CalFresh benefits not deposited at usual time - still waiting at 12:50am

Does anyone know when calfresh is deposited? It's 12:50 am and I still haven't received mine 😩 I usually get my benefits loaded right at midnight on my deposit date (the 11th) but nothing's showing up in my EBT balance yet. My family is counting on breakfast tomorrow and I'm getting worried. Is the system delayed tonight or should I be calling someone? This hasn't happened before in the 18 months I've been receiving benefits.

Thanks, that's reassuring. I've just never had it be late before so I was wondering if something changed with the deposit schedule.

CalFresh benefits are loaded onto EBT cards based on the last digit of your case number, not at midnight exactly. If your case number ends in 1, it's the 1st of the month, ending in 2 it's the 2nd, etc. It's never exactly at midnight though - system updates can happen anytime during your assigned day. Sometimes there are delays too.

My case ends in 1, so my benefits should've been loaded on the 1st. But I always get them on the 11th at midnight? I'm confused now.

There's often confusion about this. CalFresh and CalWORKs have different issuance schedules. CalFresh uses the case number method (1st-10th of month based on last digit), while CalWORKs cash benefits typically come on specific days like the 1st or 11th. Are you sure you're not mixing up your programs? Check your EBT card - it should show separate balances for SNAP (food) and CASH benefits.

I HATE HOW THEY NEVER WARN US ABOUT DELAYS!!!! I've been on calfresh for 3 years and sometimes the system just randomly decides to be late, especially on weekends or holidays. Check again at 8am, it'll probably be there. If not, good luck getting through to anyone on the phone. You'll be on hold for 4 HOURS only to get disconnected!!!!!

It's truly frustrating when the benefits are delayed with no notification! For anyone having trouble reaching the county office, I discovered a service called Claimyr that actually calls and waits on hold with CalFresh for you. When a representative answers, they call your phone to connect you. Saved me hours last month when my verification documents weren't processed correctly. Their website is claimyr.com and they have a video demo at https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8 showing how it works. Way better than spending your whole day on hold!

Benefits are supposed to be available on your assigned day, but system maintenance and updates can cause delays of 12-24 hours sometimes. There's nothing you can do except wait until morning. If your benefits aren't there by 10am, then call the EBT customer service line (not your county office) at 1-877-328-9677. They can tell you if there's a system-wide delay or an issue specific to your case.

Update: My benefits just loaded at 6:30am! You were right about the delay. Seems like it was just a system thing. Thanks everyone for the help and information!

My daughter had this same issue last month. Turns out she missed turning in her SAR7 form and didn't realize it. They reinstated her benefits after she submitted it, but it caused a weird delay in when they appeared. Might want to double check that all your paperwork is current too, just to be safe.

I submitted my SAR7 two months ago and got confirmation it was processed, so I don't think that's the issue. But good reminder to always keep up with the paperwork!

Does anyone know if there's a way to get text alerts when benefits are deposited? I always have this anxiety every month wondering if they'll come on time.

Yes! You can sign up for EBT text alerts through the ConnectEBT mobile app or at connectebt.com. It will notify you when benefits are deposited and give balance alerts. Many people don't know about this feature, but it's really helpful for exactly this situation.

@Arjun Patel Thank you so much for this tip! I had no idea the ConnectEBT app had text alerts. Just downloaded it and set up notifications - this will save me so much stress each month. Really appreciate you sharing this!

I'm new to CalFresh and this thread is so helpful! I just got approved last week and my benefits are supposed to load on the 8th (my case number ends in 8). Reading about the potential delays and the ConnectEBT app alerts makes me feel more prepared. It's reassuring to see that delays happen sometimes but usually resolve within a day. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences - this community is amazing for newcomers like me!
