CalFresh benefits missing after system update - anyone get their EBT funds restored yet?
I usually get my CalFresh loaded on the 10th of every month, but it's now the 14th and still nothing on my EBT card. Called the customer service number yesterday but all I got was a recording saying something about a 'system update' that might delay some benefits this month. I'm down to basically nothing in my fridge and really counting on these benefits. Has anyone else experienced this delay? Did you get your funds back already? I'm worried they might have discontinued me without notification, but my account online still says I'm active.

•Glad (but not glad) I'm not the only one. Have you tried checking your BenefitsCal account to see if it still says you're active?

This system update is affecting thousands of people across California. My worker told me when I finally got through yesterday that they're upgrading the EBT issuance software and some counties are experiencing 3-7 day delays. They said all benefits WILL be issued retroactively, but they couldn't tell me exactly when. She suggested filing for expedited benefits if you have less than $150 in resources and your rent/utilities exceed half your monthly income.

•Wait, how do you file for 'expedited benefits'? Would I need to go to the office in person or can that be done online? My kids are literally eating ramen for dinner tonight because of this mess.

•You can request expedited services through BenefitsCal.com or by calling your county office. Just tell them you need emergency CalFresh due to the system delay. They're supposed to issue benefits within 3 days if you qualify for expedited. Make sure to mention if you have children in the household!

This happened to me too, but I got my funds this morning! Check your balance again. The system update apparently finished for some counties already. I'm in Sacramento County. Which county are you in? I've noticed L.A. and San Diego still having issues according to other forums.

•I'm in Riverside County and still nothing as of 10 minutes ago when I checked again. It's so frustrating because my recertification went through perfectly last month, and I got the approval letter, so I know I'm supposed to receive benefits. Did you do anything special to get yours loaded?

•No, it just showed up suddenly this morning. But I did submit a help ticket through the BenefitsCal website's contact form yesterday explaining the situation. Maybe that helped? I've heard Riverside is one of the counties still working through the backlog. Hang in there!

I work for one of the community organizations that partners with CDSS. The system update was scheduled but is taking longer than expected. I can confirm what others have said - benefits WILL be issued retroactively, and no one is losing eligibility due to this technical issue. The counties most affected are LA, San Diego, Riverside, San Bernardino, and parts of the Central Valley. If you need emergency food assistance while waiting, please contact your local food bank. Most have expanded services specifically because of this delay.

I had this EXACT same problem last month (different issue - they said it was my SAR7 but I had submitted it). I literally spent 3 DAYS trying to reach someone at the county office. I kept getting disconnected or waiting for hours. Finally I found this service called Claimyr that got me through to a real person at the CalFresh office in like 15 minutes! They called, navigated all the phone menus, waited on hold FOR ME, and then called me when they had a real person on the line. I got my benefits the next day after explaining the situation. Here's their site: claimyr.com - they even have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8 Seriously saved my sanity.

•Thanks for the tip! I'm going to try the help ticket approach first, but if that doesn't work by tomorrow, I might try this. I just need to get this resolved ASAP.

This might not be related to the system update at all. When was your last SAR7 due? Or is this a recertification month for you? Sometimes they discontinue benefits if they don't receive your paperwork, even if your online account still shows active. The system can take a few days to update your actual status. I'd double-check if you missed any paperwork deadlines before assuming it's just the system update causing delays.

•My SAR7 isn't due until next month, and I just completed recertification in March (got approved through March 2026). That's why I'm pretty sure it's the system update causing the problem, not anything with my eligibility. But it's a good point to check - I've definitely had issues with paperwork in the past.

UPDATE: Just saw on the CDSS website that they expect all delayed benefits to be issued by this Friday (the 17th). They're processing counties in alphabetical order, so Riverside should be coming up soon. They also added a special hotline just for this issue: 1-888-555-7822. Might be worth trying that number instead of the regular customer service line.

•Thank you so much for this update! I'll check again tomorrow and try that hotline if my benefits still aren't there. Really appreciate everyone's help with this.

FINAL UPDATE: My benefits were finally loaded this morning! Full amount, no reduction. For anyone else experiencing this issue, definitely try that special hotline number that was shared. I got through in about 15 minutes yesterday, and they confirmed my case was affected by the system update but was scheduled for processing last night. Sure enough, funds were there this morning. Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions!

•Great news! Glad it worked out. This is why I always tell people to keep checking their EBT balance daily when there are issues. The funds can appear at any time without notification. And always keep documentation of these situations in case it happens again!

So glad to see this resolved! I'm dealing with the same issue in Fresno County - benefits were supposed to load on the 12th and still nothing. Just tried that special hotline number and actually got through in about 8 minutes! The rep confirmed my case is in the queue and should process within 24-48 hours. She also mentioned they're prioritizing households with children and elderly members, so if that applies to anyone still waiting, definitely mention it when you call. Thanks for sharing all the updates throughout this thread - it really helped knowing I wasn't alone in this situation!
