How to check EDD SDI payment status when nothing showing in account?
I filed my disability claim about 3 weeks ago and got the approval letter in the mail last week, but when I log into my SDI Online account there's absolutely nothing showing under payment history. The claim status just says 'active' but no payment information at all. My doctor submitted all paperwork on time and everything seemed to go smoothly, but I'm confused about why no payment details are showing up. I'm starting to get worried since my bills are piling up. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a separate section where I need to look for payment info? Or do I need to call EDD directly to find out what's happening with my payments?

same thing happened to me in january!! my status said active for like 10 days with no payment info and i was freaking out. turned out they were processing my backpay from when i first got sick. check your mail carefully bc they might send you a paper check for the first payment instead of direct deposit. after that first payment showed up everything started updating online correctly

•Thanks for sharing your experience! I'll keep a close eye on my mail. Did you have to do anything special to trigger that first payment, or did it just happen automatically after your claim showed 'active'?

My disability claim did the same thing! It showed active for almost 2 weeks with no payment info. I think the system updates in batches or something because suddenly one day all the payment info appeared at once. If your claim is marked active, you're probably fine, just waiting for the next system update.

•This is NOT correct information. EDD's system updates DAILY not in batches. If your claim shows active but no payments for more than 3 business days, something is holding up your claim and you need to contact them ASAP. Don't just wait around hoping for updates!

I work with disability claims professionally, and here's what might be happening: 1. There's often a gap between claim approval and first payment processing 2. The first payment sometimes takes 7-10 business days to appear in the system after approval 3. Your payment might be pending address verification (common security step) 4. Sometimes there's an initial review that happens after approval but before payment If it's been more than 10 business days since your approval letter, you should definitely contact EDD. The disability phone lines are notoriously busy, so prepare to spend some time on hold.

•Thank you for this detailed explanation! It's been exactly 8 business days since I got the approval letter, so maybe I'm still within the normal timeframe. Should I just keep checking my SDI Online account daily, or is there another way to track payment status?

After i got SUPER frustrated trying to get thru to EDD about my disability payment status (kept getting disconnected after waiting on hold FOR HOURS), I found this service called Claimyr that got me through to an actual EDD agent in like 20 minutes! They basically call EDD for you and when they get through, they connect you. It was seriously worth it because the agent was able to tell me exactly what was going on with my payments and fixed an issue that was holding things up. You can see how it works at claimyr.com - they have a video demo too: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ?si=1hcSq3KFtCr4oAmd

•That sounds really helpful, especially if I end up needing to call them. I'll wait a couple more days based on the advice above, but if nothing changes, I might try this service. Did they explain what was holding up your payment when you finally got through?

Did u set up direct deposit??? if not they mail u a debit card and that takes foreverrrrr. my first payment took almost 3 weeks after approval. the EDD website is always out of date too so dont trust it lol

•Yes, I did set up direct deposit right when I filed my claim. I'm hoping that will make things faster once the payment actually processes. It's so frustrating how outdated their system seems to be!

One other thing to check - log into your account and make sure you don't have any pending certifications. Sometimes even with an approved claim, you need to complete a continued certification to trigger payments. Look under "Forms" or "Certifications" sections. This is particularly important if your disability is expected to last more than the initial period approved.

•I just double-checked and don't see any pending certifications. My disability is only expected to last 6 weeks total, and I'm now in week 3. I do see that my claim is established through the expected end date, so at least that part seems correct.

The EXACT thing happened to me last month, and it turned out to be because my employer hadn't submitted their portion of the information quickly enough. Even though my claim was approved, they were waiting on wages verification or something before releasing payment. After I called my HR department and had them contact EDD, my payment appeared two days later. Try calling your employer's HR/benefits department to see if they need to do anything.

•That's a great suggestion! I hadn't even considered that my employer might be the holdup. I'll reach out to HR tomorrow morning and ask if they need to submit anything else. Thank you!

In 2025, EDD is STILL using the same broken systems they've had for decades! When will they fix this garbage? I had to call 46 TIMES before getting through to anyone about my disability payments last month. They kept saying "high call volume" like that's an excuse for a dysfunctional government agency. The payment tracker on the website is useless - shows nothing half the time and wrong information the other half.

•preach!! i had to borrow money from my parents because my disability payments were so delayed. and then when i finally got paid they didn't even include all my backpay! had to call and argue with them for another week

Update on my situation - I called EDD this morning using the Claimyr service I mentioned before, and it turns out there was a wage verification issue holding up my payments. The rep manually overrode something in their system, and my payment history immediately appeared in my online account! Just wanted to share the update since it might help others in the same situation.

•Thank you for the update! I contacted my HR department this morning based on another suggestion here, and they said everything is submitted on their end. I might try calling EDD directly tomorrow if nothing changes. Did you just ask the rep directly what was holding up payment processing?

Are you sure you're looking in the right place on the website? Sometimes the payment history is hidden under a tab that's not obvious. Try clicking on "Claim History" and then look for a section called "Payment Details" or something similar. The EDD website is sooo confusing!

•I've clicked through every tab and option I can find. There's a Payment History section, but it just says "No payments have been issued for this claim." I checked Claim History too, and it shows my claim is active but doesn't have any payment details.

anyone else notice how SDI payments are being processed slower this year than last? when i was on disability in 2024 my payments came like clockwork every two weeks. my wife is on disability now and we're seeing all kinds of delays. wonder if they cut staff or something

Nina Fitzgerald
•They absolutely DID cut staff! There was a budget reduction in late 2024 that resulted in losing about 15% of EDD staff and now everyone's suffering. Classic government move - cut services people depend on while wasting money elsewhere. It's infuriating.

I'm dealing with the same exact issue right now! Filed my claim 2.5 weeks ago, got approved, but my SDI Online account shows absolutely nothing under payment history. It's so stressful when you're already dealing with a disability and then have to worry about whether you'll actually get paid. Reading through all these responses is actually really helpful though - sounds like there could be several different causes. I'm going to try checking with my HR department first since that seems like a quick thing to rule out, and if that doesn't work I'll probably try calling EDD directly. It's crazy that in 2025 we still have to jump through so many hoops just to find out basic information about our own claims!

•I'm so glad I found this thread too! It's reassuring to know we're not alone in this frustrating situation. The HR department angle seems like a really smart first step - I hadn't thought of that either. If you do end up calling EDD, maybe try that Claimyr service that @Kiara mentioned earlier? Several people here seem to have had success with it. Keep us posted on what you find out - your experience might help others who are going through the same thing!

I'm going through this exact same situation right now! Filed my SDI claim about 2 weeks ago, got the approval letter, but my online account shows zero payment information. It's really frustrating because you're already stressed about being out of work due to disability, and then you have to worry about whether the payments will actually come through. Reading through everyone's experiences here has been super helpful though. It sounds like there are multiple potential causes - from wage verification issues to employer paperwork delays to just general system slowness. I'm definitely going to try contacting my HR department first since that seems like a quick win, and if that doesn't resolve it I'll probably bite the bullet and try to get through to EDD directly. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences - it really helps to know we're not alone in dealing with this bureaucratic nightmare!

•I'm in exactly the same boat! Just got my approval letter yesterday but nothing showing up online yet. It's such a relief to read all these experiences and realize this seems to be pretty normal. The waiting is definitely the worst part when you're already dealing with health issues and financial stress. I'm going to follow the advice here and check with HR first, then wait a few more business days before trying to contact EDD directly. @Jason's timeline of 7-10 business days after approval seems reasonable. Thanks for sharing your story - knowing others are going through the same thing really helps with the anxiety!

I had this EXACT same problem about 6 months ago! My claim showed active for almost 2 weeks with absolutely nothing in the payment section. Turns out there was a small discrepancy in my Social Security number between what my employer submitted and what was on file with EDD (like a typo or something). Once they corrected it, all my backpay appeared within 48 hours. The frustrating part is that nobody told me there was an issue - I only found out when I finally got through to an agent. I'd suggest calling and specifically asking if there are any "data verification holds" or "identity verification issues" on your claim. Sometimes these technical glitches happen behind the scenes and the online system doesn't show you there's a problem. Don't just wait it out if it's been more than 10 business days since approval!

•That's a really helpful insight about the data verification issues! I never would have thought to ask specifically about those types of holds. It makes sense that there could be technical glitches happening behind the scenes that don't show up in the online portal. I'm at about 8 business days since my approval letter now, so I think I'll follow the advice here to wait until I hit the 10-day mark, and then when I do call I'll definitely ask about data verification holds and identity verification issues specifically. Thanks for sharing what worked for you - it's so valuable to know the exact questions to ask when you finally get through to an agent!

I'm going through this exact same situation right now too! Filed my claim about 10 days ago, got approved, but my SDI Online account is completely blank under payment history. It's such a stressful situation when you're already dealing with health issues and now have to worry about whether the money will actually come through. This thread has been incredibly helpful though - I had no idea there were so many potential causes like wage verification issues, employer paperwork delays, or data verification holds. I'm definitely going to try calling my HR department first thing Monday morning to make sure they've submitted everything on their end. If that doesn't resolve it, I'll probably try the Claimyr service that several people mentioned since spending hours on hold with EDD sounds like a nightmare. It's really reassuring to know this seems to be a common issue and not necessarily a sign that something is seriously wrong with our claims. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences!

•I'm dealing with this too and it's so frustrating! Just wanted to add that when you do call HR, ask them specifically if they've submitted the "DE 2501" form - that's the wage and employment verification form that EDD needs from employers. My HR department thought they had submitted everything, but it turned out they missed that specific form. Once they faxed it over, my payments started processing within 3 days. Also, if you end up calling EDD directly, the best time I've found to get through is right when they open at 8am - the wait times are usually shorter then. Hang in there, it sounds like most people eventually get their payments sorted out!

I'm experiencing the exact same issue! Filed my disability claim 2.5 weeks ago, received my approval letter last week, but my SDI Online account shows absolutely nothing under payment history - just "No payments have been issued for this claim." It's so stressful being out of work due to my injury and then having to worry about whether I'll actually receive the benefits I was approved for. This thread has been incredibly helpful though! Based on everyone's advice, I'm going to start by contacting my HR department tomorrow to verify they've submitted the DE 2501 form and all required paperwork. If that doesn't resolve it within a few days, I'll try calling EDD directly and specifically ask about data verification holds or wage verification issues. It's really reassuring to know this delay seems pretty common and usually gets resolved eventually. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences - knowing we're not alone in this bureaucratic mess definitely helps with the anxiety!

•I'm going through this exact same nightmare right now! Filed my claim about 3 weeks ago, got approved, but still nothing showing in my payment history. It's such a relief to find this thread and realize this is actually pretty common. The stress of being out of work with a disability and then not knowing if you'll get paid is just awful. I'm definitely going to follow the advice here - calling HR first to check on that DE 2501 form, then if needed trying to get through to EDD directly. Has anyone had luck calling EDD at different times of day? I've heard early morning might be better but wanted to see if anyone has other tips for actually getting through to a human. Thanks for sharing your story - it really helps to know others are dealing with the same frustrating situation!
