EDD SDI payment shows as 'paid' online but not on my card - rent due!
I'm totally confused about my disability payments! My claim was approved after the 7-day waiting period (March 3-9, 2025), and I got my first payment for just one day (March 10) which showed up on my EDD debit card almost immediately. The SDI Online portal now shows I've been 'paid' for the next certification period, but it's been 3 days and nothing has hit my debit card! Has anyone experienced this delay between when it shows 'paid' online versus when it actually loads to your card? My landlord is already sending me rent reminders and I'm starting to panic. Do weekend days count in the processing time? Do I need to call EDD about this or just keep waiting?

chill out this happens all the time. system says paid but takes 2-3 business days to hit the card. weekends dont count as business days so if it showed paid on friday you might not see it till tuesday or wednesday

•Thank you! That makes me feel a little better. It actually showed as paid yesterday (Monday) so hopefully it'll be there by Thursday at the latest. My landlord isn't the most understanding person 😓

When the EDD SDI portal shows 'paid,' it typically takes 24-48 business hours to process to your Bank of America EDD debit card. If you see 'paid' status on Monday, the funds should appear by Wednesday. However, if there are banking holidays or system delays, it might take an extra day. I've been on disability three times, and while the first payment always came quickly, subsequent payments had a more predictable rhythm to them. Don't worry yet!

•That's really helpful, thank you! I was getting worried because my first payment came so quickly, like same-day. Good to know subsequent ones might follow a different pattern. I'll try to be patient until tomorrow.

NOBODY MENTIONS that EDD sometimes has random "GLITCHES" in their system!!! My disability showed as PAID for 4 days before it actually hit my card, and when I called they said there was a "processing delay" but wouldn't explain more. The whole system is designed to make us WAIT and STRESS!!!! If your rent is due, you might be in trouble because these delays are REAL and happen OFTEN.

If you're worried about the delay and need to speak with an EDD representative about your disability payment, I'd recommend using Claimyr. I was in a similar situation last month where my payment was stuck in 'paid' status for days. I tried calling EDD directly but couldn't get through after multiple attempts. Claimyr connected me with an agent in about 25 minutes when I'd been trying for days on my own. They have a video showing how it works at https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ?si=1hcSq3KFtCr4oAmd and their website is claimyr.com. The agent I spoke with was able to see exactly what was causing the delay in my payment processing.

•Yes, it worked for me. I was skeptical too but I was desperate after trying for days. The agent I got connected with explained there was a verification flag on my account that was causing the delay. They resolved it during that call and my payment showed up the next day.

I work in payroll and deal with SDI claims frequently. Here's what's happening: The EDD payment processing system operates in two stages. First, they approve the payment in their internal system (this is when it shows as "paid" on your portal). Then, they transmit payment data in batches to Bank of America for loading onto debit cards. This second stage typically takes 1-3 business days, depending on when your payment was included in a batch transmission. The first payment often processes faster because it goes through a priority queue for new claims. Don't panic yet - this is normal processing time.

•Thank you so much for explaining! That makes perfect sense why my first payment came so quickly compared to this one. I feel much better understanding the actual process rather than just wondering what's happening.

Did u try checking ur mail? Sometimes they send paper checks instead of putting it on the card if theres some kind of issue with the card. happened to my sister last year and she didnt know for like 2 weeks cuz she never checks her mail lol

•Oh that's a good point! I haven't checked my mail in a couple days actually. I'll go look today, though I'd be surprised if they switched to paper checks without notifying me.

•I'm pretty sure I'm using the right card - I only have one EDD card and it's the same one that received my first disability payment. But now you've got me second-guessing myself! I'll double-check my account info just to be safe.

Good news - I just checked the EDD website and they're reporting a system update that was completed Monday night. This sometimes causes a 24-hour delay in payment processing to the Bank of America system. Your payment should appear by tomorrow morning based on their current notice. This happens about once every quarter when they update their systems.

•THANK YOU for checking! That's such a relief to hear there's an actual explanation. I'll stop refreshing my balance every 5 minutes now 😅 Really appreciate everyone's help and advice!
