EDD SDI payment showing as issued but not in my bank account - how long is the delay?
I'm totally confused about my disability payments. I got an EDD notice yesterday stating my SDI payments were issued on 2/15 and 2/16 (two separate payments), but it's now 2/19 and nothing has shown up in my bank account. I definitely have direct deposit set up - I triple-checked my account info when I filed my claim last month. The EDD Online system shows the payments as 'paid' but my bank has zero record of any pending deposits. Is there normally a delay between when EDD says they paid you and when it actually hits your account? I'm getting really worried because my rent is due next week and I've been without income for over a month while recovering from surgery. Anyone else experience this kind of delay?

Yes, there's definitely a lag time! When EDD says "paid" it means they've processed the payment on their end, but it typically takes 2-3 business days for the money to actually hit your bank account. Since your payment was issued on 2/15-16 and today's only 2/19, I'd give it until tomorrow or the next day before worrying. Weekends don't count as business days, and Monday was a holiday, so that adds to the delay. If you don't see anything by Thursday, then I'd start trying to contact EDD.

•Thank you so much! That makes me feel better. I didn't even think about Monday being a holiday. I'll wait until Thursday before panicking.

I had this exact same issue last month! The payment notice said issued but nothing showed up for almost a week. I freaked out and spent HOURS trying to get through to EDD on the phone, and the day I finally got through, the money appeared in my account that morning. So frustrating! Have you double-checked that your direct deposit information is correct in your SDI account? Sometimes if there's even a tiny error in the routing or account number, it can cause delays or the payment might get returned to EDD.

•Yes, I checked my direct deposit info and it's definitely correct. I guess I'll just have to be patient! Glad to hear your money eventually showed up without having to do anything.

If you're still having trouble after a few more days, try using Claimyr to get through to an EDD representative quickly. I was in the same boat with missing payments and spent days trying to call EDD with no luck. Found Claimyr online (claimyr.com), and they got me connected to a real EDD agent in about 20 minutes. There's a video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ?si=1hcSq3KFtCr4oAmd. The agent was able to tell me exactly when my payment would arrive and why there was a delay. Saved me tons of stress!

•Is that service legit? Sounds too good to be true tbh. How does it even work??

•Yeah, it's completely legit. They basically call EDD for you using their system that navigates the phone tree and waits on hold, then connects you once they get through to an agent. Saved me hours of frustration. The video on their site shows exactly how it works.

I'm dealing with this right now too!!! EDD says my payment was issued 3 days ago but nothing in my account. Called my bank and they said they don't see any pending deposits from EDD at all. So stressful when you're counting on that money for bills. I'm going to wait one more day and then start calling EDD non-stop.

•Just to clarify, if there's been a federal holiday (like this past Monday), that doesn't count as a business day for ACH transfers. So the normal 2-3 business day window gets extended. EDD actually processes payments in batches, and direct deposits don't process on weekends or holidays. So a payment issued on Friday might not show up until Wednesday or Thursday of the following week. If you check your claim details on the SDI Online portal, look for the exact status of the payment - it should say something like "paid" with a date or "issued" with a date. That's your official payment date, and then add 2-3 business days from there.

My sister had this same problem when she was on disability after her car accident. They kept saying payments were issued but nothing showed up for weeks. Turns out she had entered her account number wrong when she set up direct deposit! Check your bank info on file with EDD carefully. One wrong digit and your money goes into limbo. If the account number is wrong, they'll eventually mail you a check but it takes FOREVER.

•I've checked my direct deposit info three times now and it's definitely correct. I guess I'm just dealing with the normal lag time between EDD processing and bank posting. Thanks for the suggestion though!

To add some clarification on how the EDD payment system works: 1. When EDD marks a payment as "issued," they've initiated the payment through their system. 2. The payment then goes through the ACH (Automated Clearing House) network, which typically takes 2-3 business days. 3. Weekends and federal holidays don't count as business days. 4. Sometimes your bank will show the deposit as "pending" before it's fully available, but some banks don't show pending ACH transfers at all. 5. If your payment was issued on 2/15-16, considering 2/17-18 was a weekend and 2/19 was a holiday, the earliest you would likely see it would be late 2/20 or 2/21. If you don't receive your payment by 2/22, then it would be appropriate to contact EDD. The fiscal department processes thousands of payments daily, so delays can happen, but they're usually resolved within the expected timeframe.

the edd is a total joke. they take forever to process claims then make u wait even longer to actually get ur $$$. i had to wait 5 business days last time even tho they said it was "paid" right away. the whole system is designed to make disabled people suffer more i swear.

•While I understand your frustration, the payment delay isn't actually EDD trying to make things difficult. Once EDD issues payment, they're subject to the same banking rules as everyone else. ACH transfers have standardized processing times across the financial system. It's not ideal, but it's not specifically an EDD problem - it's how all electronic payments work in the US banking system.

So glad to hear your payment came through! This is exactly why I always tell people in our community not to panic when they see that delay between "issued" and "received." Your experience is going to be really helpful for future members who find themselves in the same situation. It's such a relief when that money finally hits your account, especially when you're dealing with medical recovery and bills piling up. Thanks for coming back to update us - it really helps when people share their resolution!

This is such a common concern and I'm so glad you updated us with the resolution! As someone who's been navigating the SDI system for a while now, I can tell you that the 2-3 business day delay between "issued" and "received" is absolutely standard. What really throws people off is that EDD's system updates immediately to show "paid" but the actual banking infrastructure takes time to process. Your experience is going to be super helpful for other members who find this thread when they're in the same panic mode. It's such a relief when that direct deposit finally shows up, especially when you're already dealing with the stress of recovery and financial pressure. Thanks for taking the time to come back and let everyone know it worked out!

I'm currently waiting for my first payment that shows as "issued" two days ago, and reading everyone's experiences - especially @Jayden Reed's successful resolution - has really calmed my nerves. It's amazing how much stress that gap between "issued" and "received" can cause when you're already dealing with recovery and financial uncertainty. Thank you to everyone who shared their timelines and explanations about the ACH process. It's so valuable to have a community where people actually come back to update with positive outcomes. Looking forward to hopefully posting my own success update in a few days!
