Have you checked your online account? Sometimes they update info there before sending notices. Might give you a clue about whats going on
@Toot-n-Mighty I went through something similar a few months ago! The key is having your documentation organized before you contact them. Make sure you have: - Original medical records with clear dates - Any appointment confirmations/receipts - Photos of any documentation they might have missed Also, when you do get through to someone, ask them to document the conversation in your file. That way if you have to call back, the next person can see what was discussed. Don't give up - I know it's frustrating but you've got this! 💪 And definitely try that assemblyman tip from @Giovanni Rossi if the regular channels don't work. Sometimes you need that extra push to get things moving.
One more thing - when you log into SDI Online using your existing account, check to make sure your contact information and payment preference is current. EDD often defaults to using your old debit card information from UI claims unless you specifically update it to direct deposit for your SDI claim. You'll need to update this separately within the SDI Online system, even if you already had direct deposit set up for unemployment.
Just went through this exact same situation a few months ago! You're right to be confused - the whole system is pretty unclear about this. Your existing ID.me account from unemployment will work perfectly for disability claims. When you log into the Benefit Programs Online portal, you'll see both UI Online and SDI Online options. Click SDI Online to access your disability claim info. The deposit to your old EDD card is probably your first SDI payment - they automatically use the same payment method from your previous claim unless you change it. Once you're in SDI Online, definitely switch to direct deposit if you prefer that over the debit card. The key thing is don't create a new ID.me account - that'll just cause headaches!
Just to update you on current processing times - as of June 2025, SDI claims with no issues are taking approximately 14-21 days to process. If there are any discrepancies or missing information, it can extend to 30+ days. Another tip: After your husband files his claim, he'll get a DE 2501P form in the mail. This shows his claim number, weekly benefit amount, and other important details. Keep this document safe - you'll need it for references and if you need to contact EDD about the claim status.
Welcome to the community! Just wanted to add one more helpful tip that saved me a lot of stress - after your husband files his SDI claim online, he'll get a confirmation number. Write that down immediately and take a screenshot! I lost mine the first time and had no way to track my claim status until I got the paperwork in the mail. Also, once he gets his Money Network card, download the app right away. You can check benefit deposits, set up direct deposit to your bank account (which is faster than using the card), and get notifications when payments are loaded. The app is way more convenient than calling the customer service line. Good luck with everything - sounds like you've got a solid plan thanks to all the great advice from everyone here!
Thank you so much for the warm welcome and the excellent tips! I definitely wouldn't have thought about screenshotting the confirmation number - that's such a practical detail. And the direct deposit option through the Money Network app sounds like a game-changer. I really appreciate how helpful everyone in this community has been. It's honestly overwhelming trying to navigate all of this, but you've all made it so much clearer. I'll make sure to follow up once we get through the process in case our experience can help the next person!
I made a similar mistake a few months ago and was panicking just like you are now! Here's what worked for me: I called the EDD disability line at 1-800-480-3287 right at 8 AM when they opened and got through after about 45 minutes of waiting. The rep was actually really understanding and was able to correct my mistake over the phone immediately. My payment wasn't delayed at all. Also, make sure you have your case number and all your info ready before calling - it makes the process much faster. Don't stress too much, they deal with these kinds of errors all the time and know how to fix them quickly. You got this! 💪
This is exactly what I needed to hear! Thank you for sharing your experience and for the specific phone number. I was getting so worked up about this but your story gives me hope that it'll be resolved quickly. I'll definitely have all my paperwork ready before I call. Really appreciate the encouragement! 🙏
I went through this exact same situation last year! Made a stupid error on my recertification and was absolutely freaking out about missing payments. Here's what I learned: EDD actually has a pretty good system for handling these mistakes. I ended up using their online correction form (if you log into your account, look for "Report Changes" or something similar) and also called the next morning. Got through around 9:30 AM and the rep fixed everything in like 10 minutes. My payment was only delayed by 3 days total. The key is acting fast - don't wait around hoping it'll fix itself. Also, if you're having trouble getting through on the phone, try calling on a Tuesday or Wednesday, seems like Mondays and Fridays are the worst. You'll be fine, just stay on top of it!

Just to update you on current timelines - I help people with disability claims regularly, and right now EDD is taking about 12-14 days to process pregnancy disability claims even when all forms are correctly submitted. This is longer than their usual 7-10 day window. Don't panic yet! Also, make sure you're ready to complete your continued certifications when they become available - that's another common delay point in the process.

•Thank you for this update! I'll try to be patient for another week at least. For the continued certifications, will I get a notification when it's time to complete those? This is my first time filing for disability so I'm still learning how everything works.

•Yes, you'll receive an email notification when it's time to certify. For pregnancy disability, you typically certify every two weeks. Make sure to complete these promptly as they become available - late certifications can cause payment delays. Also, if you plan to transition to Paid Family Leave after your recovery period, remember that's a separate application you'll need to file.

I'm going through this exact same situation right now! Filed my pregnancy disability claim at 36 weeks and have been stuck on "pending medical provider form" for 8 days. My OB's office insists they submitted everything but I'm starting to wonder if there was an issue with the submission. Reading through all these responses is really helpful - sounds like 2-3 weeks is pretty normal right now. I'm planning to call my doctor's office again tomorrow to double-check they have a confirmation number for the DE 2501 form submission. The waiting is so stressful when you're this close to your due date and counting on that income!

•I'm dealing with almost the same timeline! Filed at 34 weeks and it's been about 2 weeks now. Based on what everyone's saying here, it sounds like we just need to hang in there a bit longer. The stress is real though - I keep checking the portal multiple times a day hoping something changes. Have you tried asking your doctor's office for any kind of confirmation number or receipt that shows they actually submitted the form? That might give you some peace of mind while we wait for EDD to get their act together.
