CalFresh extra allotment not showing on EBT card after midnight - something wrong?
I'm kind of freaking out right now. Every month since I got approved for CalFresh in September, our extra allotment has been deposited by midnight on the 5th like clockwork. It's now 3am on the 6th and nothing has shown up in my EBT balance. I checked BenefitsCal and my case still shows as active. We really depend on these benefits to get through the month with our 3 kids, and I've already planned my grocery shopping for tomorrow. Has anyone else not received their extra benefits yet? Is there a delay happening this month or should I be worried something's wrong with my case?

•Oh thank god it's not just me! I was worried they discontinued my benefits without telling me.

This happens occasionally - there's probably a system delay at the state level. Back in November 2024, my benefits were 2 days late because of what the worker called a "batch processing delay." I wouldn't panic yet. Your regular CalFresh benefits should have loaded on your normal issuance date based on the last digit of your case number, and the extra allotment sometimes comes separately. If nothing shows up by the end of tomorrow, that's when I'd call the county.

•Thank you for explaining! I did get my regular benefits on the 1st (my case ends in 1), but we really count on that extra amount too. I'll wait until tomorrow evening before panicking more.

•The "extra allotment" refers to the supplemental benefits some households receive to bring them up to the maximum benefit level for their household size. Not everyone gets this - it depends on your income and expenses. If your household already receives the maximum benefit amount for your family size, you wouldn't get an extra allotment. You might want to check if you're receiving the correct amount based on your household circumstances at your next recertification.

I just called the EBT customer service line (not the county office) and they said there's been a processing delay affecting multiple counties. The representative told me the extra allotments should appear within 24-48 hours. Just wanted to share this update with everyone who's worried!

•Thank you SO MUCH for sharing this! I've been trying to call the county office all morning but can't get through - just the usual "all representatives are busy" message before it hangs up. At least now I know what's happening.

This happened to me last month too!! But mine was because I didn't turn in my SAR7 form on time even though I SWEAR I submitted it online through BenefitsCal. They ended up fixing it but I had to go into the office and fill out another form. So annoying. Maybe check your SAR7 status?

•I don't think it's my SAR7 since I just did my recertification interview last month and everything was approved. But that's a good reminder that I'll need to submit my next SAR7 in April!

If you need to get through to a CalFresh worker about this issue but can't get past the phone system, you might want to try using Claimyr. I was in a similar situation last month with my benefits showing as discontinued even though I'd submitted everything, and I was going CRAZY trying to reach someone. Claimyr got me through to a live person in under 15 minutes when I'd been trying for days. They have a demo video at https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8 that shows how it works. Saved me so much stress!

•I've never heard of this before, but I'll check it out if my benefits don't show up by tomorrow. Does it work for all counties? I'm in Alameda County.

•Yes, it works for Alameda! That's where I am too. It basically navigates the phone system for you and calls you back when it reaches a real person. Check out their website at claimyr.com for more info.

Based on recent patterns, this is a system-wide delay affecting the supplemental allotments. The standard benefits should be unaffected and delivered on your regular issuance date. These delays typically resolve within 2-3 business days. If you're experiencing financial hardship while waiting, some counties offer emergency allotments - you can request this through your county office if the delay extends beyond 3 business days. Most importantly, this doesn't indicate any problem with your ongoing eligibility.

•Thank you for this detailed information! It's such a relief to know it's system-wide and not something wrong with my specific case. My benefits actually just showed up about an hour ago, so the delay was about 36 hours in total. I appreciate everyone's help and support!
