When exactly do CalFresh benefits get loaded onto EBT cards? Nothing received yet this month
I'm getting really worried because my CalFresh benefits haven't been loaded to my EBT card yet this month. I've been checking multiple times a day and still nothing! I thought benefits were supposed to be available by the 10th day of each month? I'm down to basically nothing in my pantry and was counting on this for groceries. My case number ends in 7 if that matters for the deposit schedule. Does anyone know the exact deposit dates for April 2025? Is there a delay happening right now or should I be calling the county office? I can't afford to wait much longer.

CalFresh benefits are staggered throughout the first 10 days of each month based on the last digit of your case number. Since yours ends in 7, your benefits should have been deposited on the 7th of the month. It's definitely worth calling your county office to check what's happening - could be a system glitch or there might be an issue with your case they haven't notified you about yet.

•Thank you for clarifying! Today's the 11th so I definitely should have received it by now. I'll try calling tomorrow morning.

•Ugh, that's exactly what I'm worried about! Did they eventually release your benefits or are you still waiting too?

Check if you missed submitting your SAR7 form. That's usually why benefits get delayed. They're super strict about those deadlines.

•I submitted my SAR7 two months ago and got confirmation it was processed. That's why I'm so confused!

So the CalFresh deposit schedule is based on the last digit of your case number (not your card number), and benefits are available by midnight on your assigned day. For case numbers ending in 7, your benefits should be available on the 7th day of each month. If it's past your assigned day, there could be several reasons for the delay: 1. There might be an issue with your eligibility or verification documents 2. Your Semi-Annual Report (SAR7) or annual recertification might be due 3. You might have received an Income Reporting Threshold (IRT) letter that needed response 4. There could be a system issue with EBT card loading I'd recommend calling your county office directly. Be prepared to wait on hold for a long time, unfortunately. The EBT customer service line (1-877-328-9677) can only tell you if funds were loaded, not why they weren't loaded.

•Thank you for this detailed info! I didn't receive any IRT letters recently and my recertification isn't due until September. I guess I need to call the county office tomorrow.

Before you panic, have you tried checking your balance through the BenefitsCal website or app? Sometimes the automated phone system isn't updated but your benefits are actually there. Also, did you check if you received any notices in the mail recently? They should notify you if there's a discontinuance of benefits.

•I checked BenefitsCal and the app too - both show $0 balance. I haven't received any notices either, which is why this is so confusing! I've been receiving benefits consistently for over a year with no problems until now.

FYI they changed some of the deposit dates in 2025 cuz of system updates. My worker told me this last month when I called about something else. I think some people are getting their deposits a day or two later than usual. Might be worth checking tomorrow before panicking

•That's good to know, but I'm already 4 days past when I should have received it based on my case number. I'll definitely be calling tomorrow.

I had a similar problem in February. Turned out they needed additional verification because someone reported I moved out of county (which wasn't true). The annoying part was they sent the verification request to my old address from 2 years ago that was still in their system! So I never got the notice and my benefits got cut off. Trying to call the CalFresh office was a nightmare - waited on hold for 3+ hours before getting disconnected. I ended up using Claimyr.com which got me through to a real person in about 15 minutes. They have this system where they wait on hold for you and call you back when a worker answers. They even have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8 Once I got through, the worker saw the verification request error and fixed it on the spot. My benefits were loaded the next day with backpay for what I missed.

Here's an important thing to check - log into your BenefitsCal account and see if there are any "Tasks" or messages in your account that you might have missed. Sometimes they send electronic notices that don't arrive in the mail. Also, April 2025 benefits might be affected by the quarterly adjustment they made to income limits. If your income is near the threshold, you might need to provide updated verification before they release your benefits. Definitely call your county worker as soon as possible. If your benefits were wrongfully delayed, you should receive retroactive benefits once the issue is fixed.

•I just checked my BenefitsCal account again and you're right - there was a task I missed from 3 weeks ago asking for proof of rent! It was only showing in the mobile app for some reason, not on the website version I usually check. Thank you so much for suggesting this! I'll upload the document right away and call them tomorrow.

Glad you found the issue! Pro tip: upload the document ASAP and then call them to let them know you've submitted it. Ask them specifically to expedite processing due to hardship. Under CalFresh regulations, they're required to process these verifications within 10 days, but if you explain you're out of food, they can often process it faster. Also, be sure to keep checking both the app AND website - the systems don't always sync perfectly.

•Already uploaded my lease! THANK YOU all for the help. Will definitely call first thing tomorrow and ask about expedited processing. I'll update once I get it resolved in case anyone else runs into this issue.

Hope you get this resolved quickly! Just wanted to add that if you're running really low on food while waiting for your benefits to get sorted out, you might want to check if there are any local food banks or pantries in your area that can help bridge the gap. Many don't require any paperwork and can provide groceries same-day. The 211 helpline (dial 2-1-1) can help you find resources nearby. It's frustrating when the system fails us like this, but at least you found the missing task. Fingers crossed they process it fast once you call tomorrow!
