EDD SDI payment delayed - scheduled direct deposit never arrived
I was supposed to receive my disability payment via direct deposit last Thursday (now it's been almost 5 days) and still nothing in my bank account. The EDD account shows 'paid' status but the money isn't there. This is my third disability payment and the first two came right on time. I checked with my bank and they don't see any pending deposits. Has anyone else experienced delays with their SDI payments recently? I've got rent due next week and I'm starting to get anxious. Called EDD about 20 times today but never got through to a real person.

This happened to me last month! The EDD website showed paid but the money took an extra 4 days to hit my account. Apparently there was some kind of processing delay at their end, not with my bank. I would keep checking your account daily. If it doesn't show up by tomorrow (a full business week), then you should definitely keep trying to contact them.

•Thanks for the reassurance. Did your payment just suddenly appear without any explanation? I'm wondering if I need to file some kind of inquiry or if I should just wait it out.

•Did you have to do anything to get it fixed or did it just show up eventually?

SAME ISSUE HERE!!! My payment from LAST WEEK is still MIA!!! The EDD website says it was issued but NOTHING in my account. I've called 50+ times and either get hung up on or told the queue is full. This is RIDICULOUS! I have medical bills piling up from my surgery and now I'm getting late fees because EDD can't get their act together. Does anyone know if there's a system-wide delay happening??

•I work at a clinic that helps patients with disability claims, and we've had several reports of payment delays this week. It seems like there might be a processing backlog in their system. Usually these resolve within 5-7 business days without requiring any action. If it goes beyond that, request a payment tracer when you finally reach someone.

I once had a payment take 9 days to appear! I was freaking out but then boom, it just showed up. Sometimes I wonder if they delay payments on purpose just to earn extra interest on the money or something...

•That's not how state disbursements work. These delays are almost always due to processing backlogs or electronic transfer issues between systems. The EDD doesn't earn interest on held payments - they're either in process at EDD, in transit between financial systems, or held up at the receiving bank.

After trying for THREE DAYS to reach someone at EDD about my late payment, I finally got through using Claimyr.com - it's this service that connects you to an EDD representative. They have a video showing how it works here: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ?si=1hcSq3KFtCr4oAmd. I was skeptical but desperate, and I got connected to an agent in about 25 minutes instead of trying to call repeatedly all day. The agent confirmed there was a system delay affecting some direct deposits but that my payment was processing correctly.

•Thanks for this suggestion. If my payment doesn't show up by tomorrow, I'll definitely look into it. Did the EDD agent give you any timeline for when your delayed payment would arrive?

•They told me 2-3 more business days, and it showed up in 2. The agent also put a note in my file about the delay so there's a record of it in case I need to reference it later.

•That's a good point! I'll check the mail more carefully. Did they ever explain why they suddenly switched you to a paper check?

•nope! just randomly came as a check. then the next payment went back to direct deposit. EDD works in mysterious ways lol

Just to clarify for everyone in this thread: When EDD SDI shows a payment as 'paid,' that means it has been processed on their end, but it still needs to go through the ACH (Automated Clearing House) system to reach your bank. This typically takes 1-3 business days, but occasionally can take longer due to various factors: 1. Bank holidays or weekends can add delays 2. Periodic EDD system maintenance or updates 3. First-time payments sometimes take longer than subsequent ones 4. Issues with account information can cause temporary holds If your payment doesn't arrive within 7 business days of showing 'paid' status, that's when you should escalate the issue. Request a payment tracer when you speak with a representative, and they can determine exactly where the payment is in the process.

•Thanks for this detailed explanation. Today's the 5th business day, so I'll give it until Friday before really panicking. I'll ask for a payment tracer if I need to call.

•So we're just supposed to wait a WEEK with no money while bills pile up?? What if someone needs their medication or can't buy food? This system is broken!

Have you checked if there's been any changes to your claim status? Sometimes a payment delay happens because they're reviewing your certification or medical documentation. When I was on pregnancy disability, one of my payments was delayed because they were doing a random quarterly review of my claim. The website still showed 'paid' but the money was actually on hold. Might be worth checking your claim details thoroughly or asking specifically about any reviews when you get through to someone.

•I didn't think of that. I'm due for my next medical certification in about two weeks, so maybe they're doing some kind of pre-review? I'll definitely check the claim details more carefully when I get home.

UPDATE: My payment finally hit my account this morning! No explanation for the delay, it just showed up. Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions. Seems like these random delays do happen occasionally with SDI payments.

•@a5ec92485497 Since you're at day 8 now, that's definitely beyond the normal processing time. I'd recommend trying that Claimyr service that @bef52cdd6657 mentioned earlier, or keep calling first thing in the morning when the phone lines open. At 8 days you should definitely request a payment tracer to find out exactly where your payment is stuck in the system.

I'm going through the exact same thing right now! My SDI payment was supposed to arrive on Tuesday and it's now Friday with nothing in my account. The EDD website shows "paid" but my bank account is still empty. I've been calling non-stop but can't get through to anyone. Reading through all these comments is actually really helpful - sounds like these delays happen more often than I thought. I'm going to wait until Monday (which would be day 7) and if it's still not there, I'll try that Claimyr service that was mentioned. It's so stressful when you're depending on this money and it just doesn't show up when it's supposed to. Thanks for posting this - at least now I know I'm not the only one dealing with this issue!

•I'm so glad you found this thread helpful! I was in the same boat just a few days ago - it's such a relief to know you're not alone when you're dealing with payment delays. The waiting is definitely the worst part, especially when you have bills and expenses that can't wait. From what I've learned here, it seems like most of these delays resolve themselves within that 5-7 business day window, but if you hit day 7 on Monday and still nothing, definitely try the Claimyr service or keep pushing to get through to EDD directly. Hang in there!

I'm dealing with this exact same situation right now! My SDI payment was supposed to arrive yesterday and it's still not in my account, even though the EDD portal shows "paid." This is so frustrating because I have a doctor's appointment on Monday that I need to pay for out of pocket before insurance reimburses me. Reading through everyone's experiences here is actually really reassuring though - it sounds like these delays are more common than I realized and most people get their money within a week. I'm going to give it until early next week before I start panicking, but it's good to know about that Claimyr service as a backup option if I can't get through on the phone. Thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences - it really helps to know we're not alone in dealing with these payment hiccups!

•I totally understand the frustration, especially when you have medical expenses coming up! I went through this same anxiety a couple months ago when my payment was delayed by 6 days. What helped me was checking my account first thing in the morning and last thing at night - mine actually appeared overnight on day 6. Since you're only at day 2, you're still well within that normal processing window everyone's been talking about. The fact that it shows "paid" on the EDD side is actually a good sign - it means the payment has been issued and is just working its way through the banking system. Hopefully it'll show up over the weekend or by Monday for your appointment!

I'm experiencing the same delay right now - my SDI payment was supposed to arrive on Wednesday but it's Friday and still nothing in my account. The EDD website shows "paid" status just like everyone else here is describing. This is incredibly stressful because I have rent due next Tuesday and was counting on this payment. It's somewhat comforting to read all these experiences showing that delays of 5-7 days seem to be somewhat normal, even though it's frustrating that EDD doesn't give any warning about potential delays. I'm going to wait through the weekend and see if it shows up by Monday before I try calling or using that Claimyr service. Thanks everyone for sharing - it really helps to know this isn't just happening to me!

•I'm in almost the exact same situation! My payment was supposed to arrive Thursday and it's now Friday evening with nothing. The rent stress is so real - I have mine due Wednesday and was really counting on this being there by now. It's been helpful reading through everyone's experiences here though. Sounds like most people are getting their delayed payments within that 5-7 day window, so hopefully we'll both see our money show up over the weekend or by Monday. The fact that it shows "paid" on EDD's end seems to be a good sign based on what others have shared. Fingers crossed for both of us that this resolves quickly!

I'm going through this exact same issue right now! My SDI payment was scheduled for Tuesday but it's now Friday and still hasn't hit my account. The EDD portal shows "paid" just like everyone else is describing. I've been calling EDD all week but can't get through to anyone - just get the "all representatives are busy" message and then it hangs up. Reading through all these comments has been really helpful though - it sounds like these 5-7 day delays are more common than I thought with SDI payments. I'm going to give it until Monday (which would be day 6 for me) before I try that Claimyr service that was mentioned. It's so stressful when you're depending on this money for basic expenses and it just doesn't show up when it's supposed to. Thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences - it really helps to know I'm not dealing with this alone!
