I'm going through the exact same thing right now! Filed 3 weeks ago and my account shows the benefit amount but no payments yet. It's so stressful when you're counting on this money. I've been trying to call but can't get through - the phone system just hangs up on me after being on hold forever. Has anyone had luck with the online messaging system? I'm wondering if that might be faster than trying to call.
I've been in your exact situation! The online messaging system is definitely worth trying - it took about 4-5 days for them to respond to me, but at least you get a paper trail. When you message them, be super specific about your claim date, what documents you've submitted, and that your account shows the benefit amount but no payments. Also mention it's been 3 weeks - they seem to prioritize cases that have been waiting longer. Don't give up on calling either though - try right at 8am when they open, that seems to be the best time to actually get through!
I'm dealing with something similar - filed my SDI claim about 2.5 weeks ago and it's been radio silence since then. My online account shows the weekly benefit amount I'm supposed to get, but no actual payments have come through yet. It's really nerve-wracking because I'm relying on this to cover my basic expenses while I'm unable to work. I've tried calling multiple times but either get disconnected or the hold times are just impossible. Has anyone had better luck with specific times of day for calling? I'm also thinking about trying the online contact form, but I'm not sure how long their response times are for that. Really hoping we both get some movement on our claims soon! 🤞
I went through something similar about 6 months ago. Here's what worked for me: I logged into my SDI Online account and looked under "Forms" or "Documents" - sometimes the continued claim certification shows up there even if you don't get an email notification. Also, try clearing your browser cache and logging back in. The EDD website is notoriously glitchy and sometimes forms don't load properly. If that doesn't work, you can also try accessing your account from a different device or browser. The form is usually available 2 weeks before your current certification period expires. Hope this helps!
This is really helpful! I just tried clearing my cache and logging back in - still no luck with the form showing up. But I didn't know about the 2-week thing, so maybe it's just not available yet? When you say "Forms" section, is that under the main dashboard or somewhere else? I'm still pretty new to navigating the SDI website.
I'm dealing with something similar right now! My payments stopped last week and I've been panicking. Reading through all these responses is actually really reassuring - sounds like this is unfortunately pretty common with EDD. I'm going to try some of the suggestions here, especially checking my contact info and looking more carefully through my account for the form. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences, it really helps to know we're not alone in this mess! 🙏
Ive been in the same boat. Its a total nightmare. I finally got through after weeks of trying. Don't give up!
I've been through this exact same situation! For the ID.me email issue, try contacting their customer support directly through their help center - they can manually verify your identity and help you regain access or create a new account even if you can't access your old email. Also, since you haven't gotten SDI checks since August, you might be eligible for back payments once you get this sorted out. In the meantime, try calling EDD's SDI line (1-800-480-3287) early in the morning - around 8 AM seems to be the sweet spot. Document everything and keep trying - I know it's exhausting but you'll get through this! 💪
Just want to add one more important tip - when your doctor fills out the supplemental form, make sure they include specific details about your lifting restrictions (like "no lifting over 10 pounds" or "no repetitive bending"). Generic statements like "light duty" can sometimes cause delays or requests for clarification from EDD. Also, if your restrictions change again during recovery, you'll need another supplemental form each time. I learned this the hard way when my restrictions kept changing during my recovery from rotator cuff surgery. The more specific your doctor is about what you can and cannot do, the smoother the process will be!
This is such great advice! I hadn't thought about how specific the doctor needs to be with the restrictions. My doctor just said "light duty" in our appointment, so I'll definitely ask him to be more detailed when he fills out the supplemental form. Something like "no lifting over 15 pounds, no bending/twisting at waist, no prolonged standing" would probably be much clearer for EDD to understand why I can't do warehouse work. Thanks for sharing your experience with the rotator cuff recovery - it really helps to hear from someone who's been through the process!
I went through this exact same process after my hernia surgery last year! The transition from total disability to light duty restrictions can be confusing, but you're on the right track. Like others mentioned, you definitely stay on your current SDI claim - no need to file a new one. When you certify this weekend, be honest about your status change and EDD will automatically trigger the supplemental certification process. One thing I'd add is to give your doctor's office a heads up about the DE 2525XX form before you even certify. I called mine and explained the situation, and they were prepared when EDD sent the request. This helped avoid any delays. Also, if your doctor's office is tech-savvy, they can submit it electronically through SDI Online which is usually faster than mailing the paper form. The key thing EDD needs to see is that while you're medically cleared for some work, your specific job requirements (heavy lifting in your case) exceed your medical restrictions. As long as that's documented properly, your benefits should continue without interruption. Good luck with your recovery!
This is such helpful advice, especially about giving the doctor's office a heads up! I'm definitely going to call them tomorrow before I certify this weekend. It sounds like being proactive really makes a difference in avoiding delays. I'm curious - when you went through this process, did your payments continue normally during the time your doctor was filling out the supplemental form, or was there any gap? I'm a bit worried about timing since I still have bills to pay during recovery.

I'm in almost the exact same situation - mailed my medical form about 10 days ago and still stuck on "pending" status. Reading through all these comments has been both helpful and eye-opening about how broken the EDD system really is! 😤 Based on everyone's advice here, I'm going to try: - Faxing a backup copy to 1-855-327-7057 (thanks for sharing that number!) - Calling right at 8:00 AM sharp tomorrow - Following up through their online messaging system - Documenting everything in case I need to escalate It's ridiculous that we have to become EDD experts just to get basic updates on our own disability claims. But at least we're not alone in this nightmare! Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences and tips - it really helps to know there are others fighting the same battle. Hopefully we'll all see some movement soon! 🤞

•Same here! Just hit the 11-day mark and feeling anxious about it. Your plan sounds solid - I think hitting them from multiple angles is the way to go. I'm also going to try the early morning calling strategy since several people mentioned that works better. It's frustrating that we have to become EDD navigation experts just to get basic information, but this community has been so helpful! Let me know how the fax backup works out for you. We've got this! 💪

I'm in a very similar situation - just mailed my medical form about a week ago and already getting anxious about the pending status! Reading through everyone's experiences here has been really eye-opening. It sounds like 2-3 weeks is unfortunately the norm, which is frustrating but at least helps set expectations. I'm planning to take a multi-pronged approach based on all the great advice in this thread: - Fax a backup copy to 1-855-327-7057 (definitely saving that number!) - Try the 8:00 AM sharp calling strategy that several people mentioned - Send a message through the online portal asking for a status update - Start documenting every interaction with dates and reference numbers It's honestly ridiculous that we have to become EDD detectives just to get basic information about our own claims, but this community has been incredibly helpful! Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences and tips - it really helps to know we're not dealing with this broken system alone. Fingers crossed we all see some movement on our claims soon! 🙏
