EDD Form 2593 Submitted in January - No Response Yet. Help with Supplemental Certification?

Hey everyone, I'm trying to figure out what's going on with my supplemental certification. I submitted form 2593 back in January, but I haven't heard anything back. Does anyone know how long it usually takes for them to process these? Also, I'm not sure what type of supplemental certification I'm supposed to be getting. Any help would be appreciated!

Ugh, the supplemental certification process is such a headache! I've been dealing with this for months now. Have you tried calling them? It might be faster to get answers that way.

I've tried calling, but I can never get through. It's so frustrating! 😤

Same here. I swear their phone lines are always busy on purpose šŸ™„

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 minutes on hold last week!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

I'm skeptical. $20 just to make a phone call? šŸ¤”

I get the skepticism, but it seriously saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imho.

Can you give more details about how it works? Do they guarantee you'll get through?

They don't guarantee it, but in my experience it worked great. You just put in your phone number and they call you when they get an agent. Simple as that.

The type of supplemental certification depends on your specific situation. Did you have any changes in your employment or earnings since your initial claim? That could affect which type you need.

Form 2593? I don't remember filling that out. Is that new? šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

It's not new, but it's not super common either. It's usually for specific situations like retroactive certifications.

I've been through this whole process, so let me break it down for you: • First, the type of supplemental certification depends on why you're filing it. Common reasons include: - Reporting additional wages - Correcting previously reported information - Certifying for weeks you missed • Form 2593 is typically used for retroactive certification. If you filed it in January, it's possible they're still processing it. Their backlog is insane right now. • Processing times vary wildly. I've seen it take anywhere from 2 weeks to 3 months. It sucks, but patience is key. • If you haven't already, make sure to check your online account for any messages or requests for additional information. Sometimes they need more details but don't contact you directly. • As others have mentioned, calling can help speed things up. If you can't get through, consider using one of those paid services that waits on hold for you. Hang in there! The system is frustrating, but persistence pays off. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed response! This helps a lot. I'll double-check my online account and try calling again.

Have you checked your spam folder? Sometimes their emails end up there. Also, make sure your contact info is up to date in your account.

I'm in the same boat. Filed my supplemental cert back in December and still crickets. This whole system is broken af šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø

December?! That's ridiculous. Have you tried contacting your local representative? Sometimes they can help push things along.

No, I haven't. Didn't even know that was an option. I'll look into it, thanks!

PSA: Always keep copies of everything you submit. You never know when they'll claim they didn't receive something.
