Anyone else showing 'Pending' status on EBT Edge for February CalFresh benefits?
I just checked my balance on the EBT Edge website and my February CalFresh benefits are showing as 'pending' instead of being available like normal. It's already the 8th of the month and my benefits are usually deposited on the 3rd based on my case number. Nothing has changed with my case and I didn't get any notices about problems. Is this happening to anyone else? I'm getting really worried because I'm down to $28 on my card and was counting on this month's deposit. Called the EBT customer service number but just got a bunch of automated messages.

Mine is showing pending too! Been that way since yesterday. My February benefits should have been loaded on the 6th. Was starting to think it was just me. I called the county office but couldn't get through to an actual person. Something must be going on with the system...

•Thank you for letting me know! At least I'm not alone in this. Did you try calling your caseworker directly or just the main county line?

There's actually a system-wide delay happening right now across several counties. I spoke with my eligibility worker yesterday who confirmed this. According to him, there was a technical issue during the monthly benefit transfer process that's affecting thousands of cases. Benefits are still approved but stuck in 'pending' status in the EBT system. They're working on fixing it and benefits should appear within 48-72 hours. If you're in an emergency situation where you need food immediately, you can request an expedited resolution by contacting your county office and specifically asking for an 'emergency benefit release' due to imminent food insecurity. Make sure to mention if you have children or vulnerable household members.

•Thank you so much for this info! Really relieved to hear it's a system issue and not something wrong with my case. I'll try to hold out the 48-72 hours before panicking more.

This happens EVERY FREAKING YEAR. The system is totally broken. Last year my benefits were "pending" for TWO WEEKS in April and nobody could tell me why. The county workers just said "it's processing" over and over. Meanwhile my kids were hungry and I had to borrow money from my sister. They don't care about us AT ALL. Bet if their paychecks were "pending" they'd fix it in 5 minutes!!! 🤬

•I understand your frustration, but this is actually not a regular occurrence. System-wide delays like this one happen rarely, maybe once every few years. The CalFresh system processes millions of benefits each month, and the vast majority arrive on time. Your experience last April was unfortunate but not typical. If benefits are delayed more than 3 days, you should request a case review as that's outside their normal resolution timeframe.

If you're still having trouble reaching someone at your county office about this pending status issue, I'd recommend trying Claimyr. I was in a similar situation last year with an unexplained benefit delay and spent hours on hold trying to reach my worker. Claimyr got me connected to a real person at the CalFresh office in under 10 minutes. They call the office for you and then connect you once they reach a human. Saved me literally hours of frustration. You can see how it works in their video demo: https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8 or check them out at claimyr.com

•Does this really work??? The county office NEVER answers when I call. Like seriously I've waited 2+ hours before giving up.

•Yes, it actually does work. They basically have a system that navigates all the phone menus and waits on hold for you, then calls you when they get a human. I was skeptical too but was desperate after trying for days to reach someone about my recertification issue.

•That's actually incorrect information. The emergency allotments from the pandemic ended in early 2023, and there are no plans to reinstate them for 2025. The current delay is purely a technical issue with the benefit processing system and is unrelated to any benefit increases. Be careful about relying on word-of-mouth information about CalFresh benefits, as it often leads to confusion.

For anyone still showing pending status: I just received confirmation from the state CalFresh office that all remaining pending cases should be resolved by tomorrow morning. The technical issue affected approximately 30% of cases statewide, primarily those with case numbers ending in specific digits. If your benefits aren't available by tomorrow afternoon, you should contact your county office directly as your case might have a different issue requiring individual attention.
