CalFresh EBT benefits not loaded on scheduled date - case ending in 3 but funds missing?
I'm stressing out right now because my CalFresh benefits haven't loaded on my EBT card yet. According to the CA issuance schedule, cases ending in 3 should receive benefits on the 3rd of each month. My case number ends in 3 (printed on my EBT card), but it's now the 4th and my account still shows $0. I've been receiving benefits since January 2025 and this is the first time there's been a delay. I was counting on these funds for groceries today. Has anyone else experienced this? Should I be worried that my benefits were discontinued without notice? The county office is already closed today so I can't call until tomorrow.

Did u check the BenefitsCal website to see if theres a pending notice or something? Sometimes they load late like at midnight. Mine ends in 7 so I dont get mine til the 7th but last month it didn't show up till like 2am on the 8th.

•I did check BenefitsCal but nothing seems wrong there. My last SAR7 was processed successfully and it still shows I'm active. I'll check again at midnight but I'm worried because my kids need food for school tomorrow...

This happens occasionally due to system delays. If your case is active on BenefitsCal, you're probably fine. A few things to check: 1. Verify your last SAR7 or recertification was processed correctly 2. Check if you reported any income changes that might have triggered a review 3. Look for any notices in your BenefitsCal account or mail about verification requests If nothing shows up, it's likely just a processing delay. The benefit issuance schedule is the target date, but occasionally technical issues cause delays. If nothing posts by tomorrow morning, you should definitely call your county office.

•Thank you for this detailed response! I did submit my SAR7 last month and it was marked as processed. I didn't report any income changes. I'll wait until tomorrow morning and then call if nothing posts overnight.

Same thing happening to me!!! My case ends in 3 too and nothing loaded yet. I called the EBT customer service line (not the county) and the automated system still shows my regular benefit amount but says it hasn't been deposited yet. Something must be wrong with their system.

•Oh wow, so it's not just me! That's actually a bit of a relief. Thanks for sharing that you called the EBT line - I didn't think to try that. Did they give you any idea when it might be fixed?

•No they just have that stupid automated system. I tried pressing 0 like fifty times to get a human but it just kept going in circles. so annoying when u need ur benefits!!!

There's been a statewide delay in CalFresh benefit loading according to the CalFresh Facebook group I'm in. Apparently it's affecting many people with case numbers ending in 3 and 4. They said benefits should load by tomorrow morning. I know it's stressful, but it seems to be a technical issue rather than something wrong with individual cases.

•Thank you so much for this information! I'm not on Facebook so I wouldn't have seen that update. Huge relief knowing it's a system issue and not just my account.

If you need to reach CalFresh tomorrow and are worried about the long phone wait times, I'd recommend trying Claimyr. I used it last month when my verification documents weren't showing as received. It got me through to a live person at the county in about 10 minutes instead of waiting for hours or getting disconnected. Their website is claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works here: https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8 I was skeptical at first but it saved me from taking a day off work to visit the office in person.

•Does this actually work? I've spent HOURS on hold with Alameda County last month. Got disconnected twice after waiting over an hour each time.

THIS HAPPENS EVERYTIME THERE'S A HOLIDAY!!! Even though the 4th of July was last week, the system is STILL messed up. The county workers probably took extended vacations and nobody's there to push the button or whatever they do. My caseworker even admitted to me once that holidays mess up their whole system. But of course WE'RE the ones who suffer without food. 🙄

•That's so frustrating! I didn't even consider the holiday might be affecting it still. You'd think they'd have better systems in place by 2025...

UPDATE: I just spoke with a CalFresh supervisor. There was indeed a system issue with benefit issuance for case numbers ending in 3 and 4 that was related to the holiday processing schedule. Benefits should be loaded by 6am tomorrow (the 5th). They're sending a mass notification, but it may not reach everyone immediately.

For future reference, these system-wide delays happen a few times a year. I always keep a small emergency food supply for these situations. Also, if you're ever in a true emergency and your benefits don't load, you can sometimes get same-day emergency assistance if you go to the county office in person and explain that you have no food. They can occasionally issue immediate benefits on your EBT card if it's truly an emergency situation. Just something to keep in mind for the future!

•That's really helpful information. I'll definitely start keeping an emergency supply. And I didn't know about the same-day assistance option - that's great to know in case this happens again during a time when I really have nothing. Thanks!

I'm so glad this worked out for everyone! This is a perfect example of why this community is so valuable - Dylan was stressed and got real help from people who've been through similar situations. @Ellie Lopez thank you for getting that official update from the supervisor, that made all the difference. And @Paige Cantoni the tip about emergency assistance is gold - I've been on CalFresh for 2 years and never knew that was an option. For anyone reading this later, it's also worth noting that the EBT customer service line (1-877-328-9677) can at least confirm if your benefits are "pending" even if they can't tell you exactly when they'll post. Bookmark this thread - it's a great reference for future delays!

•This is exactly why I love this community! As someone new here, seeing how everyone rallied around @Dylan Baskin when they were stressed about their missing benefits really shows what mutual aid looks like. I just signed up for CalFresh last month and had no idea about things like the EBT customer service line or emergency assistance options. Definitely saving that phone number and bookmarking this thread like you suggested. It s'scary when you re'relying on these benefits and something goes wrong, but knowing there are people here who understand and can share real solutions makes such a difference. Thank you everyone for being so supportive!
