EDD not paying after disability extension - no updates or letters. What to do?

My disability was extended by my doctor, but I haven't received any payments since then. I haven't gotten any letters or notices about my payment status either. Has anyone else dealt with this? What should I do when I call EDD to check on this?

I found a way to solve disability payment delays, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWeuYthq7Qg

Ugh, classic EDD nonsense. I've been there before. Make sure you have all your paperwork ready when you call - extension docs, payment history, everything. Be prepared to explain your situation clearly and don't let them brush you off. Good luck!

This 👆 Having your docs ready is key. I learned that the hard way after wasting an hour on hold only to be told to call back with more info. 🤦‍♂️

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. How does it actually work? Is it legit?

It's totally legit! You just go to their website, choose the EDD line you need, pay, and they start calling. When they get a real person, your phone rings. Saved me hours of hold time.

20 bucks tho? Idk man, seems steep just to make a phone call 🤔

I get it, but think about how much time you waste on hold. For me, it was worth it to not lose a whole day waiting around.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Gather all your documents: disability extension paperwork, payment history, any correspondence from EDD. 2. Call EDD first thing in the morning when they open. The lines are usually less busy then. 3. Clearly explain that your disability was extended but payments haven't resumed. 4. Ask about the status of your claim and if there's any additional information they need. 5. Get the name and ID of the representative you speak with. 6. Request a follow-up email or letter confirming what was discussed. 7. If they can't resolve it immediately, ask for a specific timeframe for resolution. 8. Follow up in writing (email or mail) to create a paper trail. Remember, stay calm and persistent. Sometimes you might need to call multiple times to get it sorted. Good luck!

This is solid advice right here 💯 Especially the part about getting everything in writing. EDD can be a real pain to deal with

Oof, I feel for you. I was in the same boat last year. It took me like 3 months to get my payments sorted after my extension. The system is so broken 😤

3 months?! That's insane. How did you manage financially during that time?

It was rough ngl. Had to borrow money from family and max out my credit cards. EDD eventually paid me back but the stress was unreal

Pro tip: if you can't get through on the main line, try calling one of the other departments and ask to be transferred. Sometimes works like a charm 😉

Ooh sneaky. I like it. Which department usually works best for this?

I've had luck with the employer line or the tax department. Just be super polite and they're usually happy to transfer you

anyone else feel like the whole disability system needs a major overhaul? its ridiculous that we have to jump through so many hoops just to get the benefits we're entitled to

Preach! 🙌 The amount of stress they put on people who are already dealing with health issues is just cruel
