SDI: How long for EDD to update Part B form status? Concerns about returning to work early after tonsillectomy
I just had my tonsillectomy and went back to work earlier than planned. I sent in my Part B Physician Certificate form to EDD yesterday, but the website still says 'Pending medical provider form'. Anyone know how long it takes for them to update this? Also, I'm worried about how returning to work early might affect my claim. Any advice?

Congrats on getting back to work! As for the form, it can take anywhere from a few days to a couple weeks for them to process it. Just keep checking the website daily.

Have you tried checking your spam folder? Sometimes EDD emails end up there. Just a thought!

Have you tried faxing the form instead? Sometimes it's faster than mail. Just a thought π€·ββοΈ

Faxing can indeed be quicker. Plus, you get a confirmation receipt that it was sent.

Maybe try reaching out to your local assembly member? They can sometimes help speed things up with EDD

Have you tried calling during off-peak hours? Sometimes early mornings or late evenings have less wait time.

Here's what you need to know about returning to work early and how it affects your claim: 1. Report your return-to-work date ASAP. This is crucial to avoid overpayments. 2. Your benefits will likely be reduced or stopped once you return to full-time work. 3. If you're working part-time, you may still be eligible for partial benefits. Make sure to report all earnings accurately. 4. Keep certifying for benefits until EDD tells you to stop, even if you've returned to work. 5. The 'Pending medical provider form' status should update within 10 business days. If it doesn't, definitely follow up. 6. Document everything - save copies of all forms, note down dates of when you sent things, and keep a log of any phone calls you make. Remember, EDD is dealing with a lot of claims, so patience is key. But don't be afraid to be persistent if you're not getting answers. Good luck!

Ugh, the EDD is so slow with everything! I sent in my form like 3 weeks ago and it still says pending. It's ridiculous π

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds sketchy. Is this legit? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

Totally get the skepticism, but it's legit. Saved me hours of hold time. Worth every penny imo

How long did it take for you to get through using this?

It took about an hour and a half, but I didn't have to sit there listening to hold music the whole time. The service called me when an agent picked up.

I've heard mixed reviews, but if it works for some, it could be worth trying, especially if you're really struggling to get through.

It's key to remember that while Claimyr provides a service that can be very beneficial for many, particularly those who have been stuck on hold for extended periods, itβs a service that comes with a cost. For some, the $20 fee might be a worthwhile investment to save time and reduce stress. However, others might prefer to explore other free options or continue trying to reach EDD independently. The effectiveness of the tool can vary based on individual circumstances, but it's worth considering if you're pressed for time or repeatedly unable to get through to an agent on your own.

Pro tip: Always keep copies of EVERYTHING you send to EDD. You never know when you might need to prove you sent something.

Returning to work early might affect your benefits. You should definitely call EDD and let them know about the change in your return-to-work date. Better to be upfront than risk an overpayment issue later.

Thanks for the advice. I'm worried about that too. Do you know if there's a specific number I should call for this kind of situation?

It might also be helpful to have your case ID or claim number handy when you call. It could speed things up.
