Ugh, the EDD is such a mess rn. I've been waiting on my claim for months. Good luck, OP!
Hey OP, what exactly is the issue with your supplementary certificate? Did you not receive it, or are you having trouble filling it out?
Gotcha. For any sections you're unsure about, call EDD and ask for clarification. Better to get it right than risk delays!
@Connor O'Neill Which specific sections are giving you trouble? I just went through this process a few months ago and might be able to help you figure out what info they're looking for. Also, if you're missing documents they're asking for, you can usually write "Will provide upon request" or "Not available" and explain why in the margins.
This thread is so helpful! I'm 6 months pregnant and already stressing about navigating EDD after delivery. Saving all this info about the DE 2525XX form for later. Question - does the supplementary certificate process work the same way for vaginal delivery extensions, or is it just for C-sections? My doctor mentioned I might need extra recovery time due to some complications I've been having.
Great question! The DE 2525XX supplementary certificate process works for ANY delivery type when you need extended recovery time beyond the standard period. So yes, it applies to vaginal deliveries too if your doctor determines you need extra time due to complications. The key is that your doctor needs to medically justify why you need the extension - whether it's from C-section complications, tearing, infection, or other delivery-related issues. Definitely discuss this with your OB ahead of time so they're prepared to submit the form if needed. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!
I'm currently 8 months pregnant and this whole thread has been incredibly eye-opening! I had no idea about the DE 2525XX form or that doctors need to submit supplementary certificates for extensions. My OB never mentioned any of this during our birth plan discussions. I'm definitely going to bring this up at my next appointment so we're prepared. It sounds like the EDD system is pretty confusing to navigate, especially when you're dealing with postpartum recovery. Thank you all for sharing your experiences - this is exactly the kind of real-world info that you just don't get from the official EDD website!
any update??? did u get paid yet??
I'm going through the exact same thing right now! Been on SDI for 8 weeks and just got the recertification notice. Reading through all these comments is both helpful and terrifying - sounds like this delay is pretty normal but the stress is real when you're counting on that payment. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences, especially @CosmicCruiser for the update that it worked out! Going to make sure my doctor's office has the right fax number on file before they send anything.
You're smart to get ahead of the fax number issue! That seems to be where a lot of people get tripped up. I'd also suggest taking a screenshot or photo of your online recertification submission confirmation just in case there are any questions later. The waiting is definitely nerve-wracking but it sounds like most people do get their payments eventually, even if EDD takes their sweet time about it. Good luck with your recertification!
Ive been dealing with SDI for 3 months now and still havent gotten my claim sorted. its a nightmare. hope u have better luck than me OP
tried everything except that claimyr thing. might have to bite the bullet and try it next week if things dont improve
I ran into this same issue a few weeks ago! What finally worked for me was using a different browser entirely - I was using Chrome and kept getting errors, but when I switched to Firefox it went through no problem. Also make sure you're not using any ad blockers or privacy extensions that might be interfering with the site. If the browser switch doesn't work, I'd definitely recommend calling first thing in the morning around 8 AM when they open - that's when I had the best luck getting through. The wait was still annoying but way better than trying later in the day. Good luck with your claim!

Based on what you've shared, I think you have a reasonable case for SDI if: 1. You worked recently enough (through February 2025) 2. Had SDI deductions taken from your paychecks 3. Have a doctor willing to certify your disability 4. Can establish a disability date within the last 49 days Start the application online through SDI Online at the EDD website. Have all your employment information, doctor's contact details, and diagnosis information ready. The system will guide you through the process and generate the physician's portion that you'll need to take to your doctor. If you run into issues with the application, don't give up - reach out for help, as others have suggested. Chronic conditions absolutely can qualify for SDI.

•Thank you so much for breaking this down. I'm going to start my application today and make sure my doctor completes her portion right away. I really appreciate everyone's advice and support - it's given me a much clearer direction forward than I had before posting.

Just wanted to add that when you're filling out the SDI application, be very detailed about how your autoimmune disorder affects your daily work activities. Don't just say "fatigue" - explain specifically like "unable to concentrate for more than 30 minutes at a time" or "joint pain prevents typing for extended periods" or whatever applies to your situation. The more specific you are about functional limitations, the better your chances of approval. Also, keep copies of EVERYTHING you submit - I learned this the hard way when EDD claimed they never received my doctor's form even though we faxed it twice. Good luck with your application!
