CalFresh benefits missing from EBT card - deposit delay but not theft?

Is anyone else still waiting for their February CalFresh deposit? I stayed up until midnight to place a grocery delivery order (we're down to ramen and peanut butter) and when I checked my EBT balance at 12:01am, it was still showing just $5.72. I've been reading about all these EBT skimming scams so I immediately checked my transaction history on BenefitsCal and there's literally NO deposit showing up at all for February - so I don't think my benefits were stolen, they just never arrived! My deposit date has always been the 9th for the past year. Called the EBT customer service number but just got the automated system. Anyone else experiencing delays this month? My kids are home for winter break next week and I was counting on this for groceries...

Did you call the county office yet? I'm planning to try in the morning but worried about getting stuck on hold for hours. 😣

This happened last month too - seems like the CalFresh system is having deposit delays. According to my caseworker, benefits can actually post anytime within a 3-day window of your usual date. So if your normal date is the 9th, it could potentially arrive by the 12th and still be considered \

Thanks for this info! I had no idea there was a 3-day window. I'll check the app for messages too. Just so stressful when you're planning around that specific date. I have three hungry kids and was literally waiting to place a grocery order the minute benefits hit.

YOU NEED TO ALWAYS ASSUME EBT WILL BE LATE!!! County offices NEVER care if we have food or not. I've been on CalFresh for 5 years and benefits have been late at least 6-7 times with ZERO notice or explanation. Did you submit your SAR7 on time? They'll use ANY excuse to delay benefits.

Yes, I submitted my SAR7A back in December and got confirmation that everything was processed correctly. I even double-checked my income reporting since I picked up a few extra holiday shifts at work. Just frustrating because I've never had a delay before in over a year.

This might be related to the system upgrades they were implementing last week. Several counties experienced delayed deposits when they migrated to the new EBT processing system. It's affecting both regular deposit schedules and replacement benefits.\n\nIf you need to reach someone at your county office, I'd recommend using Claimyr (claimyr.com) - it's a service that waits on hold with the CalFresh office for you and calls you when a real person answers. Saved me hours when I had a similar issue last month. They have a demo video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8

Thank you so much for this tip! I have a job interview tomorrow morning and was stressing about how I'd manage to stay on hold with the county AND prep for the interview. Going to check out that service right now.

I work for a community organization that partners with the county, and I can confirm there was a scheduled system maintenance that affected EBT deposits this week. Most benefits should post by Monday morning. If you're in an emergency situation, you can request expedited replacement benefits by calling your county worker directly and explaining the hardship. They can sometimes process same-day emergency benefits that you can pick up at the office.

Thank you! This is really helpful. I wish they would notify people in advance when there's maintenance that could delay benefits. Many of us plan our entire food budget around these specific dates.

I completely agree. I've brought this up in partner meetings multiple times. The county should absolutely send text alerts or app notifications when there are planned system maintenances that could affect benefit delivery. I'll bring it up again at our next stakeholder meeting.

i had this happen and went to the calFRESH office in person and they found out my address got messed up in the system somehow so my new EBT card got mailed to my old address from like 2 years ago... might check if anything like that happened? sometimes the computer systems just glitch

Oh wow, that's concerning! I've been at the same address the whole time I've been on CalFresh, but I should check if something weird happened with my contact info. Thanks for the suggestion!

Just checking in - did your benefits post yet? Several people in my building had theirs show up early this morning (around 4am).

YES! Thank you for checking. They finally showed up at 5:30am. Such a relief! I was able to place my grocery order and delivery is coming this afternoon. Really appreciate everyone's help and suggestions - this community is amazing. 💕
