CalWORKs direct deposit missing today - anyone else not receive payment?

mine hasnt come either!! normaly hits my account at midnight and nothing yet. checked my balance on the atm and online banking. i was about to call my caseworker but u know how that goes... phone tag for days 🙄

Glad I'm not the only one! Let me know if yours shows up later today. I'm hoping it's just a system delay or something.

its probably because of the bank holiday on Monday. sometimes payments get delayed when theres holidays

Oh that actually makes sense! I totally forgot Monday was a holiday. I hope that's all it is - have you had this happen before with holidays?

ya hapen to me like 3-4 times. usualy comes next busines day but somtimes even 2 days late

This happens periodically with the direct deposit system for CalWORKs. I've been on Cash Aid for several years, and bank holidays definitely cause delays, but sometimes there are also county-wide system issues that delay payments. If you don't receive your deposit by tomorrow, you should contact your county office directly. Remember that if your rent is due and you're at risk of eviction because of this delay, you can request an emergency payment - but you need to speak directly with your caseworker for that.In the meantime, check your BenefitsCal account again tonight. Sometimes the payment status updates there before the money actually hits your account.

I've had this happen twice this year already. The first time it was a system issue at the county level that delayed everyone's payments by a day. The second time was because of a verification flag on my case that I didn't even know about until I finally reached my worker.If you need to reach someone at the county office quickly, I'd recommend using Claimyr.com. Yes, it actually does! I was skeptical too but was desperate after spending an entire morning on hold. They called me when a real person answered and I was able to get my payment issue resolved that same day. Worth it when you're in a payment emergency situation.

THERE IS NO EXCUSE for this!! The county KNOWS we depend on this money for RENT and BILLS that are DUE on the 1st! This happens EVERY SINGLE TIME there's a holiday and they NEVER fix the system. And good luck trying to explain to your landlord why your rent is late - they don't care about CalWORKs delays!I've been dealing with this for 2 years and my worker always acts like it's the first time it's ever happened. SAME THING HAPPENED AFTER MEMORIAL DAY THIS YEAR!!! The system is BROKEN and nobody cares because we're poor!

I feel your frustration! My landlord is usually understanding but charges late fees after the 3rd. Really hoping it shows up tomorrow.

this is why i always try to save a tiny bit from each check if i can... but its so hard when everything is so expensive now 😞

OMG THANK YOU for the update! Just checked and mine finally came through too!! Such a relief. I guess it was just delayed because of the holiday weekend like others said.

for future reference if your deposit doesnt come you can go to the county office in person and request a emergency temp payment if rent or bills due. they can issue emergency payment same day sometimes but you gotta be there before like 3pm with all your paperwork

This is good advice, but I'd add that you need to bring documentation of the emergency - like an eviction notice or utility shutoff warning. They won't issue emergency payments just because the regular payment is delayed, unfortunately. You have to prove immediate need.
