ESD payment processed but not showing in bank account - normal delay?

Hey everyone, just noticed something weird with my unemployment payment. ESD's website updated today showing they've processed my payment for last week, but I'm not seeing anything in my bank account yet (not even as pending). Last week when I got my first payment, both the ESD website and my bank account updated at the same time. Has anyone experienced a delay between ESD showing 'paid' and the money actually hitting your bank? If yes, how many days did it take? Starting to get nervous since rent is due soon and I was counting on this payment. Thanks for any info!

This happened to me twice since January. First time it took 2 business days after showing as paid on ESD, second time it was 3 days. I think it depends on your bank too. Some process ACH transfers faster than others. I wouldn't worry yet unless it's been more than 3 business days.

Thanks for the quick reply! It's only been about 12 hours so I guess I'm jumping the gun. My first payment came through instantly so I assumed they'd all work that way. I'll try to be patient for a few more days.

4 days? Ugh, that would stress me out so much. Did they ever explain why it took so long that time?

The same thing happened to me last month. The timing depends on when they process the payment batch and your bank's ACH processing schedule. First payments sometimes process differently than recurring ones. If you're worried, you can call ESD to confirm the payment was actually issued. But fair warning - getting through to an agent is nearly impossible these days with their phone system. I spent 3 hours on hold last week and got disconnected twice.

I've been using Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to ESD when I need to check on payment issues. They call ESD for you and connect you with an agent when they get through. Saved me hours of hold time. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. Worth it when you really need to talk to someone about payment delays.

DONT PANIC!!! Sorry for the caps but I literally just went through this exact scenario. ESD payments sometimes take 2-3 business days to show up in your account EVEN THOUGH the ESD website shows paid. My first payment was instant too which is why I freaked out about later ones. It's just how their system works sometimes. Also keep in mind that if there's a holiday or weekend involved, that can slow things down too.

this is good advice but sometimes its legit to panic lol. i didnt get paid for 6 weeks once and esd kept saying 'its coming' but there was actually a flag on my account nobody told me about

This timing difference is actually normal with ACH transfers. First payments are often processed differently (sometimes as a test transaction) than subsequent payments. What's happening is that ESD has initiated the payment, but it's still in the banking system pipeline. Few things to be aware of: 1. Most banks don't process ACH transfers on weekends or holidays 2. Some banks hold deposits for 24-48 hours before showing them as pending 3. ESD processes payments in batches, not individually If it's been less than 3 business days, I wouldn't worry yet. If it goes longer than that, then you should contact ESD to verify the payment was properly processed. You can check your payment history in eServices under "UI Claim" and look at the Payments tab to see the exact date it was processed.

Thank you for such a detailed explanation! That makes me feel a lot better. I'll check the exact processing date in eServices like you suggested. If it doesn't show up by Friday I'll try calling ESD.

Quick update - my payment from Monday just hit my account this morning. It took exactly 2 business days as others have mentioned. Hope yours comes through soon!

That's great news! Thanks for the update. Mine just showed up too! I guess I was being impatient, but when you're counting on that money for bills it's easy to get anxious.
