an updated form confirming my situation. Has anyone else dealt with this? What should I do next? I really need to get this resolved ASAP.

I found a way to solve EDD disability claim disqualification issues, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2BjH9vOP_k

Ugh, I feel your pain. EDD is a nightmare to deal with. Have you tried calling them directly? Sometimes that's the only way to get answers.

I've been trying to call but can never get through. It's so frustrating!

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 mins on hold that way.

30 mins? You got lucky! I was on hold for 3 hours last week 😭

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work?

Yeah, it actually does! I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration.

$20 seems steep just to make a phone call...

I thought so too, but considering how much time and stress it saved me, it was totally worth it.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Keep copies of all forms you've submitted and any correspondence. 2. Call EDD and ask for a specific reason for the disqualification. Make sure they have your updated medical info. 3. If you can't get through on the phone, try reaching out via their online portal or send a written request for information. 4. Consider contacting your local state representative's office. They often have liaisons who can help with EDD issues. 5. If all else fails, you might want to consult with an employment lawyer who specializes in EDD cases. Don't give up! The system is frustrating but keep pushing. Good luck!

Thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely try reaching out to my state rep if I can't get through to EDD soon.

This is solid advice. I'd add: keep a log of all your calls and attempts to contact them. It can help if you need to escalate the issue later.

3 months?! That's insane. Did you do anything special to finally get it resolved?

Honestly, just persistance. Called every week, sent emails, the whole 9 yards. Eventually got through to someone who actually helped.

This is why we need serious reform in our social services. The system is broken and people who need help are suffering. 😤

Quick question - did you make sure to send your appeal to the right address? There's different ones for UI and disability claims.

Oh geez, I didn't even think about that. I'll double check. Thanks for the tip!
