CalFresh EBT deposit late this morning - still nothing at 8am?
Anyone else waiting for their CalFresh benefits to hit their EBT card this morning? It's already 8am and nothing's showing up yet. My deposit usually comes through by 6am on my scheduled date (the 7th). Getting a little worried since I promised my kids I'd get groceries on the way home from dropping them at school. Does anyone know if there's a system delay today or if deposit times have changed recently? My balance is still just $4.32 from last month.

•Glad it's not just me. I tried calling the EBT hotline but it just gives that automated message about benefits being available on my issuance date. Doesn't help when that's TODAY.

Benefits are loaded based on the last digit of your case number, not a specific time of day. The schedule is: 1 = 1st day of month 2 = 2nd day of month And so on up to 0 = 10th day But within your assigned day, it can happen anytime from midnight to late evening. There's no guaranteed time. I've had mine come through at 11pm before.

•Thanks for explaining. My case number ends in 7 which is today, but I've gotten used to it being there early morning. Guess I shouldn't count on that specific time. Really stresses me out though when it changes!

•This happens to me every other month I swear. Nothing all day, then suddenly at dinner time *ping* there's the deposit notification. So annoying when you're trying to plan your day around grocery shopping.

I had this problem a few months ago and I spent FOUR HOURS trying to get through to my county worker. When I finally did, they told me there was a system update that caused delays. But I wasted my whole morning on hold!! Has anyone tried using Claimyr? My friend told me about it at claimyr.com - there's a video showing how it works at https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8. Apparently they call and wait on hold for you then call you when they get a person. Wish I knew about it when I had my issue!

This is a common occurrence, unfortunately. While benefits are supposed to be deposited on your assigned day (based on the last digit of your case number), the exact timing can vary widely. What many people don't realize is that sometimes there are system updates or maintenance that can delay the deposit time. If it's your correct issuance day and you don't receive benefits by end of day, THEN you should be concerned and contact your county office tomorrow morning. But fluctuations in timing during your assigned day are normal, though frustrating. There have been no announced system-wide delays for June 2025 issuances that I'm aware of.

•Thank you for the detailed explanation. It's now 11:42am and my benefits just got deposited! I guess I was just used to the early morning schedule. Will definitely keep in mind that the timing can vary in the future.

Wait - are you sure today is even your issuance date? My worker told me they changed some people's dates during the big system upgrade last month. Mine moved from the 5th to the 8th and I only found out by accident when I called about something else. Maybe check your last Notice of Action letter or login to BenefitsCal to confirm your actual date for June 2025.

•OMG I didn't know they could just change dates! I haven't received any notice about that. I just logged into BenefitsCal and it still shows the 7th as my date. Benefits finally came through around 11:40am today, so crisis averted, but that's good to know they might change it. I'll keep an eye on my mail for any notices.

My sister works for the county (different department) but she says they're always doing system maintenance the first week of each month which can delay things. It's just how government IT works apparently. I learned to just not plan anything important for issuance day because of this.

Since your benefits have now been deposited, here's a tip for future months: You can set up text alerts through the EBT app or website that will notify you the moment your benefits are deposited. This way you don't have to keep checking your balance throughout the day. Just go to the ConnectEBT website, login, and look under "Preferences" or "Notifications" to set it up.

•That's really helpful! I had no idea I could set up alerts. Will definitely do that tonight so I'm prepared for next month. Thanks for the tip!

I'm new to CalFresh and this thread is super helpful! I just got approved last month and my issuance date is the 15th (case number ends in 5). Now I know not to panic if the deposit doesn't come at exactly the same time each month. The text alert tip is great - I'm going to set that up right away. It's reassuring to know that timing variations are normal even though it's stressful when you're depending on those benefits for groceries.

•Welcome to CalFresh! You're absolutely right that the timing can be stressful when you're counting on those benefits. One thing that helped me when I was new was keeping a small emergency stash of shelf-stable foods (like rice, beans, pasta) just in case there are delays. Also, don't hesitate to ask questions here - this community has been super supportive and knowledgeable. The text alerts really do help with the anxiety of not knowing when it's coming!

This whole thread has been so reassuring! I'm relatively new to CalFresh (about 6 months now) and I still get anxious every month wondering if something went wrong with my case. My issuance date is the 3rd and I've noticed the timing really does vary - sometimes it's there when I wake up, other times not until afternoon. The text alert suggestion is genius - I had no idea that was even an option! Going to set that up today. It's so helpful to have a community where we can share these experiences and tips. Makes the whole process feel less isolating when you know others are going through the same thing.

•I totally relate to that monthly anxiety! I've been on CalFresh for about a year now and I still feel that little panic when the deposit doesn't show up at the "usual" time. What really helped me was reading through old posts in this community - you realize pretty quickly that deposit timing issues are super common and usually resolve themselves by end of day. The text alerts really are a game changer for peace of mind. Also, if you ever do have a real issue (like benefits not showing up at all after your issuance date), don't hesitate to call your county office first thing the next morning. This community has been such a lifesaver for navigating all the quirks of the system!
